I don't know what the rate is but it'll prob work out about 400 euro that's if she gives me the 6 mths. Otherwise it'll be about 800 euro for the 12 months. She only offered me the 12months for £699. Still a good deal though, like you say it's just the shelling out all at once esp after paying for the op aswell. It took flirtylass nearly 1000 euro and she still hasn't go restriction. I find myself wondering if it's a money making thing by Dr chris not to put as much saline in the band. wendy told me she'd probably give me 3mls on my first, 2.5mls and then 2mls which she reckons would give me restriction. Never know though it could take alot more fills than that. I liked her approach though and she said I'm not to weigh myself on my own scales as hers give % fat, bones etc so it's more accurate.

West coast cooler is white wine with fruit juice. It's fab. Really sweet and refreshing. only thing is it's fizzy so it's bye bye west coast cooler for me and they've only just brought out a rose version! ah well I'll be skinny drinking something else!!lol! I'll ring wendy tomorrow and say how disappointed I am that she didn't give me the option and that I can't afford the £699 but could give her deposit for the £349. see how that goes. it'd be so great if i did get it, it would make alot of difference financially esp as I've to convert from euro.

Thanks suefee, enjoy take that you lucky thing! Thanks wishful. I defo will have a last supper. I had the same thoughts of being the biggest person but I suppose we're all different shapes so it's really hard to judge a person's weight (although he would have the details lol!!!) Homecare, on my last bloods my liver was "slightly raised". Me being the worrier that I am thought I must have some disease even though I'm not a drinker really, like yourself odd glass of wine or west coast cooler. Anyway, I deciphered over telling Dr Chris about it. In the end I told frederick and he said it didn't make a difference to the op. Also, I've read on here that they give you some sort of documentation after the op to give to you GP and alot of them say fatty liver, which most overweight people would be. I'm so annoyed about the WLS. I phoned Wendy 3 weeks ago and she never gave me the option of 6 mths. She said only 12 mths for £699. I think I might ring her and say I want the 6 mth one. How much are you getting the 6 mths for? Is Gary our resident dietician? must remember that gary. Do you have a post op diet sheet?

Hi Everyone, I'm getting really really nervous now...op on Friday! I'm a mixed bag of emotions. One minute I'm so excited, next I'm thinking I'm gonna die on the table or they'll open me up and find something (namely the big C). I'm a real worrier. I'm so bad at the mo I'm thinking maybe I should write letters in case I don't make it. I know you will all think I'm mad but I am just so sick with worry. I'm doing ok on the pre op, mostly cutting down on hi cals and haven't eaten choc in 2 weeks which I'm really proud of (as I'm a chocoholic). Then I think to myself, if I'm doing this well maybe I could just lose the weight myself but then reality kicks in and tells me that I haven't managed to do it before now so why would this diet be any different. Sorry for going on so much. It's just that my husbands mum died of cancer 3 weeks ago and I suppose it calls one's own mortality into question. Suefee you are so funny. I'd say you felt brilliant when he you were all done. that's another worry of mine that I'll wake up during the op. Hi homecare, glad you are all positive for the op. I'm just back from boots with the supplies!! I'll be a walking chemist. I got the boots own chewable orange vitamins and tiny arnica tabs and I've started them both today. I also got an arnica spray incase the bruising is really bad. Sorry for going on so much. I never shut up talking to my family and friends about you all, it's true we are like a family.....a really big big family. Thanks everyone.X

Hi High Anxiety, I'm getting banded on June 12th, and I'm travelling from Dublin. I'm getting the early morning flight on the 11th, and back on the morning flight on the 14th with Aer lingus. A few people here went alone. My brother or my husband will be travelling with me but if you're on your own you can join us. I have about 7 stone to lose too. I'm a bit nervous but after watching the itv programme last night I'm raring to go. congrats to Westbourne and Tanya. I'd better not move from the bed after the op for fear I'll take a tumble too! Hope I'll be on a low floor or the whole building might come down!!! Raging I missed suefee before she went, I was thinking of her today as I was due to be done today too. Englishrose, well done on your loss. I'm so envious, can't wait till i'm a loser too!

Hi Everyone, Thanks Flirty for meeting me today. It's great to meet someone in the flesh that is living testiment that the band does work, even though I know you said you had no restriction. Like you I'm hoping it will click something mentally!! I just called Wendy in WLS. She is so nice. I was on the phone for 40mins with her. It's £699 for a 12month aftercare package which includes dietician, fills, trouble shooting etc. She seems to be genuinely interested in helping people. She said she'd give me 3ml on my first fill (6wks post op) then 2ml then another 2ml by which time she really feels I'll have found my sweetspot. She said I can go to see her twice in a month, in Belfast and Dublin. I'm really much happier now knowing I will have help at the end of the phone. Not forgetting all you guys, which is an invaluable source of knowledge. Are all of you using WLS happy with them? Role on June 12th!!!

Hi Tanya & Janice, It's amazing we all have the same guilt about spending the money on ourselves. I can't believe I'm booked in too. Eery that I had the same deep thoughts as you Janice about doing this to myself, but on the positive note at least we are taking action before it's too late. My deciding factor was when a good friend said to me "shell, you're a walking timebomb". harsh I know but it's only a true friend that would feel comfortable giving you the cold hard facts. Welcome back odge, so glad all went well for you. I'll have to join up with this Irish session in August or whenever!!

Hi Everyone, Gosh, so much to read!!! I got my op date for June 12th!! So happy. Have the flights booked, my bro is coming with me as it's a bit difficult to organise sitters for 4 mad kids! Jackie, so glad it all worked out for you, you must've been devastated but alls well that ends well. Welcome Andy, its a great site, helped me make my mind up. All the people are so supportive and welcoming. Congrats to you too Janice on June 26th! I think I heard on the blog that the deposit has to be in their account 2 weeks prior to surgery. He didn't send me any bank account details yet. Congrats to you too Penny for your op date. It's great that there's a few of us together waiting for D day! Welcome back Flirty, glad it all went well for your friend and hope your restriction gets you nearer to your goal. Hi Mandy, glad you are recovering well, I've about 7 stone to lose too so I'll be watching how well you are doing!!

Thanks Suefee for the info. I know that came straight from the heart. Feeling very low today myself, i'm trying to be good and get into the good habits before the op. Good luck with the low fat diet...first day of the rest of your life!!! I'm still waiting to hear from Fred, the June dates will be gone too if he doesn't hurry up.

Hi bigsister & all Thanks for all that info. It must be great to have your sister going through the band with you, you both are so funny with the sibling rivalry!! Although I'd like my mum to get it done too I really don't think she's 100% behind it where I am. I initially wrote to Bruno Dillemans who said he'd send me a pre op questionaire but I'm still waiting and that was over 3 weeks ago. Then I found this site and boy am I glad I did. I'm grand sticking to a diet for a few weeks then when I see a few pound gone I think "this is going to take too long". I never feel I'll make it so that's why I feel the band will work for me. I just wish it was tomorrow. I sent him an email and pleaded could he fit me in any sooner than 9 th June, will let you know how it goes. Can you eat the same quantities as before? Although I'm a chocoholic, I couldn't open a packet of biscuits and eat one or two....I'd have to eat the whole lot!! So even if it restricted me in the quantities that would be something.

Hi Homecare, I'm a newby at this too but I do know the cost of the package. It's €4070. Don't know what that works out in sterling though. That includes the operation and hotel and transfers. I emailed Frederik and Dr Chris. Just like all the others on this site, Dr Chris said he's forward details to the management team which is Frederik. I hoped to get in for June 2 but now he tells me in an email this morning that now it's fully booked. I'm devastated. My advice would be to email Frederik frederik.serneels@ecfs.be . He was very quick to respond to me. Just like you I've tonnes of questions going around my head. My mum wonders if you can still eat the same (as a few people can on this site) then what's the point in having it at all? My mum is of the opinion it's going to make her thin overnight but I know it's just a tool to help me get where I wanna go. Thanks to everyone again for the welcomes, it means alot.

Thanks Flirty. I heard you talking about the neurofen melts so I'll get them before I go. Did you fly home on the early Aerlingus flight? There's one that leaves brussels at 10.10am the day after discharge so I'm wondering would it be ok to go on that or should I wait for the evening one at 9.30pm?

Hi Freckles, I totally understand you paranoia. How did you know the band wasn't right? Were you in really bad pain? I don't know how I had 4 children, 2 of them being twins born breech as my pain threshold is minimal!! Be honest girlies....is the pain so awful? It won't put me off believe me but I just want to be prepared. By the way Freckles your hair is lovely, you are so brave to put a photo on, maybe when I'm skinny......

Flirty, if you haven't reached a restriction how have you lost so much weight? There'll be none of you left!!ha ha! That's what you're hoping for though right??!! I'm great for doing exercise, I'll walk an hour a day no probs so I'm hoping that'll give me a good start. I'm a chocaholic so I'm just gonna steer clear of chocolate full stop. Not saying it's gonna be easy buy if I'm paying so much cash for a band I'm gonna try my utmost to help it help me. I'm a bit stressed about post op diet. Will I just be able to eat yogurt or baby foods? Thought I'd finished with baby food!!! Sammy you much be ok for the baby food you'd have it in stock!! My head is mushed. I know I'm doing the right thing, I have no doubts about that. Can I ask any of you did you ever think of gastric bypass? If so why did you choose the band?

Oh god, that doesn't sound too hot alright! You seem to be able to eat almost anything don't you? Do any of you have to plan your meals in advance? Do you get as hungry as before you had band? Do you feel full when you eat only a small bit? My problem is I never know when I'm full! The talk about a "signal"....I never met a signal!!!but am hoping to!!!

You sound so much like me. I'm the same, I buy every new lotion or potion I see and like yourself forget to take them!! I'll have to put them somewhere I'l remember to take them. I want to start multi vitamins too for the hair, I know most of these take a few weeks to kick in so I want to be ahead. It's just so fab having all this advice. You just couldn't put a price on it.

That's really kind Flirty, might just take you up on that. Is it tomorrow you are off with your friend? I'd go tomorrow too if I could. I'm wondering who I should get the fills done with. That WLS have a place in Swords which would suit me grand but after hearing what Freckles said about being careful who fills you I'm seriously thinking of staying with Fred (better the devil you know n'all that). I'm gonna start my pre op diet on Monday so I'll head out tomorrow and get the Milk thistle tabs and get myself on the right track.

Thanks Sammy, You are all so welcoming. I can't believe I'm part of it now!!! My hubby will defo have a problem now!! Ye, it's an emotional rollercoaster. I'm an emotional eater....happy, sad, angry, frustrated, worry...you name it I eat my way through it. Started a diet two months ago with my friend and since then I'm up another stone. It's a vicious circle. It's my time now to get off this rollercoaster. For once I feel I'm doing something for ME. My eldest is 9, so for 9 years I've taken a back seat....almost forgetting who I am but NOW it's my time. I'm just soooooooooooooo excited.

Hi Flirty, I'm in County Dublin so not that far from you. I've been telling my mam all about how much weight you all have lost, but in particular you. She's coming with me to get a band too. You should be so proud of yourself, I'd say you have to take a second glance at times to make sure it's you in the mirror!!Can't wait to be at that stage.
