Banded on Saturday and I AM HUNGRY

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I was banded on sat, sun i came home and today monday I"M HUNGRY... the protein shakes arent really cutting it anymore.. the soup the tea, the propel still leaves my tummy growling... what should i do>?? :rolleyes2: -

Hey Everyone, My name is :redface:Marlene:redface: and I live in NYC. I am a HS Foreign Langeage teacher by day and a mom by night. I took a year off from teaching after I had my last son Joshua. I decided to take advantage of the time off to get banded. My procedure is Saturday and I've already lost about 15 lbs on my preop diet. I'm excited but I could really use a mentor. I am the first one in my family to have this procedure and there arent many ppl in favor of this kind of medical intervention. In other words, I'm alone on this. It would be nice to find someone to help guide me on this journey, however if I could even find someone to say WAY TO GO>>> YOU CAN DO IT... I would be happy with that too. -
When you first get banded is it totally empty?

my surgeon told me that usually they put them in empty and that its better that way because that way you can get used to having it there first and then you go back and get a Fill -

IF I had to give you advice it would be to go to a seminar and keep track of every single paper. I started a folder specifically for my lapband papers. At the seminar they gave me a specific paper to give my pcp for every visit during the six month supervised diet. They also bring the 2 different lapbands so you can feel them touch them and maybe decide which you want. I think that you wont have any problem, but the seminar will educate you to the little details that can get you approved by the insurance comp or denied and if you want to get this done fast, then go to the seminar and schedule your psych consult. You will be surprised the amount of respect the surgical doc's office will give you when they see that this is important enough to keep on top of every step of the way!! -

Well after i went to my surgical consult my doc explained that the regualr lapband comes in 2 sizes and the realize band comes in one.... then she asked me if I had a preference and I told her that she could decide for me once she opened me up... so it'll be a surprise -
I guess I'm the next one due to be banded, my surgery date is 5 days away... June 27, 2009. I'm excited but I cant deny that im nervous too. I've had second thoughts and even questioned is all this going to be worth the paperwork and the trouble?? But when I logg in and read everyones blog, I just know that everyone cant be wrong!! Keep me posted ill be getting banded by Dr. Ren @ NYU medical center on sat.

I got approved one week after the surgeons office submitted the paperwork, I will be banded on 6/27... So excited, anxious....:thumbup:

Thanks for the tips, I have to start figuring out what to bring to the hospital. I have my preop testing tom. I read that will take like 3 hours... Thanks for the tips, hope I end up with a private room.. it would be nice. -
Hey Alex, I going to be banded by Ren on the 27th and I see you were too. I just wanted to know if you stayed true to the 2 wk preop liquid diet?? And if you did... what did you eat, besides veggies??

Hey Catherine, I too will be banded by Dr. Ren on the 27th and I'm halfway through the preop diet and I go for the preop testing tom. I had a nightmare last night that I woke up from the operation and the band felt so tight that i felt like i couldnt breathe. Am I just nervous or what?

I will be getting banded by Dr. Ren on June 27th, Im currently on the preop liquid diet. From what I read everyone said to expect her to be strict, which she absolutely is, but its better that way cause I dont want to let her down. IDK it makes it more personal... Im excited and nervous about the procedure... I had a nightmare last night, I got banded and when i woke up the band felt so tight and uncomfortable that I felt like I couldnt breathe... Is this normal?? Can this nightmare be possible?? -
Sure thing Susan. My name is Marlene, I'm 27 weigh 241 and have a bmi of 38. I learned about the lapband in December of last year when my pcp doctor suggested it as a tool that would help me lose the weight that was bringing me to bringing me close to being insulin dependent. I went to a seminar in february and I educated myself. The seminar was excellent at NYU Medical Center. They explained the pros and cons as well as the usual obstacles that most insurance companies place to make it a little more difficult to get. After that, I pretty much did everything else on my own, I followed the steps with my pcp, scheduled the psych evaluation and after that the surg consult. All in all it has been a pretty quick and painless process, once I had all of my paperwork, the surgeons office contacted the insurance company for approval and thats pretty much it... surgery scheduled for the 27th of this month, so thats 2 saturdays from now...wish me luck

Getting mentally prepared for life with lapband

I just got approved and the date is set....june27th... the thing is that i never thought that it would be so soon, i was anticipating the insurance to give me a long list of reasons for not approving, and i got the ok the week after submitting the papers... the liquid diet seems like a sacrifice... and its difficult to do but i think it will be worth it in the end! -
just came home from my surg. consult and my date looks like June 27, 2009 now the wait is on for the ins. approval..
