Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Hi toppings, I know exactly what your going through as Ive just completed a month of my band being too tight. Gaviscon didnt event take the edge off my heartburn and reflux. I felt some nights as if I would choke, the last few nights I had to sleep upright on my reclining chair. I only got a 0.2ml top up but my god it made a difference. I lost 12lbs but it was hell and I seriously wouldnt recommend it. I had 0.5mls taken out yesterday but my insides are still swollen and Ican only eat small amounts of food but at least its staying down. In case anyone is interested I got a letter from WLS and they are now doing a package where you can have 6 band adjustments over a period of 12 months for £350. I think this is a great package as once your at or near restriction you dont need to go as often but if you are going on holiday you can have some out and then topped up on your return. I will be happy to pass on any info if anyone requires it. Jx -

Bobo and toppings youve done really well. I cant believe youve lost 8 1/2 stone Bobo. What is your goal weight I thought it was 15stone? Im am almost at goal just 3 and a 1/2 lbs to go but Ive got a problem. A helluva lot of people are stopping me and saying either Ive lost too much or I look ill. This is really getting me down as its tainting the effort Ive put in to get to goal. It wouldnt be so band but Im at the top end for a normal BMI. Anyway good luck to all new bandsters on the start of your journey and keep up the good work to all other bandsters. Jx:thumbup: -

Hi all I havent been on for a while, Jeez you can all talk it will take me ages to catch up. Glad to see Freckles and Gary still on. Ive been having a bit of a struggle with reflux etc but on the last hurdle now. Ive got 7lbs to go until my goal has been acheived. Glad everyone is doing well apart from the problems with tubing etc. Gary I was wondering if they still do that support group on a Satuarday morning you once told me about. Good luck all. Jx -

A big congratulations Carrie Jess. When is the baby due. Freckles I didnt lose much because I wasnt eating enough and my body held onto everything. I ended up eating small squares of chocolate although Im not advocating this, however it did the trick and I ended up losing 8lbs. Jx -

Hi all Im back from my hols in Egypt. Checked the scales and guess what Ive lost 1/2lb. I cant beleive this as I had a defill before I left and was so glad I did. It is 9 months since my band was fitted and I am now a different person. The clothes I wore on holiday were a size 12 and it was so lovely to wear something I liked rather than something to hide the lumps and bumps. I felt more confident and went snorkelling, and on quad bikes, something I wouldnt have done previously. Oh I also went on a camel were as before I wouldnt have let the poor camel try and carry me. It has all been so worth it. I still have around 11lbs to lose but this time I know its gonny stay off. Can I say well done Gary and Bobo your both looking great, Carrie youll have that few pounds off in no time your gorgeous anyway and Freckles your hairstyle is great and really suits you. Also to all new bandsters you wont regret it, if you feel as half as good as I felt on holiday you will realise it is sooo worth it. Jx -

Hi dont mean to butt in to your conversation but I am also from Glasgow and there are a couple of choices you can make. Either stick with Dr Chris or WLS come to Glasgow once a month and are based up at Glasgow Green. They are doing a 6month package up until the end of Feb, where you can pre book it i.e £30 deposit then pay the rest when you start your fills. At the moment the special offer is £275 but normally its £350. Wendy is the bariatric nurse with years of experience and I find her brilliant also you have the added bonus that she is based in England so if you have any concerns she has a 24hour emergency line and you can contact her any time. Hope this helps. PM me if you need any more info. Jx:ohmy: -

Well done on your weightloss already JO JO. I had my usual weigh in this morning and have lost 1 3/4lbs this week. Ive noticed its really slowing down so will have to up my exercise. I really only want to lose another stone at the most, and people are already telling me Ive lost enough. So I hope to be at my goal at the end of June for my 1st bandiversary. I have just read the Daily Mail story and yes she is really brave having her body shown in all its glory, she had done brilliantly but what p***ed me off was the negative comments saying she wasnt a size 10 more a 14. The woman has halved her body weight and its still not good enough for the wolves, they have to attack her anyway. Ive left a cheeky comment to them all Jx -

Pesonally I think its far too soon. Your bodys been through a trauma and it takes around 6 weeks for it to heal. My sister was in the same position as you and her fill provider wouldnt even consider it. I know its dissapointing but it really is for your own good. Its up to you if Frederick is willing to do it only you can decide but I know I was still healing after 5 weeks. Good luck. Jx -

Hi all dont know how much I ve lost this week but was out with a friend shopping yesterday and tried on a pair of 14 jeans with nooo stretch and they were far too big so I tried on a 12 and they fitted perfectly, guess what I was sooo pleased I bought 2 pair. I also bought a size 12 evening dress. It felt so damn good. On the subject of big knickers for all new bandsters, I had a burning nippy pain on my port side for 5 weeks after op and the only thing that helped was wearing big waist pincher knickers from Marks and Spencers. Carrie jess sorry to hear your having relationship problems but if they are worth it, it will sort itself out. I always say whats for you wont go by you, Good luck hun. Jx -

No dont worry Carrie Im defo getting an unfil as Im going to Egypy on the first of March anyway. I know what you mean about not eating meat etc, I was taken out on valentines day for a meal by my husband but I spent most of the time in the toilet puking it up. What a disaster and a waste of money. Hope all you people whove just been banded are doing fine. P.S. Was that rail crash in Brussels the one that went through the Vilvoorde station. It was so sad all those people losing their lives. Jx -

So sorry to hear about you feeling a failure when you definately are the opposite. Any mother would be glad to have a daughter like you. Your mother will recieve round the clock attention from numerous carers and she will have a stress free daughter visiting her when she can. Try not to feel guilty as you have clearly done more than most. Jx -

Carrie as you know I had an overfill 2 weeks ago reflux, couldnt keep anything down etc. Now I can eat normally but if I drink wine Im getting burning in my throat and also Im getting reflux only if I drink wine. Strange as I was at the point of going to local hospital for a defil, now I can eat and drink normally. This band is bloody twisted, my husband says its just like its owner! jx -

Good to hear your almost back to normal fatpants. Im eating again though it is soft food. Weighed myself this morning and guess what after hardly eating anything for over a week due to band being too tight, Ive only lost 3/4lb. I think my body went into starvation mode and held onto any fat. Just goes to show a good balanced diet is always best -

Oh fatpants you must have been in agony but must be so relieved now. I am obviously not as bad as you no foaming at the mouth or anything but doc did give me antacids but I cant swallow them!!! He also gave me gaviscon. I can swallow fluids if I sip it slowly and I have discovered I can eat ritz biscuits and chocolate so I will persevere. Im so glad hospital didnt treat you badly as I would imagine some pompous doctors looking slightly pleased that surgery done in Belgium gone wrong and then looking for the NHS to sort it out scenario. Hope you recover soon. MMM thanks for the feedback on defil I will have to decide what to do when I see Wendy but defo getting a good bit out. Jx -

Thanks for that MMM I understand it a bit better now. Mine is calming down a bit as I only have liquids until my defil. How long were you overfilled before having to go for a defil? Jx -

Good luck all those going to be banded this week. I had a great nights sleep last night, first in over two weeks be it sitting up but I was so tired could have slept on a washing line. I have also discovered ritz crackers will go down. Jx -

Hi fatpants I know its frustrating and I was ok for first 11 days and then I ate something of the solid type food couldnt keep it down and bam was sick, this caused the swelling so now I have to stay on liquids until defil with Wendy on the 23rd of Feb. Its only a matter of tweeking to get restriction right and it could only be the difference of a tear drop ful to make us more comfortable. Im going to Egypt for 8 days holiday on the first of march so I would probably have had to get a defil anyway. Ive not been too bad since I went on to liquids but I have still been sick a couple of times with soup. I have quite a heavy job and Wendy suggested liquid replacement meals but I hate them so I now have a couple of squares of Cadburys bubbly chocolate which goes down ok surprise surprise. I feel I need something to keep my energy levels up and as Im hardly eating anything anyway, wont make a habit of it. Hope your a bit better, just wish this reflux would go away so I can have a full nights sleep. Jx -

Hi Fatpants I had to phone Wendy and she has calmed me down a bit. I have discovered it is any time I eat anything solid Ive been sick which causes the part of the stomach which has band round it to swell this has been giving me so much pain especially in my back. I am so tight that I cant eat anything solid so Wendy has suggested I only drink liquids and maybe the odd very soft food until I see her for my next defill. What you describe is about something being stuck is exactly how I feel, but I think it is your just too tight for food to go down. Wendy told me to get calpol to relieve the pain, which has really helped. Hope you feel better soon. Jx -

Starsky please dont be disheartned as you can see from my post I got 0.75 top up in my band and it is really too much. Before christmas my fill was only 0.25 and I had told Wendy I felt really hungry all the time and she decided to give me a larger fill but on heinsight I wish I would only have got 0.25 as now I will have to go for a defill. So rememer about the tortoise and the hare, You will get there. Good luck Jx:thumbup: -

Hi guys not been on for a while and took me a while to catch up! Good luck to all the newbies going to have the band fitted. So good to hear from big and little sis Ive missed you guys. Im still in discomfort after having 0.75 ml fill put in almost 2 weeks ago. My doctor has provided antacids and gaviscon but only taking the edge off. I can hardly eat much at all and even threw up my icelolly yesterday. I was ok after the fill but a couple of days into eating solids something wouldnt go down so I was quite sick and I think this led to swelling and anything I tried to eat after wouldnt go down so I think I may have to go a few days with only water to let the swelling go down. Freckles I know you had this for a while any advice would be good. Wendy isnt back for another fortnight and It would cost me money I havent got at the mo to go somewhere else for a defil. Jx -

Hi jojo you are exactly the same as the rest of us. My last supper lasted 3 weeks, convinced myself I may never be able to eat that and that again so might as well when I had a chance. But I pulled myself together for pre op diet and havent looked back since the op. Last night was just the best I fitted into a pair of size 12 black satin trousers Ive had in my wadrobe for years and havent been able to fit until NOW. GO FOR IT:w00t:
