Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
homecare replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi timeisnow I paid this afternoon and the exchange rate in my bank was 1.065 to the pound, a rip off and paid the economy transfer £20. They wanted £27 for the fast track one. As for the planeI think you can also check in via the usual check in desk as well as online but doing this you could risk not getting a seat together as once you check in online you can reserve your seating and as I have learnt the airplane is only a small one ie a configuration of rows of 2 seats and single seats. I am boarding the 12.10 as I think it is the best time. J x -

Thanks wishfull, If you are coming up here to climb some mountains, will it be the Cairngorms? We went to Fort William last september and the scenery was spectacular. I did a lot of walking but not CLIMBING and lost 4lb after 3 days and that was with all the eating and drinking. Cairngorms are spectacular. J x -

Hi timeisnow, It doesnt surprise me about your doctors attitude, as soon as I mentioned Belgium it was mostly on your own head be it!!! They would not even consider me on the NHS so although I am doing this for me it was as if I should only stick to British doctors. As for the insurance, I doubt you will get any insurance for the surgery but general travel insurance will cover your valuables for a 3 day sight seeing weekend??? It wont cover cash, only the first £250. Are you taking someone with you? What flight have you decided on? J x -

I have just told my sister I am being banded next month. I didnt really want anyone but my husband and friend knowing but my sister works in the same company as me and if I am off sick she will want to know why. She thinks I should tell my mum which I dont want to, and my three boys. I only told her out of necessity and got her to swear she would tell no one else but I feel the cat is out of the bag and would have liked more privacy. Why are these things not easy. Jx -

Timeisnow yes I am staying at that hotel and I am sure they are an hour ahead of us. I was thinking of booking the early flight ie 7 am from Edinburgh but that meant I would have to be up at some mad hour to travel through from Glasgow, get the car parked and get case checked in. I would have liked to have seen some of Brussels also but I would rather arrive refreshed as I am sure I aint gonna sleep the night before the op. I also have been booked into the servisair airport lounge so wouldn't mind a couple of ( Sherries !!!!!) purely medicinal of course, to try and calm nerves. I think my other half thinks we are going away to enjoy ourselves. If only. Penny, Gary is a wealth of knowledge and is so matter of fact about the op. He really put my mind at rest. J x -

Good Morning everyone its a beautiful sunny sunday morning here in Glasgow!! Glad everyone is doing a bit better than a few days ago. Timeisnow I am also booked for op on the 26th of June. Booked my flights for lunchtime on the 25th from Edinburgh for self and my husband, I thought the 12.15 flight looked the best one so dont have to get up at some mad hour and arriving mid afternoon. I also got free entry to the airport lounge using my royalties card. I was wondering if I arrive in hotel around 3 ish in the afternoon does anyone know if consultation will be in the evening at hotel or will I have it at the hopital the day of the op. Cheers J -

Tanyc I know how you feel. I am getting banded 6 weeks today and I feel as if it is happening to someone else. I have to keep pinching myself and saying this is really happening. On the one hand I am so glad and on the other I am so sad because I am thinking I did this to myself. Sorry for the deep thinking but it is how I feel at the moment...... J x -

How quickly do you have to transfer the 470 euros for the deposit. I cant pay this until next week as building society account needs notice to withdraw money. Do you think that will be ok. Janice -

I know Gillian but I just want to keep it quiet just now. Another stupid question. The date he gave me Friday 26/06/09, is that the date I travel and the op on the Satuarday 27th? Out on Sunday 28th fly home on 29th? Jx -

Oh my God!!! Just had confirmation Iam booked for the26th of June. Fear is really consuming me now, but I am more scared of getting heavier and having a heart attack or someother weight related illness. My husband thinks I should tell my boys but I dont want to. I know what you mean big sis an innocent word here and before you know it everyone knows. I am not telling my mother (she would worry and then tell wee mary down the road, who would go on to tell big jean etc) I am also not telling my sister as she tempts me with things when I go on a diet and tries to sabotage my efforts. It is pretty stressful keeping it to yourself and husband and one friend. Thank goodness for this site its like a release valve. J x -

Thats it! Ive made up my mind and I have emailed Frederick asking to book me in for the 26th of June. What have I done, I really need this, I have spoken about this for over a year, why do I feel so guilty, happy, scared and anxious at the same time. I know part of it is I will have to go on sick leave and lie about why. I haven't told my 3 boys of my decision as one of them aged 21 is doing his finals for his degree just now and would only worry. The other two, twins of 19 today!, would probably think of what they could do with the 4000 pound and say they will take me to their football training to get the weight off. Young and slim they really dont understand. I wish Frderick would get in touch to confirm the date then I could book my flight. I only emailed him 2 hours ago!!!! Anyway sorry for babbling my nerves are getting the better of me. By the way Gary thanks for the advice you really went out your way and your willpower is tremendous.Thank you sooooo! much. Janicex -

Hi Every one and thanks all for the great advice. I know this sounds really stupid but I recieved an email yesterday giving me dates available and when I emailed him back he said two of the dates were now full. So, that leaves the 26/06/09 for me but can anyone tell me if that is the day he operates or the day you get there? I couldn't get on the pc earlier as teenage son was larking about and I haven't told any of my boys my intentions. I think he thinks Iam having an affair or something as every timehe comes in when Iam on the pc I have to close the page!! Anyway glad your fills went ok and I will certainly think about the hernia excuse. Cheers J -

Just found out he takes 3 weeks off in July when I wanted to get done. Just my luck I will have to rethink my schedule as I was hoping it would fall in with the Glasgow fair Monday. {a bank holiday} I cant have any more time off my work as I have had 2 weeks off already and I am going to Florida in August for 2 weeks so cannot book any more over the summer. I also admit that I do not want my boss to find out. Damn!!!! -
