I agree with Makulafamy!!! Wow! What a difference!! Great inspiration!
  7. Hello!! I hope your well! I just wanted to check in with you and let you know that I got banded on 06/04/09. I have admired your drive and willpower since before I was banded. I knew that I was determined to be successful but your story has confirmed in me that I know I can do it!!! So far everything has been great, I have followed instructions to a tee! I too have to be low carb. My Doc started me on solids this week, so far so good. However, I am aware that I have no restriction and I do feel hunger pains. But my drive is so strong I refuse to deviate! I control my portions, eat 3 meals and 2 snack (healthy) per day and have been walking and started back on my bike this week, riding about 3-4 miles per night! I've lost 15 lbs since pre-op but haven't seen the scale move but 2-3 lbs since. I am confident that the weight will start dropping!! Sorry if I've rambled.....I'm just so darn STOKED!!!! Thanks for sharing your inspiration!!!! ~Tracy :)

  8. Hi Tina, I am so impressed by your success I was wondering if you would share some info with me. I am 3 weeks post op, I have dropped about 15 lbs. I've started on mushy foods and back to exercising. In the past week I haven't lost anything. I am staying low carb/low fat. How long did it take for you to begin to see consistent results? I know this is not a quick fix or a magical tool....but I know it is a tool and I'm committed to using it properly.

    Here I go......

I have been investigating, contemplating and researching the lap band for a little over 2 years now. I have been mulling around this forum and taking in the inspiration of the success's and taking serious thought to the struggles....I am 42, I have pretty much struggled with my weight all of my life. I topped out at 340lbs  after my 3rd son at age 29, I went on the Atkins diet and lost 110 lbs in 9 months and kept it there for 6 years and then I lost my husband of 17 years in a car accident in 2003 and dropped another 75lbs:frown:, in an unhealthy way tho. A few years later I began to move on with my life and started a new relationship and had baby boy #4 and packed on about 80lbs. Over the last two years I've managed to climb to as high as 280lbs. Nothing seemed to work for me anymore, even Atkins, I felt hopless!!:crying: In April 2009, I thought that is as close to 300lbs as I ever want to be again!! I had my consultation, seminar and psych eval on April 29,2009. Surgery June 4, 2009. I am 4 days post op and feeling pretty good!! I have hope back that I had lost:thumbup:, I know this journey is going to require alot of disipline and willpower and structure but I am ready!! I am here, I have begun!! Thank you to everyone that has shared your stories, the success, the struggles, the recipes, even pics of your families! Because thats what its all about! We're in it together!! And all of the support helps, alot! This site is now my new "myspace"......lol!! Good luck everyone!
  12. Thanks for all your low card recipes!! I really helped to jump start my memory from Atkins! And they sound so yummy.......

  13. Hi Melissa, Thank you for adding me as your friend. I have been admiring your success....I hope to model myself after the choices that you have made. I have already copied several of your recipes and eating choices and are going to use them. Thank you for sharing. I am just starting my mushy stage but always looking forward and paving the way with a plan, because without a plan is how I get in trouble....LoL!! I hope and pray this is the last time in life that I have wage war with my weight...the rest of my life I can maintain at a more comfortable battle....thanks again for sharing and please keep up the inspiration.

    Hamburger

Hi Everyone!! I laughed when I started reading this thred and it seems quite a few crave a hamburger, why is that?? I was banded 3 days ago (June 4) and I have this overwhelming craving for, yep you guessed it, a HAMBURGER!!! LoL!! So bad that my son had left hamburger buns on the counter and I had to hide them! That so far has been the only food that I have seen that has really challenged me. The funniest part is that I'm not craving the bun, just the hamburger! I'm doing ok otherwise, still in liquid diet until tomorrow, then start the mushy stage, I'm looking forward to some creamy soup! Good luck to everyone, thank you for all of your posts!!

  20. Thanks for your reply!! You are a very strong inspiration for me. I am 5'6 and am currently wearing a size 22...thanks to baby boy #4...LoL! And, WOW...you lost all that weight in less than a years time??? As far as eating goes what would you say is the most important or most helpful thing you ate during the day....I'm a little nervous about how to get the best and easiest form of protein. Thanks for sharing your experience with me! It means alot, I don't know about you but I contemplated this decision for over 3 years.....

    ~Tracy
