    how private is too private?

Geez louise, if KitKat had an Awesome relationship with her hubby, she wouldn't have written this post. Obviously, things are not Kosher there. Count yourself lucky to have a supportive hubby. She needs a lecture, like a hole in the head! IF it was an ideal world, we wouldn't be fat either! Good luck KitKat with everything :scared2:

    how private is too private?

First off I want to wish you good luck with the surgery. Your attitude and support system is key to success. First off, I haven't read anywhere that ones spouse has to be your key support person. Count yourself lucky that your daughter is there for you. In an ideal world, our partners should be our biggest supporters. For some, that is not the case and I don't feel you should be persecuted because it appears your hubby isn't the man you would like him to be. The reasons why don't matter, it is what it is. If you feel you don't want to tell him or feel he won't be cool with it, it's your decision. But tell someone. You'll need their support down the road. My hubby was not supportive of the surgery. If anything , he was rabidly against it. He is not fond of surgeries in general. He "passed out" after my C-section and was asleep in my hospital bed, 10 minutes after we got to my room from "the stress". Yes ladies, that is laughable since I was the one who had the c-section and was in pain. Apparently, I am the stronger person. Who knew he would be so scared and squeamish when I married him? What's a girl to do? Divorce him because that's not he respnse I wanted or expected? I went to the seminar, got all my testing done and then told him the date of my surgery. He was worried I could die on the table(I wasn't). My Dr never had anyone die from this surgery, so no worries if your reading this. He squawked and ranted and worried, and I stood fast. This is my life, my choice and ultimately, my decision. He did try and discourage me up until the day of surgery. If I let all his fears, etc influence me I would never had the surgery and that would make me forever wondering what could have been. On a plus note, he has been terrific and supportive since the surgery. He buys me special foods, encourages me to walk (he even walks with me). Tells me to go shopping for new clothes (as the wt comes off). He still thinks I could have done it on my own, without surgery. But that is his baggage to carry, not mine. Much good luck with your wt loss journey and whether your hubby is in on your decision or not, remember it will be so worth it.
  4. What's the rush? There are reasons for following the DR's guidelines. The stomach is healing and the different food stages reflect this. Be Patient, it is by far, such a small bump in your wt. loss journey. Good luck!

    Pre-Op Shakes are nauseating

I did unjury for the first month or two, but I forced them down. I have also tried EAS chocolate Pre made (got a case at BJ's), not bad when your in a rush. Refrigerate a bunch, so their handy. Plus the pre made are great to bring with you places. Now theres no excuse not to have your quota that day. Recentloy, I have gotten Jay Robb (health food store) creamsicle flavor. Good with cold skim milk. Expensive though. I can't drink an Unjury now if you paid me. I think they all end up tasting gross after a while, you'll probably have to switch it up. The nutritionist said that the shakes made with isolate are the best. Easiest Protein to digest. Look for isolate as the first ingredient. The Jay Robb brand is one. Good luck!

Labor Day Challenge for Bunny Bandsters

Hi JayTee, Thanks for reminding me it is not a race. I have been following the program on point and I exercise at least 5 days a week now. I'm going to the DR Tuesday and I hope he will give me my second fill. I was supposed to have it 20 days ago , but he said I didn't need it. I think I need the nudge now. I choose the term nudge (but feel free to substitute kick in the azz) lol Good luck in your journey!

    Suddenly too tight...again

I went from suddenly to tight to sometimes I can eat more. I threw up chilli yesterday (not pleasant). I think maybe a bean got stuck, because the next time I tried it, it went down fine. I went for my second fill, but the DR did not give it to me. He said I should wait 4-6 weeks because of the vomiting. I lost 10 lbs in the previous 6 weeks. Not major numbers, kind of bummed on that score. I can eat fine somedays and others not so good. Worried about wanting more food now though. I am starving by 10 PM. I'm not sue if I can or should wait 4-6 more weeks, going to play it by ear. Good luck everyone!
  10. Hello All, I have a lot of leftover nutri-system dinners. The problem is they are all either lasagna or ravioli. I know we are supposed to avoid Pasta, but does anyone know if I can eat these pasta dinners? They have about 17g Protein. Why can't we eat pasta anyway? I don't eat any other carbs at all, nary a cracker, bread or rice. Anyone know if this will screw me up? I am not interested in messing up a good thing. I am about 2.5 mos banded and have had one fill, second one is scheduled for July 15. I have had a call in to Nutritionist, but have yet to recieve a call back. Thanks a bunch!

    Can we eat Nutri-system dinners???????

PS- Parrothead and June. the visual of the gummy ball in my tummy is not pleasant. ewww! When I do have to eat the pasta dinners, I will only eat half and supplement the rest with veggies. I have only had the lasgana twice and it actually went down really well. I get a lot of other food stuck...go figure? I don't know what will happen with my second fill, but I am beginning to understand to take each day at a time, heck, make that each meal at a time. Thanks for your feedback and may your journey be successful! Samantha :-)

    Can we eat Nutri-system dinners???????

Thank you so much for your reply. The nutritionist finally called back and said I could eat the pasta Nutri-systems dinners, but only 4 oz worth at a time and only a few times a week. I'm glad for that because I have brought them to eat when I am at other people's houses and they don't have the food I can eat. This has really helped a lot. The nutrionist said I just have to make sure I eat veggies with the pasta dinners. I will use WW or Lean Cuisine when I run out of the nutri-system dinners as well. Thank you for your reply. Good luck in your wt loss journey. Samantha :-)
  13. I am hoping to share and encourage others as this has really helped me. First off, the gym and I are not friends. I am uncomfortable and was always waiting for someone to call me an imposter and toss me out. I do like to walk the dogs, but with the heat, neither I or the dogs want to go far. If you are so lucky as me to have access to a pool, then I encourage you to JUMP IN! lol I am doing some swim laps (exhausting, so I do them in small spurts) and water aerobics. I use a ball and sometimes a small float when I need a break (though I am kicking at this time). The key is to never stop moving. I run laps in pool, I do leg lifts, jumping jacks, arm exercises and dance moves (yes I have a fence) lol I have not worn a bathing suit in 2 years and have avoiding all bodies of water. (I live at the Jersey shore, so it has been hard to do when you have kids). I wear a long T-shirt over my bathing suit, because I still have lots of wt to lose and it makes me not so self-concious. So there went the excuse of not being in a bathing suit. (believe me I had every excuse) This is the only thing that I am doing regularly. Don't know if I have lost anymore since starting (only been about 5 days), but I feel so much better. This forum has helped me out a lot..I hope I can return the favor. Happy journeys,

    Suddenly too tight...again

Hi Ziggy. PS-I love the name SkinnyZiggy. I haven't had skinny attached to my name in years lol Good luck with everything. PS-I'm in NJ, we have relatives in Yardley. I also work in the schools as a para. I've probably worked every position at some point. Some better than others. I hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction. I'm supposed to get my second fill on the 15th, debating whether to get it. Samantha :-)

    Suddenly too tight...again

Hi Zig, I am learning more and more online. It seems I find out more relevant info here than at the DR's. I have never heard of achalasia before. Do you know if you've always had it or just developed it from the band? Will it get worse? I hope not. I am beginning to think the fills are hit or miss, good, bad or indifferent. I am due for another fill on the 15th, I am nervous, especially since the DR's policy is that we don't need to know how much fill we have or are getting. I agree all loses are a win. Good luck with everything. I wish you the best! Sammi :-)

    Suddenly too tight...again

I just want you to know that it took me forever to figure out the TOM thing...too funny!
  17. port flipped? this does not sound good? How are you and how did it happen? I wish you the best of luck with the new surgery. Please let me know how you make out. Thanks, Sammi :-)
  18. It was 10 days after first fill and it wasn't pleasant.

    Suddenly too tight...again

I don't know what size band, other than the recptionist said AP regular. She said the DR was away and she didn't understand how much fill I rec'd in chart.

    Suddenly too tight...again

Interesting. What does the water have to do with the band suddenly tightening?

    Suddenly too tight...again

I am glad I found this post. I had my first fill and felt little if any restriction. I was careful not to over eat, at that point I was doing it mostly on will power. 10 days after my first fill, I was at my son's soccer game and was cheering (or yelling)lol, a lot. Immediately after that the next thing I ate (was a sugar free ice pop) was suddenly painful. Could the stress and yelling have anything to do with it? Slippage maybe? Since then I have vomited/slimed (not sure of the difference) a few times a week and a lot of food has gotten "stuck". I can no longer eat meat (even shredded in the magic bullet). I seem to be okay with egg salad and fish, but I don't know what to make of it. If any one has any ideas, I would be happy to hear of it. Many thanks!
  22. hi Diane,

I got banded on the 23, also in NJ. When is your first fill? I am nervous about it hurting.

    Nice to meet you,

    Sammi

  23. Hello, I got banded on 4/28 and I have some concerns. I also feel I could use some online support, maybe a banding buddy. lol Thanks for looking. Sammi
  24. hi there! My DR said that I don't have any saline in the band and won't till 6 weeks out. Can you fit in the 64 oz of liquid with the rstriction of waiting 30 min before drinking and 1 hr after having the protein drinks (they have become almost inpossible to drink now) I am having trouble drinking enough and consequently (well you get the idea) Please let me know how you are doing and congrats on the surgery. Sammi
  25. Hi Buck, Sorry to hear about your early problems, so glad you are feeling better. Time does heal most things doesn't it? I live in NJ and if you feel like writing from time to time, I would welcome the support. Have you lost any wt/ yet? I go to the DR's tomorrow. Good luck! Sammi
