For what it's worth, I regret that I told so many people at the time of surgery. It's just ackward now becasue everyone watches your weight and what you eat, etc, but they don't really want to say anything either. In hindsight, it would have and contiuned to keep it to myself. But that's hindsight for ya...

Will I Ever See the REAL ME??
VLOslund replied to sweetbean70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This thread inspired my to go home last night and try on an old pair of pants that I assumed were 2 sizes too small for me. And they fit perfectly!!! Now I am on a mission to throw out and donate all of these baggy clothes I have been hiding under! I have a long way to go but these little victories can really be the best! Best of luck to all of us! -
need some encouragement - going slow
VLOslund replied to tomfoolery's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have a chocolate tooth so I generally avoid all sweets. However, I tried baker's chocolate because it has no sugar and of course that is gross. But then I found that Lindt and Girodelli (sp?) have super extra dark chocolate bars with little sugar (but beware of the cococa fat). Lindt has a 85% and 90% cocoa bars which is almost baker's chocolate. So with that (and its an acquired taste), I find that I can eat one square just every once in awhile and my craving is taken care of. Best of luck to you. -
Office workers-What's for lunch?
VLOslund replied to carbgrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, and it is usually a money waste because the portions just are not the right size either. Sometimes I will go get a small cup of Chili at Wendys or some Soup at a deli but I mostly fly solo because eating a sit down meal just seems like too much for a lunch nowadays. The upside is that I can often get a 20-30 min walk in at lunch time, when I never would before... Luv it! -
Office workers-What's for lunch?
VLOslund replied to carbgrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yogurts are nice. Sometimes healthy or light soups in the grab and go cans. Different types of cheese. Sometimes a portien bar or a small cup of nuts. Occassionally just some rolled up or chopped up lunch meat. Sometimes the smallest sized lunchables that have just a few crackers and a few cheese pieces and some lunch meat pieces work well or a grab and go item. Be careful of the crackers though. -

Its fine for me but I can end up eating too much without thinking. I think that is the nature of popcorn... I just got the 100 calorie minibags to try that. But I do realize that popcorm is not a real good food choice because it is all carbs and little substance... Best of luck to you.

Who Wants To Share Some Recent NSVs??
VLOslund replied to Catherine55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Always having to pull my underwear up.. :frown: And walking at lunch time today, my thigh hurt some so I reached down and rubbed it and I felt muscle and bone, instead of jelly-like legs!!! I love this thread, it is funny and inspiring! -
Can you gulp the water down?
VLOslund replied to tcbgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't "glup" anything either but I also find that cold liquids go down the slowest and drinking, even just a sip, with or shortly after food is a big mistake-for me... -
Frustrated but still not giving up
VLOslund replied to maclynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a Mayo Bandito too and have stayed at the same pounds for the last six weeks, part of which was a 2 week vacation that made things harder. I got a fill yesterday and I am journaling my food more closely now.... Best of luck! -
~> so this is what a "sweet spot" means!!
VLOslund replied to sandibly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting everyone. I was on the fence but I am going to make that fill appointment now. I am happy that I can't just pig out and way over eat, but I can still eat more than I should.... -
Days 2 and 3 suck for probably most everyone. Day 4 and out will be getting better for you I would think. Best of luck to you and call your doc if you need reassurance.

?? for those who had fill during surgery
VLOslund replied to katwmn63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3.4cc in a 10cc band and I have felt no restriction until my 3rd fill a few weeks ago. Best of luck to you. -

"Stuck" Explanation please...
VLOslund replied to 303'sJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, what are some of the "manuevers"? I am new to this and get that stuck feeling a lot and do not really know what to do. At home I usually walk around some and flap my arms like a chicken occassionally... Drinking Water seems to always make it worse, like I am really choking. -
When you first get banded is it totally empty?
VLOslund replied to Dreamjeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my first fill last Thursday, the nurse checked and found 3.4cc in my 10cc band and then she put another 1cc in too. However, I feel almost no restriction and it is frustrating. -
1. naked. 2. Dr. said 2 weeks for swimming or bath in water. Showers right away okay. 3. I would say 2-3 weeks before your incisions make you feel okay about sex. There are stiches under the skin so you want a little time to heal. Then again, maybe it just depends on the type of sexual activity... 4. I wish someone really laid into me about really liquids only for the first FULL week. I went to mushies just a few days too soon and I was miserable amd uncomfortable. You just feel so, so hungery after a pre-op diet and surgery and only liquids that hunger strikes and you want something in your gut and the more you try to eat, the more you want. At least for me.... Best of luck. I was banded May 14th and I surely do not regret my decision and I am still excited!!

When will I feel normal again??????
VLOslund replied to castle1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 10 days or so to really feel like my insides were okay. Same hernia and pain you mentioned. I can say please do follow the liquid diet for a full week. Adding any type of non-liquid food the first 1-2 weeks only makes the pressure worse......
