Thanks for still being out there May Banditos. I am working my way to getting back on track and I am excited about it all again. However, all of your stories are so familiar. Having an uncooperative band can be so frustrating and sometimes I wish it weren't there, but I know that I still need it.

Try your best and attend some support groups (online or in person) if you can. I have been doing the backward slide lately but I am realizing that even if I am snacking and drinking whe n I shouldn't, it is still about the quality of food that I am eating. Junk food is bad for you no matter what the portion size. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can find a way to see a doctor and/or get into a good support group!

What do you eat for lunch?
VLOslund replied to LuvinLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I am having the little Bumblee Bee fat free tuna salad with crackers. Prepacked and ready to go and 150 cals. total. I usually bring some light cheese too. -
Did you name your band?
VLOslund replied to Cocoabean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Becky is the name of mine. Vicki and Becky. -
My BodyBugg reads about 700 cals. after doing a few things in the morning because it calcuated sleeping time too. Also, there is a BodyBugg message board at the apex.com website. It is not searchable but it is a very active board and answers tons of questions! Have fun with the Bugg, it is a great tool for those of us that need to calorie count.:w00t:

Also, there is an interesting recent thread in the Fitness and Exercise section on this board about plateaus and breaking through them.

I hear you and having been struggling for 2 months and trying to analyze everything. And I am realizing it is not the fills I need so much but to be more careful about eating the right things. I can really eat an infinite amount of Snacks and they go down pretty easy. My challenge is to avoid the snacks and keep trying to intake solid Proteins instead. The best of luck to you and always remember to keep on trying!

Help i swallowed gum
VLOslund replied to mrmrslamb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have swallowed many pieces of gum with the band and it has been fine. Just a bad habit I had from before the band.... But I do chew less gum now or only a 1/2 piece because it seems to just make me hungier... All the chewing that is. -
I like the fact that the Lap-Band has a few different sizes of band and the doctor decides which one to use during the surgery. The Lap-Band also has two port options, and regular one and a low-profile one, which the doctors decides on at surgery. At least that is what my doctor explained to me last May.

BodyBugg is bought through 24 Hour Fitness online and I just saw that Costco Online has it now. It is the armband system that the contestants on teh Biggest Loser wear. Some people on this board have talked about the same device from GoWear Fit. Same device, just a different name and I think that one is available on Amazon.com. Best of luck!

The same for me. I just ordered the book 100 days of Weight Loss that has a workbook to help refocus on eating right. I am also planning to get a BodyBugg to watch calories and exercise more and for motivation. Was also looking at the Nike + system for running. Anyone use that system? Best of luck to everyone.

Has everyone worked through or read the book 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle? It is a book and workbook that is supposed to work although with any diet. I am planning on ordering the book and was wondering if anyone had comments on it. Thanks much!

The Band with NO Name...STILL!
VLOslund replied to Adrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about the General or the Governor?? Mine is Becky because we are buddies, Vicki and Becky. Although my Becky has a sweet-tooth, which you would think that a Band would not. I am always trying to reason with her about food choices... She is very child-like but it always gives my daughter a laugh when I talk about Becky... -
Is Sushi a mushie food?
VLOslund replied to USCTrojans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a warning that the sushi rice is sticky and any dry seaweed paper can really get stuck or irriating. I love sushi but not being able to drink before or after sushi makes it a difficult food, for me. Best of luck to you. -
Just bought it...so excited!
VLOslund replied to 120inside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did someone on this thread or another post a coupon code for the 24 Hour Fitness Body Bugg? $15 off? I am thinking about ordering one... :w00t: -
From the album: Me, Myself and I

I wouldn't be trying any solids for a few days. Liquids and soft mushies are best until the stomach irriation goes away. It takes time to get back to neutarl. Best of luck and do see your doc for sure if it is still bad on liquids and mushies.

I do have an anciness that leads to a lot of werid dreams. I think mostly because of my new life changes and physical changes. Also probably because I am not always going to bed with a big full gut or in a sugar comma like in my pre land-band life... Just thinking. Best of luck to you!

MAY 2009 Bandsters!
VLOslund replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello and thanks for checking in. I am just getting over the 40 pounds mark and feel good. I am not lossing quite as fast I had hoped because I continue to struggle with the diet part of things. Exercise-wise, I have just started to get into the beginning stages of some running, in addition to lots of walking, and that is something I never thought in my life I would be able to do!! -
Its is very true. One episode leads to more discomfort. Take it easy and children's liquid Mortin or IB can help keep inflamation down.

5.5 weeks and already off track
VLOslund replied to SoReady34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For most of us, if we were any good at dieting, we wouldn't have needed a Lap-Band. I foil myself all too often, but I am happy that the weight I do lose tends to stay off and that I can't eat like a whole pizza or a triple order of fast food. Just re-focus and learn from it. Also, be mindful that one fill will not be the cureall. It takes several fills and learning to live with the Lap-Band before it really does a lot of good. Remember, the battle is mostly mental and you just need to keep on trying! Best of luck to you! -
I read the book below that I ordered from amazon. It explains the divorce with food and ill-feelings that can come by it. And unlike an alocoholic and may be able to stop drinking and abstain, we cannot actually abstain from food itself. It's hard.... Best of luck to you. Lost and Found: A Guide To The LAP-BAND Journey (Paperback) by Dr. Nirmal Jayaseelan (Author), Cynthia Jones O'Kelly (Author) 4.7 out of 5 stars See all reviews (10 customer reviews)

I tried to help out with my daughter's 6 year old b-day party at the local pool 2 days after surgery. I survived but it was not pleasant. I was a little unstable on my feet and neither sitting nor standing for any time was great. I also had a lot shoulder pain which I didn't expect and then the effects of the meds too. You would survive it easy but it will be uncomfortable in ways you cannot predict.... Best of luck!:cursing:
