Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

GOOD MORNING! Kat: Please let us know what is going on with your headache... and as for your MIL... well from what you've said about her she is a piece of work and her comments should just be filed under "hot air" You KNOW you are doing great! Laura: How was the concert???? Denise: I agree with you... until your dd is ready to do ANYTHING you need to hang tight. You are doing wonderfully! MS_JEN: Whooooooohoooooo on the Jean NSV. Prayers go out to your husband......... apple fritter sounds goooooooood TracyK: I too love the cut and color! Terry: Going in for unfill tomorrow? Pam: Leak check in Haydee: I know your busy with the move but we miss you around here. Judy: I LOVE your pics! Scone: How are you doing today? Jennifur: Where are you??? I woke up this morning feeling actual hip bones (when laying flat) I still have belly in the center but just the fact that I can now feel actual bones is a HUGE NSV......... so I thought.. MAYBE this would be the morning I could button the jeans....... so I got the gut sucker out of my drawer and wiggled it on.... put the jeans on and even though they did go over my hips better the BELLY STILL wouldn't budge..... dang it! But they are getting ever so close maybe two more weeks....... I have two pairs of size 14 Levis and about 5 pairs of size 12's............. my goal is to button the 12's by Christmas (they are mid rise boot cut stretch) My restriction is evident: I scrambled 3 eggs last night for dinner with a bit of cottage cheese and cheddar...... I gave my son the plate that had the bigger portion and then sprinkled some homeade salsa on top of mine... I DID NOT FINISH IT.. went down fine, I just got full fast. However I did get hungry again around 7 and I ate some spaghetti meat sauce...... it also went down fine............ all in all I would say I ate the equivalent of 1/2 cup at each sitting......... I wonder if this restriction will stick for a while. I have several must do projects today so I will check in when I can. WWJD! -
Do I Have A "pig Out" Day!!
TracyinKS replied to REDGIRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a self imposed Farewell to food tour and it was a huge mistake! You don't need it! You will be able to eat anything you want until you start getting fills. The Friday before my first fill.. I ate half a pizza....... not smart... I could still eat thin pizza crust after 2 fills. NOT NOW! THANK GOODNESS -
Question for people banded for over a year
TracyinKS replied to MysticstarD's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am only 4 months out but I just had my 4th fill on Monday... I am technically at 4cc's in 4cc band (although he's never withdrew any so I don't know how much is actually IN there) I asked him.. OK DOC just how much does my band REALLY hold since I've read that they can be over filled. He said that he doesn't have ANY patients over 5cc's (in a small band) and the large band can hold over 120cc's before it busts. I'm hoping that I've hit my ultimate sweet spot and that it sticks. -
RELAX!!!!!!!!!!!!! and don't forget to ask your doc for Pics!

What's the last thing you said to your surgeon just before your LB procedure?!
TracyinKS replied to UN5-3051's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I remember being in the or and right before they put the mask on me, I saw my doctor enter the room.. I yelled accross the room to him.. "Will you take a pic for me?" He looked up and said "Yeah, I can do that" The mask went on and that was it......... The first thing he said to me was that he took a pic for me. In recovery, DF was laughing when he asked... "Did YOU ASK FOR PICTURES???" Later the doc asked me if I got them I said yes, and that they would be posted on Lapbandtalk within 24 hours........ -

I just returned from lunch........ my stomach was knawing at me and ANOTHER protein shake was NOT going to cut it so I opted for very mushy tuna salad (mayo&brownspicymustard) Let me tell you ... about 1/4 of it was all that was needed before my band said STOP -
I may get flamed for this...... but I think if you are LOOKing for the negative.. you will find it. I choose to look for the positive, because I WILL FIND IT.

Michelle: congrats on the pound lost! :gluck: Pam on NOT crapping your pants today! Jennifur: on you rocking your self imposed STRICT eating plan! Welcome back Judy! We missed you lady. Waiting for check ins from Ms_Jen, Haydee, Josie, HH, Gr8 and others :whoo:Laura... when are you going to post some pics of you in your sexy bell bottoms!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW I meant to tell you that I LOVE your tramp stamp tat! Very pretty. Terry: I know you've at least lurked this morning....... where is your morning check in? TracyK: How are you doing today? Kat: I thought about your GLUGs recipee last night... The scale was nice to me this morning and bounced back down to my siggy weight so I'm mentally happy. DF and I made fresh salsa last night.. more like a pico and talk about grieving..... I had to just smell it due to me being a GOOD bandster girl and sticking with my liquids.. DF said it was REALLY good and he ate two bowls with scoops chips... maybe a tad much lime juice and cilantro.. but pretty good for our first ever run at it. Sadly, I know I'm not going to make my Labor Day Goal of buttoning those jeans........ this is why I HATE setting goals... when I fail at them I feel like crap.... I will try on Thursday with a gut sucker to get them buttoned but I'm not holding out much hope. Have a great day everyone! -

Denise: This is your decision.. but my first thought was that like my 4 year old she was testing you to see if you would follow through. Go with your gut not your mothers love........ I think the stress has tightened you up.... maybe a small fill now... heck I don't know..... maybe you should wait til the stress with dd subsides a bit.... KNOW THIS, no matter what you decide.. we will be right here rooting you on! -

First: WELCOME SCONE! I just had my 4th fill and I'm technically up to 4cc's in a 4cc band, however he has never pulled any out so I don't know what is really in there.... I on liquids tonight and tomorrow, my real test will be tomorrow night when I have spaghetti meat sauce for dinner. TracyK: HONEY we all greive food! I KNOW I DO... how many times have I been locked in my room cruising the board because the rest of my heathens were in the other room GORGING on the junk that I LOVE... FOOD was my best friend and worst enemy... happy, sad, mad, stressed, celebratory........ all were reasons for me to eat... how I used to crave a pizza....... (AN ENTIRE PIZZA) 2 fills ago I could still eat pizza... now I can't swallow an Aleave liquid gel!............. but like Michelle.. this is EXACTLY why I got the band! To help me over the hurdle of slaying the food dragon when my will power couldn't............. Sure I could stay on plan for as long as a year at a time......... but then I would cave and rebound and be right back up to 256.......... only the last time it was a max weight of 272,,,,,, a bad pattern that I EMPOWERED MYSELF TO STOP! JUST LIKE YOU HAVE DONE! WE are ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL very strong people to have taken this milestone step in our lives............ even Pam (who is too mellow for my liking right now) Lunasa, Sara, Panda, Angie.......... all who started strong and full of hope but have went MIA....... NONE of us (TERRY& Jennifur ESPECIALLY) have given ourselves the credit we deserve for perservering on this unknown journey. Ladies and any gents out there lurking....... KNOW THIS.............. YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME! Even if it is half a pound or half an inch........ YOU ARE AWESOME and DOING IT... quit beating yourselves up over the small crap. WE WILL GET THERE.... look around because we've taken on this journey many of us are becoming stronger in other aspects of our lives....... smoking, drinking, enabling, cutting deadweight.......... and the like.. look at the positives because that is what WE have in store for us....... OK........ all the liquid is going to my head.. I guess its time for me to step down off my protein shake and wish you all SWEET DREAMS and SMALLER JEANS! -
Considering Lap Banding... Very seriously.
TracyinKS replied to PCGIRL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I debated with myself for over two years......... continually beating myself up as a failure for even thinking it... but you know what. You are right being over weight is much more than the weight itself its all the crap that goes with it. Banding is best suited for volume eaters, and those of us that have been sucessful with diets but shitty at maint........... I would guess you are and EXPERT dieter... (I am) Maintaining the loss is my problem. Go to a seminar... heck pick several surgeons and attend their seminars listen to the questions asked and the answers given. Like Terry suggested .. stick around here and READ..... make your decision... and most of all know that YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE! You are actually being proactive in your Quest for knowledge GOOD LUCK! -
I was going to mention the MalleyBandWagon! Septembers meeting will be in his office, but Darlene is moving to New Hope (435&Nall) and in OCTOBER the meetings will be moved there. She said that she will be sending out emails with all the details. (I was just there this morning for a fill) I am going to try to make it to Septembers meeting. The nurses are hosting it as Darlene will be on vacation.

Dr. Malley patients WHERE IS DARLENE?
TracyinKS replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was in for my fill today and sure enough she is leaving the front desk at Dr. Malley's office although she will still be leading the seminars and the support group. She will be going back to a hospital setting at New Hope. She was training her replacement. -
Question for Dr. Malley patients regarding fills!!!
TracyinKS replied to citygirlnks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just had my fourth fill this morning with the good dr. He really takes into consideration what you want..... I was hollering so loudly at the time of my first fill that he gave me 1.5cc's which he said is THE MOST he would give to a patient on the first fill (even the bands) Today's fill got me to 4cc's in a band that holds 4cc's... I asked him how much my band REALLY held since I had read that they could be over filled.... he said that he doesn't have anyone with a small band that has over 5cc's. He said the big bands could hold over 120cc's before they actually bust. I'm 4 months post op #1 - 1.5cc #2 - .75cc or was it 1.25cc? #3 - 1 cc #4 - .75cc I am being a good bandster girl right now and am on liquids for 2 days! I almost felt the thing tighten inside me today...... (I'm sure this was in my head because I KNOW I'm getting close to capacity)& Also... I could of lived with NO fill but I could really tell that restriction loosened up late last week -

I mentioned my HUGE headache.... and without really thinking I popped a liquidgel Aleave (my doc has no problem with aleave) you guessed it........ the liquid gel thing felt like it got stuck........so I went down to the sisters dining room and got a cup full of STRONG probably THIS MORNINGS coffee thinking caffiene and heat would melt that sucker and let it pass........ OH MY........ coffee is nasty but I am unstuck. Headache is hinting at subsiding and its getting close to quitting time. I am having soup tonight...... maybe tomato. Terry what are you having? Where is Judy? I thought she was back? -
wet scrambled eggs are no problem. I often have them for dinner with cheese and what ever ingredient I have on hand. I still make too much and usually my son finishes them off for me. egg out of a egg mcmuffin.............. EVIL, DISGUSTING & Painful! NEVER AGAIN!
