Be ready for your consult.. that is what I'm doing..... I already had my obgyn write a letter stating my long history with obesity, and the various drugs they have prescribed over the years, plus my battle with infertility and PCOS.. I got it in the mail yesterday. I upped my flex spending account at work to cover my out of pocket max, I am taking a list of ALL my meds.. including my birth control with me.... I checked my companies Insurance SPD to make sure the surgery is covered and I also emailed my insurance company.......... My consult is January 8th, and I'm hoping that the drs office gets my info off to insurance asap, so that MAYBE I can be one of those lucky ones that gets approve in under 2 weeks......

Doctors Please List if you know...
TracyinKS replied to ProsperNLose's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I would say find out who in your insurance network of doctors performs the surgery and start shopping around! You MUST be proactive in the fight. Also go to your HR person and find out what provisions or exclusions are in your INSURANCE SPD (Plan Document) -
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!! Beets giving birth I love that, and I can relate!

When you call the insurance...what do you say?
TracyinKS replied to Plusizeteen's topic in Insurance & Financing
From your screen name.. are you still covered under a parents insurance or are you gainfully employeed with your own? Don't be shy when trying to find out info..... if you call your insurance company ask them WHAT EXACTLY do they need for your/your parents company SPD to approve the procedure. Also, start by finding out if you have any bariatric surgeons IN network of your insurance.. go with them first, because if they are a provider for your insurance company they will know better how to deal with them.. but getting info from the HR Benefits person is KEY... get to the bottom of any exclusions FIRST. GOOD LUCK -
I'm a pending bandster, and it took me quite a bit of soul searching to come to the decision.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
TracyinKS replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
this is awesome! I'm going the insurance route, but I really want my mom and step dad to do this, and he might just be the ticket for them... We live in KC, and a flight to Denver is pretty reasonable... (although not TODAY!) LOL -
Need to know if anyone else has dealt with UHC and being a new hire
TracyinKS replied to BRANDYK's topic in Insurance & Financing
NOW IS THE TIME TO GET IT ADDED!!!!!!!!! If your employer adds it then the insurance company has no choice but to approve it -
I was diagnosed with a HYPO thyroid.. (meaning underactive) or as in my case.. I just does not work on its own..... so I've been taking meds for it since the ripe ol age of 22.. I'm 37 now, and it is just part of my life.. it should have no effect on your surgery decision.

First Consult is Tomorrow!
TracyinKS replied to TracyinKS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
MCWMS!!!!! LOL that is so funny.. yeah.. I hang my life out there for all to read about, and if you've lurked over there for years you've seen me go DOWN the scale, and you've seen me go back UP! I still love my lcf buds, but I KNOW I run the chance of getting flamed by so openly announcing my choice to become a bandster.. but I don't care.... We ALL have our journeys, and I know that LC works FOR ME and I know that I'll be sticking to LC after the band, because the band is a tool for me to keep the weight off... AFTER I LOSE IT YET AGAIN..... Update to this original post.......... I decided to have Dr. Malley in KS, do my surgery... he is well talked about on here and on OH dot com. I signed up for his seminar and I actually have my consult scheduled for 1/08/2007. They emailed me today with a web movie they want me to watch before my appointment... I upped my FSA account to cover my out of pocket max, and I just got the card today... (It is so cool.. it's a prepaid Visa debit card with the entire amount on it) all I will have to do is swipe it at Dr. Malleys, and I'm paid for! that said........ if for some reason my insurance flops.. I will be buying a TON of Over the counter meds for EVERYONE this year! LOL Thanks for the post mcwms.. I think that is pretty neat that you recognize me from the other site............. or that means I have a big mouth! LOL ROFL!!!! BOTH I look forward to YOUR updates as you join BandLand!~:clap2:
