A question for those who went to Mexico

I think that no matter what country you live in going accross the border to another is a big decision. Finding after care could be a problem no matter what. Some docs won't even fill you unless THEY banded You in the first place. As for the comment about experience... MY OPINION... From the research I've personaly done the lap band is not a hard surgery to perform and if needed ANY licensed GENERAL surgeon can take it out. Yes experience is good, but also I would think that someone who has done 5000 of them might be getting a tad bit bored with it... (again MY opinion) but I don't have a surgeons brain, and it IS a question that I asked my own doc... He kind of chuckled and said... "Not Yet". To Laura the original poster. I hope you've found a doctor that will provide aftercare and if that means a general policy that you take out as supplemental then good on ya! Canadian, Australian, Mexican, American....... we all look the same on the inside! bunch'o'bloodn guts and slimy stuff..

    February 2007 bandsters!

TravelGIRL!!!!!!!!! 18 lbs is AWESOME! Liquid diet or not... 18 lbs WOOOHOOO! My doc only says 24 hours of liquid pre op, and then post op.. 3 days clear, 5 days full and then mushies (I think thats it... I'll have to check his website and print it out now that I have a date) Lizrbit! BeeSpit! LOL it is sugar but at least it is natural sugar! I am switching from my SF carnation creamer back to good ol half and half... it has less Manufactured STUFF and is cheaper... I actually prefere heavy cream but its half and half for right now. VJolly: Every doc is different my doc puts it in the same place for all his patients (which is the higher ribcage position) His VERY first band patient happens to work for him and he put hers down low and to the side and they have found that it gets irritated by slacks and other waistline garments.. her feed back helped him to decide to change the position. Have a great saturday!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

mary: I didn't need a diet history.. (SOME don't) consider yourself lucky that yours doesn't. I am right now eating my lunch and I am so proud of myself.... I'm having a salad with a few grape tomatoes (cut in half) a bit of shredded cheddar, a few sunflower seeds, ranch dressing and thin sliced ham rollups with a touch of cream cheese in the center. I had forgotten that I can actually eat really delicious things AND be low carb/healthy.... AND I've got boiled eggs cooling......... If I could pat myself on the back I'd do so LOL but I will admit, I have promised to make my grandma's "hamburger noodlebake" for dinner tonight, and it contains egg noodles.. I will try to keep my portion SMALL and have a salad with it FIRST

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Honestly.... LUCK! :rose: . I did however give them my weight chart, which I had detailed from 2003, it showed almost daily weigh in's when I was hot on the low carb bandwagon... and then months where I was off.., but overall it was NOT required by my determination department. Also on my psych eval I called some local places that were in my network, and they gave me the bs line that I would need no less than 3 sessions, and every test known to man... when I told them all I needed was a LETTER stating that I was of sound mind to make my own medical decisions the office lady became VERY snooty, telling me that SHE knew what my insurance required because they had 3 other people from my employer.... ANYWAY I argued with her and in the end I said... well I just call another BCBS in network provider and get my letter........ She snottily said.. (AND I'll be hear ready to make your appointment when you find out that you are wrong! Needless to say, I went 20 miles out of town to another psychologist and only had ONE 3 hour appointment and my letter the next week.
