the weather took an unexpected turn yesterday a 45 degree day turned into 60 .. and let me tell you THE BIKES WERE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!!!!!!!!!! The nutritionist that did my eval was skinny as a rail and even though she works with my surgeons office and was nice we differed GREATLY on the value of a low carb diet...... she actually made a fist and knocked on her head saying that my brain would not function unless I ate carbohydrates!! I about spit Water through my nose, because I've lost 80 lbs (3) times over the course of 7 years and not once did my brain quit working.... I launched into my spiel about how eating low carb helped my PCOS and cured this formally infertile woman.. (my son is an ATKINS baby) I started explaining the science of it and she about spit water out of HER nose, when I further explained how thing like an egg has .6 carbs in them so it is virtually IMPOSSILE to eat ZERO carbs........LOW CARB is much different than ZERO carbs... our session took 3 hours but in the end I just started nodding my head to get the hell out of there and she approved me.

Madam Bomb: HOLD ON YOUR IN FOR A RIDE!!!!!!! 1st WELCOME:biggrin1: 2nd AWESOME YOUR INSURANCE COVERS IT! (this is the biggest battle) 3rd WHOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO Your insurance covers it!:clap2: OK.. this is your policy coverage: Gastric restrictive procedures, gastric malabsorptive procedures, and combination restrictive and malabsorptive procedures to treat morbid obesity - a condition in which an individual has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more, or an individual with a BMI of 35 or more with co-morbidities who has failed conservative treatment; eligible members must be over 18. Benefits are also available for diagnostic studies and a psychological examination performed prior to the procedure to determine if the patient is a candidate for the procedure. a)Gastric Restrictive Procedures = LapBand procedure code: 43770 b)BMI of 40 or More = You meet this without any co-morbidities c)Failed with convservative treatment = Diet & Exercise, Pills (Make a list, get reports from weight watchers, any old weight charts you used while dieting on atkins, ww (I had a weight chart dating back to 2003 complete with pics) ALSO.. get copies of proof from those GYM memberships... d)You are over 18 e) sounds like you will have to do a psych eval (don't be suprised if you have to do a nutritional eval as well. Check out several local docs that take your insurance, each one may have different requirements...... KEEP US POSTED!

Andrea: Why don't you start attending some support groups? You sound like I feel right now...... MISERABLE....... you have the band, you have spent the money and the time..... now you must figure out a way to WORK with it, instead of fighting it. I can't speak to my own experience because I have yet to be banded, but as a person who has lost the same 80 lbs 3 times in my adult life... I recognize SELF SABOTAGE... that my dear I'm an expert...... which is why I come to these board every day, trying to teach myself that I MUST work the band...... for me that means a forced committment Low Carb diet, drinking my Water and as much as I hate to admit it...... EXERCISE. You wouldn't of been happy with the bypass either, because the chances are you would of stretched your pouch out after a few years and been back where you started except with less less innards. Go get a fill, and if you feel like you are begging... change doctors. at any rate: Here is a big cyber hug for you.

banded nov. 27- lost 30- gained 8 back?
TracyinKS replied to marmmalou's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The good thing about the band is that it is there waiting for him to work it! I agree with others.. try not to be the food police........ I have had to talk about this with my dbf... he thinks its HIS duty... HE HASN'T A CLUE...... (long story for another post) ) In short .. it does have to be him that decides, and I think once he finds the proper restriction he will start losing.
