    St Louis, Missouri/UHC

Annie: a word of caution....... ask this center if they specifically take UHC insurance....... I had this happen to me, (at a place here in KC) Luckily for me, I found a doc that was on my insurance BEFORE throwing away my money. The place in question told me that they accept insurance but what would happen is that they would have me pay $750 for paperwork, and then pay for the surgery and then they would get the insurance to reimburse me. there was a clause in their paperwork that also said that if I chose to go somewhere else I would forfeit the $750.00 I am not using them, and I happily found a doc that was in netork!

Jenn: You are not a baby.. and if putting your fears out here makes you feel better then....... DO IT! We all get different things out of this board.. I have fears too......... fears that if I lose it again that I will again regain it.. the fear of self sabotage, the fear of being a ROYAL "B" during the liquid stage....... the fear of screwing up my band and then having them have to remove it......... and the fear of all that money I'm putting away in my FSA ($3900.00 and it still won't be enough) but the greater fear is that I keep gaining weight and increasingly become less outgoing and energetic.. and that my friends is where I am at today.......... my mind says...... Tracy get out and walk, and then my lazy ass says .... tomorrow. As for your dbf bailing............ well.. this will be a test, and if he flunks then you win, because you will then KNOW.

WOW we are sure an introspective group today! WE ARE DEEEEEP! But ya know what???? I think we've all done our share of soul searching to get to the place we are at right now. (I know I have) I echo what Terri and Sara have said..... take a deep breath and stay calm... turn that anxiety into something positive.

    Surgery for hernia

My doc said that most people who have WLS, HAVE a hernia, and if it is big enough he will fix it during the surgery.. said it is usually one-two stitches and adds 5 minutes to the length of the operation.

Jennifur: do you ever watch the show ... crossing over with John somebody??? If you do, you would not be freaked.. you would know that when you think about someone who's passed that by you thinking about them it draws their energy to you...... he says that they don't spend their time watching us, but it is the act of us thinking about them that draws them closer........... the cabinet door that is open.. IS HER sending you a sign telling you that she knows your thinking about her and that she appreciates the flowers........... OK this may sound kooky, but I actually talk to my grandma ALL THE TIME like this.. she was a very strong force in my life and I draw peace from knowing that I can talk to her...... Instead of being freaked out about it.... feel peace I also had a friend that was killed by a drunk driver when we were teenagers........ every once in a while I would have a dream that she was talking to me.. (this has been MANY years ago) I remember one dream in particular.. I was like "Karen you are supposed to be dead!" She just smiled and said "I'm not dead silly, I'm right Here!" and I think she lovingly called me an asshole.... (lol) After I got layed off I kind of got hooked on that show, and it really helped me. He says that dreams like that are their way to communicate... now I KNOW it sounds weird, but I truly do think it is so. oh.. and I think we all use our fat as a shield in some respects.......

Terry: on a very great Low Carb website called Low Carb Friends, Kimmer was a gal who lost a BUNCH of weight following Low Carb, she taylored it to her needs and over the years became so popular that she has now started her own site, and I think she is even making money off it...... Regular induction levels of Atkins is 20 carbs per day... (minus fiber)... it allows, eggs, meat, cheese.. (does NOT count fat) When some plateau, they go on the meat fast............... which is STRICT.. meat and eggs and water! (almost instant weight loss) but it is hard (for me to stick to) Guys..... low carb works.. if done right, but for me I go off the wagon and gain it all back.... I KNOW.. that if I did STRICT induction levels I would lose aroun 30 lbs before surgery.... (I have done it so many times) but for some reason I can not bring myself to stick to it right now........ Low Carb helped my PCOS, and enabled me to get pregnant...... when shots, charts, and pills couldn't...... you'll never in a million years tell me it doesn't work.......... BUT... it is HARD to stick to for a lifetime.. and is the reason I'm here today.

I changed the broccoli to 1 cup from .5 for the fiber example, but that still only adds 20 extra calories. Let's add a few more veggie favorites of mine with their fiber counts: Mushroom, raw, 1 cup - 1 Bell peppers, raw, .5 large - 1 Italian tomato, raw - 1 Cauliflower, cooked, 1 cup - 3 Cucumber, raw 1 large - 2 Zucchini, 1 large - 4 Bean sprouts, 1 cup stir fried - 2 Spinach, 1 cup cooked - 4 Artichoke, 1 medium - 6 If were to add up the calories for this bounty of veggies, we'd come in at only 432 with 36 gm fiber! Nutritionists recommend 30 gm of fiber daily for healthy bowel function. At maintenance, just 1 cup of cooked pinto beans is 15 gm of fiber (half!) which can be absolutely delicious made in a low calorie way with Mexican spices to make "chili". It's also 25% of your RDA for protein (incomplete but other protein choices will add the necessary aminos, or add chicken)." <!-- / message -->

Terri: about your sister, tell her your either having a hernia fixed or gallbladder surgery. If you know from the get go she will become uncorked and a blabbermouth.. DON"T DO IT to yourself.... then after, if she notices that you are not eating the same amounts of food, you can say that you are just not hungry. Don't bother your mom, just keep on being there for her. As for your DH... well... I'm DIVORCED LOL, but my dbf (of 2 years now) we have money issues too.. Long complicated story, but just know that it is a powerful issue in a marriage. It DOES sound like he is a bit insecure or heck even Jealous that you are paying more attention to the surgery and maybe this board than to him, and he is not liking it.......... I dunno.. I can just give you a cyber hug! LapDancer: HEY WOMAN!!!!!!!! glad to see you posting! I can not wait for you to get your surgery date and then we can lose this weight! NOTE to everyone: LD and I were INSURANCE thread maniacs at the same time! Michelle: YUMMM that sounds delish! I hope you make it to your consult today! ME: well I'm blissfully alone in the house..... dbf is on call this weekend and he has already been called out til at least noon. My son is at grandma's and his sons are at their moms! I am planning to take apart the kitchen and really clean the sucker... (a few weeks ago dbf and the boys took down one of the walls and made it bigger.. so the area is a construction zone!) I have like a zillion things to do around here.. so I really need to get my butt off the puter!
