First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos
mksw3812 replied to John337's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So I had my first fill on the 15th, 3 was in from surgery which I didn't know and they put in 1.6 so I am up to 4.6 in a 10cc band. It hurt a little but the weirdest sensation was the pressure, it felt like someone sitting on you, I have to say I got a little shaky at first, but everything is fine now, some restriction, go back on 7/13 for another fill. -

I think a combination of the PCOS and an anti-depressant that I was put on for anxiety caused me to gain around 30-40 lbs in a short period of time. As far as the pain from the banding the first week was rough but you get through it and just focus on your long term goals. A lot of people think it is this easy way out and its not it takes dedication and hard work but there is a lot of support out there. -

I understand a lot of your concerns, I have been overweight my adult life, I have PCOS and severe anxiety problems. I was just banded on 5/18 and am currently awaiting my first fill on 6/15. You have to have faith that you can do this. It is not an easy process, nor an overnight process. I had to do a 2-week pre-op diet and am 3 weeks post op and still have only lost 14 lbs all of which I lost from the pre-op diet. It is definately a long process that takes a lot of patience but there are many people to support you and answer your questions. Good Luck. -
I was also banded on 5/18 and have gained around 4 pounds since surgery. Although it is very frustrating you have to hang in their. I had to do a 2 week preop diet and my dr assures me that since I am eating regularly that is why there is weight gain. I realize this is a slow process and it is hard to change years of bad habits. Hang in there, you can do it.
