I had similar symptons in Jan the day befor the super bowl.. I went to the ER and they only checked to make sure I wasn't having a heart attack or anything other heart related issues.. all was fine.. Thank God. Went to the lapband dr that Monday and it was my band, I was having spams radiating back in forth I couldn't tell if it was coming from my stomach or my chest. Needless to say it was my stomach.. But since your dr is out of town and to be on the safe side I would go to the ER, I didnt' have any jaw pains or the other pains you're describing. I hope everything has worked out of will be work out.

That happend to me a couple of weeks ago, I had received a fill, and I was dead at restriction, so I thought great. For 3 weeks I was at the dr's office from Jan 27th up to Feb 17th.. He had to unfil all the fill that he had placed in on Jan 27th. It was very painful when I ate, I couldn't even eat yogurt without discomfort. I was just to tight, he only had placed .5 in. I would say that if you are in pain and unable to eat, after the first week, you should have already went back and got some taken out. You don't want to cause your band to slip. I have no restriction now, I believe he took out more than .5. But I'm letting my stomach rest for now, I'm due to go back to the dr April 28th.. So I've been doing more exercising because I don't want to gain any weight back. Hope this helps.

Hi I also see Dr. Murr in Tampa, Fl at the USF center at TGH Campus, to make an appt the number is 813-974-2201. I was band in April 09. I love Dr. Murr I went to him because he did my friends gastric bypass 13 yrs ago.. And he is very attentive to his patients and he listens to them.

I keep filling and unfilling. Is this common?
tyhelms replied to IrishGirlTaken's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
maybe he should try .1 or .2 cc instead of the big cc's. I recenlty had a to tight issue with the band and I've had the band for about 22 months. I have a 10 size band and I'm no where up to 8 cc's. I can't seem to get past 4 without being to tight. So I'm thinking that next time I go the the dr that maybe he can start at the smallest cc for a fill. And increase the exercise.. because our bodies are kind of use to the same thing. I think you've done great to have lost that much weight because I'm no where near that.. Keep up the good work. -
Irriated/uncomfortable feeling going down suggestions please?
tyhelms posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, lapband friends. I received a fill on 01/27/2011 and had to get a slight unfill on 02/04/2011. Everything seem to be fine up until this am..02/15/2011. First of all I had pizza last night on Valentines, went to bed short after I ate, and woke up this morning with like heartburn. I have taken some anacids and it seems to have eased up a bit. But now everytime I eat or drink something it hurts going down. It seems as if maybe I'm esphogas is irriated or something like that. I'm going to attempt to go back on sliders to see if it will go away, do you think maybe I need another unfill? Have you experienced this? Thank you Banded April 15th 2009. -

Well I wanted to give you all an update. I went to the dr on Thursday 17th Feb (17th) and he took the rest of the fill out that he had placed in there on the 27th of Jan which was .3. And when I tell you I'm relieved and I feel a whole lot better, it's amazing what this band can do . I guess from now own when I go he will doing small ajustments like .1 or something. Basically I was too tight.. Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm a happy camper now.. -
2nd fill-will it get looser or do I need an unfill? Please help!
tyhelms replied to Danielle51079's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah call your dr and get a slight unfill.. I 'm kind of in the same boat as you and I have had an unfill on Feb 7th. I'm able to drink liquids and shakes but I'm not doing to well with solid foods.. It's a very uncomfortable feeling going down, a little pain. I might have to go back myself. But since you can't keep anything down, you need to go so you want get dehyrdated.. Good Luck!! -

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, talk with dr today on phone, and she advised that I get prilosec also or omeprazole. She said my esphogus might be irriated and that if it doesn't get any better I can come in on Thursday( 2morrow) or Monday.. I'm not eating breads at all though..it's just anything that I eat that's solid. Keep you updated. -

Thanks for your help.. Well I went to the dr on yesterday afternoon Monday.. He immediatley had me get a chest xray and stomach xray of the band. He told me that I had a lot of gas in my stomach and it was an enormous amount that he hadn't seen. So what he did was take out .2cc, he says that should help it and if it doesn't I will have to come back and he unfill me completely.. This is the first time this has happended to me,, I'm thinking maybe I was just a little to tight that nothing could move.. but I was able to eat, but just a small amount. I feel a lot better since he took out some though.. it's funny because I started burping and everything.. My stomach feels a whole lot better today.. Wow.. this band is something else.. Thanks.

GM.. everyone. I received a fill on Jan 27th,2011, and on friday Jan 4th.. I noticed I was in a little pain. I thought that maybe it was gas, so i took gas x thinking that maybe air had got trapped in the band after the fill, but needless to say that didn't work.. It feels like my stomach is bloated and it feels like spams radiating back and forth.. I decided on Sat morning that maybe I needed to go to the er to just make sure everything was ok, since the pain was radiating and I couldn't tell if it was in my chest or my stomach.. Thankfully everything checked out great with my chest/heart, that's the first thing the er keyed in on. I was released and sent home.. nothing was checked on the band. Needless to say I'm still having the pain do you think it might be my band? has anyone else had this happend to them? I'm going to see the dr today at 3:15 so we'll see if it's the band..

Wow. Thank you... did it stop with the anit spasm medication? so you didn't get a slight unfill.. we'll I'll see what he says this afternoon.. I think I'm at my sweet spot though.. Thanks.

I believe you need an unfil. I went on last Thursday 27th of Jan. And I know I'm at my sweet spot because I feel totally different than I've had before. Thankfully I've been able to keep fluids down and jello and yogurt and even a salad on yesterday.. You probably just need a slight adjustment like .2 taken out or something like that.. I'm scared though to start on real food solids you would say... but tonight I plan on eating spaghetti hopefully that will be ok, but we'll see.. call your dr and try and get in asap, because you don't want to be become dehyrdrated.. Good Luck..

I think you need to call your dr, because you should be able to get water down, and other liquds. You don't want to get de hyrdrated so you might need a slight unfil. I would call ASAP.

hitting a horrible plateau
tyhelms replied to lynmcg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in your situation.. I received a fill on 10/28/2010, doing those 5 days on liquid and puree foods I lost 6lbs when I was able to eat solid foods again, I have gained the 6lbs back and can't seem to loose kick them. I must admit on Thanksgiving I did eat sweets but I got right back on track been having yogurts for breakfast with boiled eggs. I do hear sometimes you hit a plateau, but I might take Chei's suggestion on the thread and start cutting out all carbs for a while..it's very frustrating.. Maybe you should take that suggestion also.. -
My dr is Dr. Murr (Tampa General Hospital) he did my surgery and he does my fills, I only pay my copayment which is $40 dollars.. I'm not sure what the cost is if I don't have insurance but I'm sure you can give them a call. 813-974-2201

Hi shante87, my experience with Dr. Murr has been great. I attended 6 months of the weight loss classes because I wasn't able to get my former pcp to sign off due to her personal concerns that she had about the band. I used Dr.Murr because he had do gastric bypass on my friend 9 yrs before I had the band and she loved him. I can defintely say the same he is very professional and very nice... He has a lot of dr's that work under him and my experience with them has been pleasant. My surgery was an outpatient and I was sent home the same day, I followed all the instructions in the booklet they gave me. Do you have any specific questions you want to ask me if so you can do so. I can tell you everybody body is different. I actually have my appt with Dr. Murr next week for another fill. I have not lost the weight that I desire but it's a process. It's some things I've could have did a lot better than I've did so I take responsiblity for that. Exercise, exercise..

Hi, band buddies I haven't posted in some time. Here is my dilema. I got a fill in June. This is the issue, I beleive I'm at my sweet spot but I'm not loosing any weight. I have been doing a lil walking every other day, but not much of anything else. I'm not really able to eat much and I'm really having a hard time with eating meats.. I don't know if I'm taking to big of a bite or not chewin long enough. I have my good & bad days with it. I'm able to eat a 6 inch sub toasted. I'm able to eat soup, kraft macaroni & cheese basically mushies just fine. I go back to my surgeon on the 28th of this month do you all think I need another fill or an unfil? I'm really frustrated at this point. Any suggestions or advice? Thank you. Banded April 15th 2009

You know I think you're right, especially as far as the foods not holding me. I'm thinking maybe if I could eat a little more of meats, maybe I'll be full longer. I'm able to eat salads fine, but those don't keep you full for 4hrs. I can only eat toasted breads anything else will come back up. Maybe it would cut down my calorie intake, I'm going to see what the dr says on the 28th, but in the mean time, I'm going to contiunue to fix my protein shakes and add maybe some tuna.. I ususally eat baked fish twice a week and don't have a problem with that. Thanks for your input. -
I love potato soup it last very long for me... especially if it's creamy... yummie. And I also love the sloppy joe.. but potato soup any day for me..

Yeah another Dr. Murr patient.. I also live in Tampa, and I only pay my co-pay for fills which is $40.00. Dr. Murr did my surgery and his staff is great. I actually get numb for my fills it's a little uncomfortable at times because where my port is located, but I survive. He's at the USF Center at Tampa General Hospital. Hope everything works out for you.
