I'm not getting frustrated yet but do stay a little bit hungry at times. My banding date was Dec. 30th. I feel like I could eat almost anything - BUT DON'T This is from the nutritionist & NOT the Dr. but he follows her hand out. Now I'm on a clear liquid & semi-liquid diet for 2 weeks. The meals should be high in protein and low in carbs and as of today I'm down 25 pounds. I eat an average 850 calories and 70 gr of protein each day & drink a lot of liquid. The next two weeks (3&4) can now be pureed high protein low carb food. The first pureed food to add should be chicken/fish, then pudding & yogurt, Then pureed vegetables and finally add back pureed carbs such as mashed peas, sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes. Only 1/2 cup at a time. I can start this on 1/13 & never thought I would be looking forward to pureed food - of any kind but I am. The goal of the week 3&4 diet is to eat when hungry or eat to prevent hunger. If a snack is needed choose a high protein options like 3 tablespoons cottage cheese, 1 cup liquid protein drink, or 6 tablespoons sugar free instant pudding made with 1 scoop of protein power. Week 5 post-op I can go to soft food ~ preferably high protein and choose a healthy choice side item like fruit or veggies. I don't know what happens after week 5. Maybe a fill and back to pureed food - yum..... It is not easy but we can all do it. This thing will work for all of us - don't give up. There have been to many in front of us that have succeeded and they had the same problems. We can do it.

Try this http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f22466/december-delights-2009-a-106299/index23.html#post1388171 or search December Delights 2009 On the drinking thing my lap-band book says that "alcohol has a high number of calories and breaks down Vitamins but an occasional glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage is not considered harmful to weight loss". I would think a beer would be like a coke with the carbonation and all but they do sell some low carb lite beer. Good going all!!

Hi Amber ~ Welcome to the group!!:smile2:

Hello everyone. I keep up with my food on the official Lap-Band site on the part called My lap-band journey and I had 546 calories/47.7 protein on the 31st and 777/62 on the 1st. I have not totally been on "clear liquids" as I have a protein shake with a teaspoon of peanut butter added. I also had a pureed Campbell's healthy choice vegetable soup - 1 cup. I have not lost any weight either but feel mostly satisfied. Does anyone else use the Lap-Band site? They have recipes, success stories and different journals you can use along with some other helpful information. TTFN.........

banded, 12/29,questions
ocracoke replied to weightandsee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all. I've had quite a bit of gas but no burping. The pain around the cuts this morning is much better but not gone yet. Still hurts most around the port. Good luck all!! -
I know my Dr said that there was very little solution in the band right now and a person could almost eat normal. However he said time was needed to heal around the band(that could take a month) and he recommends the liquid for 2 weeks and pureed for 2 weeks. I pureed some Campbell's healthy select vegetable soup today and had no trouble eating 1/2 cup of that. It was thick but stayed down and also tasted OK. I'm also doing my protein shake which gives me a good meal.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
ocracoke replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had some ham on Christmas day. -
I am officially banded as of yesterday and came home from the hospital today. Everything went smooth according to the surgeon but I am quiet sore around the cuts, of which there are 5. The most pain is on the left side where the port is. I haven't had much of an appetite yet so am trying to drink. I'm supposed to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks and then pureed mushies for 2 weeks. I didn't ask about when the first fill will be but I go back to the Dr. in two weeks and will ask then. From what everyone is saying you are able to eat quiet a bit until that fill. Hopefully there will be no weight gain. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

9 hours until I go to the hospital - can't hardly wait. Good Luck to all those going on the 30th. :smile2::w00t:

Welcome aboard New Joy!! I'm also to be banded on the 30th but I have to be at the hospital @ 0615. They did all my blood work and stuff today so I'm ready to go. First I've heard of a 3 day diet - mine has been 2 weeks. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Well the last of the Dec bandsters are about to get their turn. I must admit I cheated Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. I had small amounts of turkey, ham, dressing, & potatoes. No sweets! It was sooooo good but made me have a guilty feeling. I gained 2 pounds but fasted most of yesterday and when I weighed today I was down 3 pounds, I guess no harm done. 3 more days to go for me!! Getting excited - can't hardly wait!! Good luck to the remaining Dec. bandsters. May God bless us and those who have gone before us. Hi MelissaO, Welcome to the club. I started my pre-op diet Sunday just because I didn't think I would do very good. I have to admit it hasn't been easy. I tried Chike high protein shakes which were very good. You can get 5 packs of different flavors for FREE! All you pay is $6.95 S&H so not totally free. They were good. Good luck to all!!
-
GOOD LUCK ICE!!!!!!!!!! Looks like you have done very well on your pre-op diet. Hopefully everything will go smooth and you will continue on your journey of change. I'm due to be banded on the 30th so we will be close. Let us all know how you feel after - as soon as you are up to it. Good luck!!

Hey building_a_new_temple - good to see you in the group. I hope I can stay awake for the new year. Depends on the pain or pain pills. Some have said its better to sleep through the first couple of days. Anyway a glass of water might just toast in the new decade. Good luck to all of todays bandsters: librarychick, adagray, TracyW2, Melinco, drumr2112, ChaosIsOrder, ididit35, terrimj, kim60, JohnDRobinson

Hey Jenny - my banding date is also the 30th. I started diet Sunday and have lost 10 lbs so far. Hang in there we can do it. 2010 can be the best year ever.

I know what you mean. I'm on day 2 of the pre-op and feel very hungry - hopefully it will get better. I can have some real food though. For evening meal I can have Oz of chicken or fish and a half cup of green veggies. I think I will go make it now - can't wait much longer. I also can have 3 protein shakes a day. Lost 4 pounds yesterday. Good luck all.
