Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor live in Modesto Ca. area.. wanted someone to talk to
vlemus posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Waterford Ca. which is near Modesto in northern ca central valley. I'm 36 and have 4 kids a husband and three Bulldogs. I was banded on May 29th 09'. I have lost about 30lbs since I first saw the doctor. about 20 since the surgery. I have had 4 fills in a 14cc band I think she said I have 6cc in there. My last one was on Oct. 6th. Two days ago I had some chicken which I have been eating almost everyday for a month. I had about half of what I normally eat and then threw it up. Since then I have had terrible pain whenever i eat and fill full by just eating a couple of bites. I was just wondering if there was someone in my area that I could talk to... -
Stuck!!! OH MY GOD!!

Believe it or not my first stuck expierience was with rice of all the stupid things. I had my second fill the day before, my husband insisted on chinese food. I figured brocoli and beef and some fried rice would be ok. I chewed the broccoli and even spit some of the beef out, but when I ate a spoonfull of rice I thought I was goung to die. I drank water I gaged finally I went to the bathroom and threw it up. I had this industrial strength slime all over my plate. It was crazy. I can eat chicken thighs but not breast, I can have a sandwich if I use a good thick bread. They make a protein bread now and its pretty good. after my third fill I can have half a sandwich and some dorrittos. My problem is not being able to stop drinking when I eat. -
not as well as others appear to be

Try taking Excedrin Migrane 15 min before you take pain meds. I have a bad back, thats why i had the band done. Because I take an absurd amount of pain meds, cant excercise and have to sleep on my couch because i cant get out of bed in the morning. Sorry my point is some pain meds cause headaches and the Excedrin helps. I was in pain (stomach wise ) for a few months. I still have some pain if I eat too much. And if I bend over I have pain where my port is...Weird. -
Your feeling sick all the time because you are eating too much at a time.. I know because I did the same thing and still do sometimes. You miss the food and want the band out..Its as simple as that..Dont think that you can fool me because I was the same way. I do think you are crazy if you would go through surgery to SAVE your life and then risk your life a second time to take out the one thing that was going to help you the most. If your surgeon takes out your band without making you see a psychiatrist then he is a bad doctor....Dont eat as much...Eat smaller softer foods. Take b-12 liquid or have him give you b-12 shots once a week. You will start feeling better. You JUST made a major adjustment to you anatomy. Your body needs time to heal and you need to learn how to eat all over. I had my surgery in may and just last night I ate two chicken strips and felt like shit. I wished I hadnt eaten the second one. But I skipped breakfast..BAD NO NO. and was way too hungry and ate too much...And then what happens... You get nauseous...If you take it out you will be a quiter and you WILL end up fat again.....BECAUSE you miss the food.....

I had my band done in May. I lose soooo much hair everytime I wash it I just get huge handfulls of hair. I am loosing so much hair that I have started washing my hair only once a week because I cry everytime I wash it. I used to have thick curly hair and consisdered it my best asset....Not anymore...I have been told to take biotin but keep forgeting. Im going to try rogain for women or men or anything that will bring it back. OH YEAH it seems like the only ones that arent falling out are the half grey ones... I need hair help too.

I was banded in May of this year and the tiredness kick in for me as well. Some days I would just sleep all day. After about three months I told myself this is enough and started trying all kinds of different remedies. The ones that work the best are the b-12 shots from the doctor or liquid b vitamins that i got from smoothie king. Also I got some Acia berry vitamin weight loss pills and those work great. Just make sure to take vitamins and ask your doctor if he can give you a b-12 shot before you go back to work....Good luck....Valerie

vlemus replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didnt want to tell any of my "friends" wich are my husbands softball friends wives, because I really dont consider them friends. I think its none of thier business. BUT my husband decided to tell the one husband that has the wife with the biggest mouth, now im sure everyone knows. Her reaction was first, can I get one and the $^%*& wears a size 12. and second thing she said was oh now your going to have to watch it because shes gonna be hot and all the guys will ask for her number. Shes lucky I wasnt ther because I would have told her that guys ask for my number now how bout you... -

3+ weeks out and need food ideas
vlemus replied to lisa s-p's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on the 29th. I am on soft foods but have had birthdays and just a bunch of stuff going on and had to find places to eat out. I go to jack in the box and get the grilled chicken strips without the fries and with tea. They are moist and i looked up the calories and they are a good choice for fast food. also kfc grilled no skin. But and i know it was a stupid thing to try but i tried some of my sons crunchy taco from taco bell cause he only eats the meat part and leaves the lettuce and cheese. I chewed it like 50 times and was fine. I cook my fruits except strawberries i use a hand blender and mush them and use it over yogurt and cottage cheese. Ive had asparagas (thats prob. spelled wrong) with no problems. I kind of eat what ever i want but just small portions and chew it until its liquid. Ive lost 12 pounds so far. and 2% of my body fat. I also was like a 45 something bmi and now im a 43 something. I eat alot of salmon. Walmart sells frozen packages that have four pieces for $4.96. they are about 3oz. after they are cooked. use some olive oil, lemon pepper, season salt and garlic powder. Its better than a resteraunt and cooks in about 5 min. If anyone has any more Protein ideas I need help with that. and veggies. And where do you guys find thos cool bmi and weight los trackers at the bottom of your messages. A good places to go is www.myfitnesspal.com it tracks all your food and its free it has every food you can think of and fast foods too. It helps you find good choices and realize why we are so fat becase a medium fry has like 700 calories. check it out it helps and its free. -
I was banded on 5/29/09. My surgeon is Dr. Antonio Coirin. I live in Modesto, Ca. I am new to this and confused about how much i can eat now. I feel like I can eat more than I should be able to. Im hopping it changes with the fills. I did have a complication two days after surgery. I spiked a fever and had to go back to the hospital for thre days. I have been fine since then.
