Hi all, new to this particular forum but hope to get some input....so I reached my goal but not done yet I was banded in 2009. I sought out cosmetic surgery, pannectomy, tt, breast lift with minimal reduction, arm lift. I have Aetna insurance I was denied, BUT today my surgeon had a "peer to peer" phone conference I am praying now for good news, none of the above procedures are for looks, they are necessity each one...has anyone experienced this has anyone been approved after the peer to peer conference?? I also have Medicare but can't seem to get any input on how they can help ... Any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated ... I am sad frustrated and feel near tears over all this Thanks in advance.

LisaMarie65 replied to LisaMarie65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you so much for your helpful reply, i had surgery april 30th. this is wierd though i took a walk, and a small nap after i posted my question and it appears the pain has subsided, it has been almost an hour now since i woke up and no pain....i will however be cautious, watch what i eat and enjoy the fireworks from my front porch...thank you again and happy fourth of july:rolleyes2: -
can someone tell me if there is pain associated with stretching the pouch? i dont believe this is what i did as i eat the alloted amounts. i have a "cramp" in my abdomin area it is best to describe it as a stitch, or the cramp you get when you run. it doesnt hurt when i sit or lay down, and is relieved with tylenol, its a pulling feeling i hope i am describing this correctly can anyone help? its annoying and becoming concerning, about 2 days now. did yard work pretty strenuos could i have simply pulled something? what happens when you stretch the pouch ?? help any advice is appreciated. no nausea, no vomiting.:smile2:

please dont get discouraged, you just had this done 2 days ago if i am reading your post correctly, at this point i was on a full liquid diet, i did not advance to the "mushy" stage for at least a 10 days. my first couple of weeks were a little rough with some soreness but not enough to use script pain meds, what i did was get moving right away. i was banded on a thursday, spent the nite in the hospital, came home friday evening and on saturday was out walking it was for only 10 minutes but then on sunday i went to a community college play with my daughters and did some walking that day and then it just took off from there, 15 minutes up the block, then around the block and then further. you are eating all the right foods, the same that i ate, stay on track and dont get discouraged. follow the instuctions from your nutritionist or doc, you will see it will pay off. i liked sugar free jello as a treat, but for meals you could try creamed (strained) soups (try the chicken and tomato)very filling. once you have your first fill you will definitly be feeling fuller longer, in the meantime if you are really having a problem talk to the nutritionist she/he may have some other ideas for you...stay strong and keep the faith .... remember this is the beginning of a new life its going to take time to get used to it, but you will... remember to always smile..it makes things so much easier.. : - )

hey yall, just went to my one month follow up the other day and first fill. I have lost 25lbs since my procedure on April 30th 2009. I am thrilled, checked scale this morning down 2 more lbs. I have to admit that summer is hard because we are a grilling family, but i have adjusted, instead of a hamburger i grill my self a fat free skinless hotdog, ... good without a bun and with just a little bit of mustard, or i boil a small boneless skinless breast of chicken in the house and then put it on the grill for a few minutes to give it that grilled flavor. if we grill veggies i have a small amt. with my first fill i cant seem to have more than a small amt. i am walking daily at least 30 minutes, and will start my strength training soon. this hasnt been easy but its paying off, i tried on a swimsuit i bought at the end of 07 for a trip to florida it was semi tight and now it is so baggy its awful, my hubby said well we are going back down so ya better get shoppin...what a guy. i am looking forward to our trip to florida, it isnt until august so i have even more time to lose more. i want to wish everyone good luck its a rough road but its worth it ... dont get discouraged and look to the future:thumbup:

One week anniversary

hello, the gas pain will pass pretty quickly, and it is not to bothersome, i felt it was more psychological, as at first i didnt even think about it until a resident reminded me of it the day after my surgery. please be careful where you go for this procedure, you really need a surgeon that has a team that is going to see you thru from start to finish and actually care. I was fortunate in that i live near The Cleveland Clinic. I have the whole nine yards, nutritionist, psychologist, nurse team, surgeon, surgeons assistant, surgeons nurse, support groups ect. it has been a week and 4 days now and i feel great, aside from some minor very minor pinching from my incisions (no stitches or staples, glue) i feel really good, i advanced to pureed foods and for mothers day dinner i had whipped sweet potato it was soooo good to eat human food again, BUT i havent abandon my protien shakes, they are a good boost of protien in the AM. good luck to you, it is a nervous but exciting time. -
I am so happy and I feel really good. I survived my first week. pain is way at a minimum, i am back to walking my 30 minutes a day,(a little slower though:unsure:) and have got this liquidy diet down pat. switching to pureed on sunday, yea my daughter is making a roast in the crockpot she is gonna puree me a small piece i cannot wait. anything beats carnation instant breakfast, strainded cream soup and yogurt smoothies:tongue_smilie:ugh!. I do have a question I know in my intro i asked about regular food, i am NOT a fast food eater never was but my one down fall and treat was a Mickey D's cheeseburger (no fries yeech). will I ever be able to have a small amount of one of those????? any response would be great and any advise would be better...thanks yall..
