I go back on June 1st. I figured I would be going during May but he will be on vacation most of the month. That is perfectly fine with me. Gives me a little longer to get weight off.
-
Good afternoon everyone! I started m/e today and hoping to pull some big numbers. I went to the doc Friday and he and the nurse were very happy with my progress! I don't go back to see him until June 1st so by then, I should be at my mini goal. Actually if my trend continues, I will reach it far before then. :biggrin1: Avilla I am so excited to see your ticker!! That is fantastic! Keep it up and you will be at 70 lbs. lost in no time! :clap2: I'm sorry to hear that some are struggling but like Tann said, it's a new month so let's commit to succeed this month. Convincing yourself that you can do it is half the battle (at least for me it is).

Well, I had my appt. with Dr. Pitt on Friday and he did not give me a fill. I left it up to him whether or not he thought I needed one and he said he didn't think I did right now. He and Louann were both shocked that in 6 weeks I lost 20 lbs. I sure hope this trend continues!

:welcome2:Tammy we would love to have you join us in bootcamp! Basically what we do is post our stats to begin with. Weight and measurements if you are comfortable with that. Also a goal that you would like to achieve by the end of bootcamp. Some post their daily menus as well as what they did as far as exercise and Water drinking for the day. Our main objective is to support one another but also push each other along. We are a family here! You can always gain strength from a fellow bootcamper when you don't have enough to get you by. If you need a shoulder to cry on or a friendly push in the right direction, we will be there for you whether it's weight related, family, job...whatever. Welcome aboard!! :biggrin1:

Welcome to LBT Colleen!! It sounds like you are well on your way to bandland. Everything you go through is well worth it. Good luck to you and keep us posted on how things are going.

Everyone is different when it comes to restriction. I have read on here several times that the first fill a lot of times will absorb into the band and doesn't give true restriction. I don't know about that, I have never heard it from the doc but it makes me wonder. 1 cc may not be enough for you. I currently have 2 cc's in my band and I have a feeling he may give me another fill tomorrow. Don't be discouraged if you don't notice a huge difference right now. It may take more fills or sometimes they say it takes a week or so for the fill to really start working. I figure he will give you another fill when you go see him next. That's how he did me.

I have been buying new shoes! I started out between a 8 1/2 and 9, depending on the brand and type of shoe. And they were always wide width. This weekend I bought size 8's MEDIUM! I was ecstatic! I figured the width would go down but hadn't given any thought to the length. I'm always looking for an excuse to shop...what a nice one!

Good morning fellow bootcampers! Hope everyone's day is off to a wonderful start. It's foggy and dull today but I am in a good mood. I got on the scale this morning and I was down 1 pound! I was ecstatic and surprised! I figured since I have been sitting in meetings day and night and not moving around, I would be up but I am down. I have been trying to do well with my diet since I can't exercise this week but I have even failed at that. I had a meeting out of town yesterday and we went to Olive Garden for lunch so I figured I was doomed. I love that place WAY TOO MUCH. I didn't do too bad though. I decided to splurge a little and order my fav meal and then took most of it home to hubby and he is having it for lunch today. I knew that it could be destructive if I ate it two days in a row. You know of course the evil voice in my head said, "Don't eat any salad, you don't want to fill up on it and not get the good stuff". So I indulged my little evil voice and avoided the salad. :heh: Just to report in, I have exactly 20 lbs. now to go to get to 299. With me starting m/e on Monday, I am confident that I will reach and surpass that goal by Memorial Day!! :clap2: Teresita, how ya doin? You have been on my mind. I hope all is well. Turner, yesterday must have been a weak day for a lot of us. We will be stronger today!!! We will knock those temptations out of our minds!:boxing: Tann you have such strength! Way to go on resisting temptation! Josette, I had the same problem right before surgery. Since I had stopped my bc, I hadn't had a normal period and then one day I started. I kept going and going and going. They did a biopsy to see what was going on, pap tests, etc. Like Shoresexy, my lining was thick and hadn't shed correctly so over time, it built up. (Nasty, I know, sorry.) They also said that that my hormones were out of whack and after going on progesterone (sp?), it cleared up. Now I am normal! I am sure that the weight I have lost has helped a great deal with it. I know it's hard but keep your head up. Avilla! That new ticker looks great!! It may be slow but you keep up the hard work girl! You are going to make it! I am so happy for you!

Fantastic! He gave me my first fill early as well. I remember how very greatful I was! I go tomorrow and I wonder if he's going to want to give me a fill. Did he have any trouble finding your port? The first time he had no problems finding mine but since then it hasn't been that easy. I've had one done by x-ray and the last one he used an ultrasound. He tries for quite a while to find the port before going to something else. I know he always feels bad about "rooting" that needle around in me to find the port but it doesn't bother me. I'm looking foward to my appt. tomorrow.

In order to save time, hubby and I are thinking about flying when we go on vacation this summer. We have never been on anything but a small 4 seater plane so this is new to us. What airlines are the best when it comes to accommodating larger people? I have horrors of getting on the plane and the seat or the belt being too small. Can the experienced flyers here please give me some advice?

Here I am! I haven't been hiding, just busy! Work is starting to pick up. I work in soil and water conservation and when the weather gets nice, we get busy. I have meetings every day this week except Thursday. :faint: Tann, that sounds like a good plan! I am ready! The scale hasn't moved in a week but it is my own fault. I haven't been exercising like I should. I have been out of town for pleasure or work (mostly work) everyday for the last 4 days and it will continue on through Sunday. UGH! Because of the uncertainty of meals due to being on the road, I haven't done m/e for about a week. I am going to go back to it Monday of next week when things (hopefully) slow down a bit as far as traveling. I'm gonna have to get my butt in gear if I'm going to make my goal of 299 by Memorial day!

I love chinese food but the doc told me to not eat rice. It swells and if it sits in your pouch too long and you drink something, it can stretch your pouch. Other people eat it and have no problems but since he told me not to, I don't. I miss it but I don't want to take a chance.
-
My doc said to not have it so I gave it up and have never looked back. I was addicted to soda and it wasn't good me for so when I made the commitment to change my life, I decided to do without. I really don't even miss it. Once in a while when dh opens one and I hear the fizz and smell it, I have a slight craving but it goes just as quickly as it comes on. To me, it's not worth it.
-
Great challenge for the weekend Sarg! Dh and I are heading to Kansas City for the weekend so I am certain there will be tons of opportunities to do things I don't normally do. I am looking forward to it! And not to mention the shopping will have an added benefit of walking for hours on end. What a fantastic benefit, get to shop and exercise at the same time! WOOHOO! :laugh
-
Sharon that is awesome!! I am so happy for you! Those scales are a scary thing for sure but they are becoming more and more of a friend as time goes by. I hope when I go see Dr. Pitt next Friday that his is nice to me. I weigh at home and then go to the doctors and it's always about 3 lbs. higher. I know it's because I'm clothed when I'm at his office. I guess I could just strip down and weigh there too. :heh: Hmm....maybe not. Knowing his office setup as you do, you and I both know that would not be a good thing. :nervous

I also experienced this about a month and a half ago but after about a month, it quit. I talked to my doc when I went to see him about it to see if there was something I could do to stop it. I was getting enough protein and water and I was taking my vitamins so I couldn't imagine what I was doing wrong. He said there was absolutely nothing I could do about. He said it really doesn't have anything to do with the protein, it was because of the trama our bodies experienced by having surgery. He said that everyone's body will react differently. Some people's bodies won't even go into the "shock" after it and some will be extreme. He said they see it in all sorts of situations...surgery, car accidents, sudden death in family, etc. Hopefully it will quit soon for you. Edited after reading Angela's post. Isn't it funny how different professionals have different opinions on things. Marni, I would do what Angela says and see what happens. It sure seems better than sitting around waiting for it to stop. Thanks Angela! You are a great blessing to the November bandsters! I am so happy you are here to help us out! Have a wonderful time in Paris!

Welcome to LBT!!! Good luck with your upcoming surgery! Let us know how everything goes! -
At the end of bootcamp, I WILL be under 300! :clap2: That is so exciting to me!!! Thanks for the encouragement everyone! You all are the best! When I look back to where I was in October, it's hard to believe. I know with my fellow bootcampers wonderful support and my determination, I will make it! Isn't it exciting to think about the new life that awaits us! We have all come so far! I am proud of you all!
-
Thanks for the support girls! Avilla, your new outlook is wonderful! It's a hard one, I know that, but maybe if we keep that outlook, we won't stress so much. Yes, I want to lose another 120+ lbs. but I have already come so far. I am thankful for that. I didn't get this way overnight so I can't stress myself about getting it off overnight.

Isn't it funny how our minds work? Before learning about m/e, I was happily losing weight and doing what I knew worked. Now that I have seen the results I can have with m/e, I feel like such a failure when I'm not doing it. Isn't that ironic? I committed myself to doing m/e this entire week and failed. During that TOM, it's difficult for me because for one, I don't see that great of results no matter what I do and two, I need the extra nutrients that veggies provide. Anyway, now I feel quilty for eating "normal". What the heck?!? :omg: I need to quit beating myself up about eating normal the rest of this week and get myself geared up to start m/e on Monday. Quit stressing! Whew! I needed to give myself a pep talk, thanks for listening. :biggrin1:

Hello from South Carolina
niecyrenee replied to Littleman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Littleman! It's nice to have you join us at LBT! For me, being banded was the best decision I have made! It has given me a whole new life. Has it been work, heck yeah. Is it always easy, nope. But it is well worth it! There are a lot of people here and we all have our personal experiences with the band but the majority are going to tell you that they don't regret it. My advice, go into this with all the knowledge you can possibly get. LBT is a wealth of information so read, read, read. Also, expect it to be work. The band is just a tool and you have to be committed to making it work. As far as I'm concerned, most people who are going to take this step to get the weight off, are committed people. Keep a positive but realistic attitude and you will do great! Best of luck to you and keep us posted on how things are going! -
Hello and welcome to LBT!! 100 lb. weight loss is awesome! Congrats!! I'm sorry to hear you had a rough time but you seem to have a very positive outlook. Keep us updated on how the next surgery goes.

losing weight means losing boobs?!
niecyrenee replied to BlueTattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also have experienced the deflating/flating of the boobs. I have lost around but not a cup size. They certainly aren't as full as they once were, but I am still in the same cup size. I started out at 46DD and I am now to 40DD. Slowly but surely decreasing. I would love to be a C cup. If I'm not there by the time I reach my goal weight, I will get them decreased when I get them lifted back up to where they outta be. :heh: -
i'm new hiya everyone.

Hey Sharon! I wouldn't know if you slipped your band or not. I would make an appointment with your doctor. You may have just over ate and having been on liquids, your stomach wasn't used to it. I'm sorry I don't have any info for you. For your peace of mind, call the doc. It's better to err on the side of caution. Good luck! -
Welcome everyone! LBT is a fantastic site full of info and supportive people. There is so much to read and learn. If you can't find something, ask. I would say the main place that people post is the General Discussion section but there are several different sections for specific things. Just look around. Don't worry about posting in the wrong place, people are all over the board and you will get responses. Good luck!
