 Hello everyone! Things have been so crazy going back to work. My desk was piled high; I thought I would never find the bottom!! Thank goodness this morning I have time to get online and see how everyone is doing. I have missed this!! My gas pains have finally all left. Thank goodness! They were the worst part. Overall, feeling great! On the downside, I have been at the same weight all week. I can't get the scale to move no matter what I do.:faint: I am on 3 - 4 oz. meals a day and two small protein shakes a day. Full liquids but I have added in a few mushie things just for some substance. Not doing bad with stomach hunger but head hunger is another thing. I am ignoring it. I don't know what to do to get the scale to move. All I am allowed to do at this point is walk and I have been doing that. Any suggestions? Is anyone else experiencing this? Denise:Cry:

I was banded Wednesday and everything went great!! Everyone at the hospital was wonderful! My surgery didn't take as long as they thought it would and they said that everything went beautifully. Although the pre-op diet was difficult, it is well worth it for how things go during and after surgery. I am having gas pain.:faint: And it is miserable but overall I don't feel too bad. I have only taken one pain pill. I'm walking a lot to get that gas moving. It's time for it to move outta here! Glad to hear things are going well for November bandsters. If your surgery is coming up and you are terrifed, it's completely normal. I was petrified!! I kept thinking about getting up and leaving and trying dieting one more time but I knew deep down, I would fail just like every other attempt. Well, I am going to try to get some sleep. It's the middle of the night here and I woke up with gas pain but I am starting to get sleepy again so I am going to give it a try. Wanted to check in and let everyone know how things were going and to check on everyone. Talk to you all later! Denise

Thank goodness we are back up and running! I have been having withdrawals! I've been checking every little bit to see if it was working yet.

I haven't been able to get into lapband talk since yesterday afternoon, what's been going on? Now that I am on everything from the last day or so is gone. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?

Chris - Thanks! I have been working hard at it. Everytime I think I want to cheat, I think of all the dreams that I would be dashing just to have a bite to eat. It's great motivation! My goal is to lose 20 lbs. by the time of my surgery and I feel confident that I will reach that...and hopefully surpass it!

I started my pre-op diet yesterday. Going well. I have to do it for 10 days and I just keep thinking that's such a long time but it's really not. I'll make it as long as I can quit thinking about food! I have never consumed so many liquids in my life. I'm afraid my zipper will wear out! :heh: I did lose 2.2 lbs. yesterday though!! What does everyone's pre-op diet consist of? I can only have protein shakes, a little skim milk, broth, sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles...oh and water, of course. :spit: Denise

Hello! I am new here and needing some help. My new employer will pay for health insurance but I have to find my own. I am having a difficult time at this. I want to find a company that will pay for Lap Band surgery but am not having much luck. I was told that United Healthcare covers it but when I called to check with them, they told me that they don't. Can anyone recommend a health insurance company to me to try. I live in Missouri. Any recommendations that I can get would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your help!! :grouphug: Niecy

Wonderful news! My husband's insurance company has a lifetime max of $10,000 but the hospital and my surgeon are working with me and think I can get it done for real close to that (given that there are no complications). My husband and I decided that even if it cost us a few thousand dollars that it is WELL worth it. I am getting my appointments taken care of in the next few weeks and they anticipate that my surgery will be the end of September or first of October! I can't wait!!!

I'll check into it. Thanks!

I work for an agency of the state that is funded by tax money, however I am not a state employee. Since the state pays us, they set the guidelines and they no longer offer the option of group plans. There is one other employee and he didn't have a need for specific things so he just went and got some basic plan through BCBS. I am currently on my husband's insurance and they do cover weight loss surgery but they have a lifetime maximum that doesn't meet the costs. Covering the additional cost isn't a option for me right now. :grouphug: This may not be something you can do but do you know if there is a way to "increase" my current benefits by having my employer pay more?

Ok, this insurance thing is all new to me but from what I have read, in Missouri, they don't have to cover weight loss surgery. I am at a loss.

I'll check into those. I was really discouraged when UH told me they don't cover it especially since my surgeon's office told me they do. I'll have to check out the state's website. Thanks so much for your help!! I am determined to get this surgery one way or another! :grouphug:
