    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Happy Saturday to everyone! Did really well yesterday: Got in over 64 oz. of water! :clap2: Doc said it's because I was probably dehydrated from being too tight and not being able to get much in. Did my walking and some house work. Today I will get moving more. I plan to not only do some house work but also to dance and walk. I will get in my Water and small, healthy meals.

What is going on with me?

PB: "productive burp" -- what happens when something eaten can't go down due to restriction has to come back up
  8. I received a 2nd fill last month and right after receiving the fill, I was hardly able to eat and sometimes drink. Almost everything gave me problems. I called my doctor's office and they read off symptoms of being too full and I only had the one, not being able to get much down. They said to watch my portion sizes really closely, take smaller bites and chew really well and if it didn't stop to come see them. It did stop and everything has been fine until this past weekend. It all started again. I haven't been able to eat much, I can eat sometimes but only a couple of bites. I get this horrible pain and it takes forever for it to go away. It's not constant but I always feel like something is stuck in my throat and then every little bit, it hurts horribly. And a few times Water has even done it to me. What is wrong with me? Does it sound like I am infact too full? Don't get me wrong, I love the weight loss but not at the price of being miserable nearly everytime I try to eat. I live over an hour from my surgeon and with the bad weather we are experiencing now, I don't want to chance traveling down there to have him tell me it's my portions. What does everyone think? Edited to add: When I am able to eat, it takes me hours to get a little bit of food down. I eventually get tired of trying and of the pain and just give up. I was however, able to drink 32 oz. of water within that last couple of hours with no problems.

Everything is fixed now so I am ready to get myself in gear!

    November Bandsters!

I guess I didn't word that correctly before. I didn't have much restriction before and therefore asked for a fill. I also think that I had unrealistic expectations. I know that the band is a tool and it takes my dedication to make it work but I had expected it to "help" more. One thing this process has helped me gain is willpower and I would much rather rely on my willpower then get the band too full and not be able to get anything down. Isn't it funny how normal changes. I watch my hubby and others eat and see how big of bites they take and I think "Man! That bite is massive!" However a few months ago I was eating just like them.

    November Bandsters!

Jill-Please don't be scared based on my experience. While it is a trial and error process to get where you need to be, a lot of people never have problems. Just talk to your surgeon and he will recommend what he feels is best. I didn't have the restriction I wanted so I asked for a fill although my weight loss wasn't bad. I now know I didn't need as much of a fill as I received. Your surgeon will do what he feels is best for you but do remember that they also don't know how much liquid you will need in your band, everyone is different. I am sure everything will go fine, let us know how it goes!

What is going on with me?

I am going to see my surgeon this afternoon and I am hoping that it is in fact just too full and not slipped. The nurse told me that it could possibly be either but I really feel like it's just too full. Thanks everyone for your help. I have dealt with this long enough, it's certainly not worth putting up with.

    November Bandsters!

I have a 4 cc band. After my first fill, I was very comfortable, no problems at all except that I know a lot of the time, I was keeping myself from eating, not the band. But since my last fill I have had problems. My surgeon had told me that everyone is different. Some people will never have to have a fill and some will have to have the band full. There is no way to know expect by trial and error. I feel fairly confident that I am just too full and that it's not something else since it all started after my last fill. I have no pain and discomfort except when I try to eat (and once in a while when I drink). For the most part, I haven't been able to eat anything more than a couple tiny bites. There have been a few times that I was able to eat more, probably 1/4 of a cup (estimate) but it has been hard and it took me a couple hours to do so. For the most part however, I have done well with Protein shakes and water. Yesterday for instance, I ate a couple tiny bites of sugar free pudding and then I had pain. I stopped but later in the day I was able to drink a Protein shake. I am hoping that he will remove half of the last fill to leave my band with 1.5 cc. I am not certain what he will do but whatever it is, it has to beat the pain I have been feeling. I have to say though, it certainly is a huge change for me to have no desire whatsoever to put anything in my mouth! I will post an update as soon as possible! Thanks everyone for your concern.

    Surgery and "AUNT FLO"

Charlotte-your worries are completely normal! We have all been where you are and all had our own set of concerns. I too was concerned about Auny Flo and about getting a cold or flu. I didn't want anything to get in the way of getting this surgery. Having never had surgery before, I was worried about everything! As much as I worried about the surgery, I was that much and more excited about it and the possibilities it opened to me. I think most surgeons anticipate a little weight loss before surgery because a lot of them do a pre-op diet. Even if your surgeon doesn't require you to do a pre-op diet, I know they are aware of your desire to lose weight and have to know that even now a person could be trying and therefore might lose a few pounds. The time up until surgery is an excited and scary time and we all know what you are going through. Feel free to ask any questions because that's what we are all here for so lean on us. I look forward to having you join us in Bandland!!

    Surgery and "AUNT FLO"

I never had a catheder. They wanted me up moving as soon after surgery as possible and that included walking to the bathroom. Every doctor must be different about that. Did they tell you that you'd have one?

    Pregnancy

My hormones were out of whack before surgery and therefore, I didn't have a regular period. They put me on some meds to get my hormones straightened out and I have had a normal cycle ever since. My doc told me that LBS can most certainly affect pregnancy, by making it easier. Being overweight can affect all aspects of your health, even your periods. He said after losing weight your body can correct some of those little issues on it's own and getting pregnant could become easier. I for one look forward to being a pregnant bandster!:preggers:

    Taking Meds??

I switched all my meds to either ones that could be crushed or to dissove tabs. I crushed them at first :scared: but quickly learned that they are really disgusting that way and I could barely choke them down so I tried swallowing them whole and haven't had a problem.

    Surgery and "AUNT FLO"

Aunt Flo blessed me by coming a few days before surgery and continued right on through it. They did my surgery no prob. They gave me some funky mesh granny panties and a massive pad that seemed like it would cover the state of Tennessee :heh: but they still did it. I don't think having your period will affect your surgery at all. It's not ideal, but you can definitely deal with it.

    Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Todays results thus far: Breakfast and Lunch: Protein Shake Vitamins taken Working on the water Update! I am heading to see my surgeon tomorrow afternoon. They said it could possibly be 1) band too full, 2) band slippage or 3) food stuck. I have been reading on here and I feel like my band is just too full. It's my understanding that they are going to take the fluid out and then probably an x-ray. I pray that it's just too full. After this little bump in the road is cleared up, I will be back on track and kicking butt at bootcamp! :scared:

    November Bandsters!

I have received a call back from my surgeon and I will be seeing him tomorrow afternoon. They said it is likely that it is either 1) band is too full, 2) band slip or 3) food blockage. I think they will start by removing the fluid in the band and then I will get an x-ray to make sure it hasn't slipped. I personally feel that it's just too full. I have been reading on here about band slips and I don't think that's what I have. I sure hope not! Anyway, I will update you on my results.
