For info on putting a ticker in, check out this thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/get-ticker-your-t16218.html . For the first little while (about 2 weeks or so), I could only sleep in the recliner. It was much to uncomfortable to sleep lying down.

Angela I am so jealous! Paris!! Can I sneak in your suitcase? Please, please! Oh wait! They don't make suitcases big enough. :faint:Ugh! I guess I'll just have to settle for pictures. Post some pics for us to see when you get home!

I use a cardio dance video. I can't think of the actual name of it but I bought it at Wal-Mart and wasn't costly. It gives a good workout!
-
Sarge, we have a weekend challenge! 2-45 min. cardio workouts. Sounds like fun! Whose with Tann and I?
-
7 day Meat and Egg fast? I have never heard of it. You just eat meat and eggs for 7 days?
-
Sounds good to me! What does everyone think? Can we do this?!?
-
Hmm....I'm drawing a blank. Work is frying my brain. (Hence the break to check out LBT!) Taking suggestions! Anyone with something in mind?!? Anyone?
-
Hey Sarge, I think we need a weekend exercise challenge (what, I don't know)! Spring is getting closer and closer and I feel the need for motivation! :whip: What do you think?

Ditto here! Well said!

Some Questions about Sleep After Banding
niecyrenee replied to Fenton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept in the recliner for like 2 weeks after my surgery, if not a little longer. My port is on the right side and I typically sleep on my left side but I wasn't even able to do that. I would try but it wasn't worth it so I ended up in the recliner. The only way to really know is to try it. Good luck! -
For me, I did feel fuller a little faster but nothing compared to after getting fills. I had to exercise a lot of will power during that time! Remember that the first 6 weeks are for healing so anything you lose then are a bonus. Good luck on your upcoming surgery

I have never had any other surgeries so I don't have anything to compare it with but for me, it wasn't bad. I never took a pain pill and never felt I needed one. The gas pain was the only "pain" I exprienced. I work in conservation and I took one week off from work and honestly, I could have went back beforehand. I would think that one week would be fine but everyone is different. If you were fine a week after your c-sections, I think you will fine here too. Good luck! Let us know how everything goes!

feel like i can eat anything please share some insight
niecyrenee replied to justine717's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not Shutuplena but I will give you my 2 cents. Every surgeon is different but mine says to do liquids the day of a fill and after that to ease back into your normal diet. He has told me that I will know if I need to continue liquids for longer. Usually I just do them for that day and I'm fine. I don't think a few chips and salsa would hurt but I would use caution. If you decide to try it I would recommend that you go slow and see how you do and if you start to feel pain, stop! Hope your girls weekend is great! -
Good luck and as soon after surgery as you feel up to it, let us know how you are doing!

My doc says to not drink for 1 hour after eating. It seems to work well for me....

after hitting goal...
niecyrenee replied to DerickM's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have given this question a lot of thought. I do like that it is reversible but I don't think I want to be without it. I don't ever want to go back to where I was!! A lot of people asked me initally if it would be removed when I got to my goal and I asked my surgeon about it and he said that he could remove it if that's what I want but he encourages people to remove all the liquid from it first and see how that goes. If you remove it, you don't have to worry about slippages or erosion but if you keep it, it will be there if you need it. I'm interested to see what others feel. -
I remembered this topic being discussed before so I went and found the thread. Check out http://www.lapbandtalk.com/do-you-have-t28883.html . It answers a lot of these questions.

Suspicious ... or well-informed?
niecyrenee replied to laralynn86's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lara I do the same thing! It has surprised me how much it has crossed my mind. And if I see them out at a restaurant, I will try to "watch" what they are eating, what they are drinking, how they are acting to try to find out. It's weird! My dh has to remind me to not stare. I have fought my weight too long and seen way to many people do the same to believe that everyone else I know can lose the weight with "just self-will" and not with the help of WLS. I believe that there are a lot more people who have had it and not told anyone then we know about. -
NSV...non scale victory. Way to go Sunta! Sometimes the smallest things can really make you feel great!! Hope everything turns out ok.

I am from the Kirksville area and I do believe I set right next to you! How ironic! I am ready for the nice weather to be here for good so I can come more often to the meetings. I had an appt. with Dr. Pitt last Friday and all was well until I decided to head home about 4:45ish and ran into a bad snow storm and had to drive 35-50 mph the whole way home! Sounds like your getting your pre-op things over with. Those last few hoops to jump through. I had to retake my EKG because the hospital lost mine. Thankfully they only charged me for one. The closer and closer surgery came, the more nervous I got. In fact, the morning of surgery, I was ready to leap off the table while they were getting me ready and run out. I don't even remember the ride in the bed from the pre-op room to the surgery room; I just remember arriving there. I was petrified! The last thing I remember before being put out was that I was going to die. Then when I woke up, I was getting ready to tell them I had changed my mind but then realized it was all over. I am happy now but that morning, I thought I was nuts! Are you planning to take some time off work after surgery? I could have went back sooner than I did but everyone said to take a week. I'm glad I did because I was still needing an afternoon nap those last few days. Some days I would still go for one if I could. Hopefully you will get good news about your EKG today!

Keeping it secret - what excuse did you use at work?
niecyrenee replied to TerriDoodle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, a lot of people know about my surgery but I choose to not share it with my co-workers. I feel certain that they will find out eventually but I didn't want to discuss it originally so I didn't. I just told them I was having a minor surgery. They didn't ask and I didn't tell. People just assumed because I was a woman and I was having surgery and not talking about it that it must be female related. I never confirmed or denied their assumptions. I let them believe what they wanted. When people started asking me how I am losing weight, I just told them that I was making some major life changes such as starting to eat right and exercise. I am still telling them the truth without having to disclose all the details. No one has right out asked me if I have had it so if that happens, I'll probably fess up. -
First off, congratulations and welcome to LBT!! I by no means am an expert but I will share some little tidbits of info that I have learned: 1) Don't rush yourself into eating real food again. Stick to the liquids and then the mushies like advised. It seems impossible but once you cheat, it's hard to stop. 2) Don't get discouraged if you don't lose in the first 6 weeks, they are for healing and the weight loss will start soon. 3) WALK, WALK, WALK! 4) When you cheat, don't beat yourself up too bad. We all do it and we just have to get ourselves going again. That is all that is coming to me right now. It is probably things you have already heard but it's always nice to have a reminder now and again. Good luck! If you have any questions, just ask, we are all in this together!

Congratulations on your surgery date! There are lots of wonderful people here and we are glad to have you join us! Good luck!!!

Anyone else ever broken a scale by stepping on it?
niecyrenee replied to kyethra's topic in The Lounge
