Incision treatments
niecyrenee replied to Sophie248's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had glue on mine, just some sort of tape like stuff. I didn't use anything on mine until the strips fell off. Now I use Vitamin E on them to help reduce the appearance of scars. That's all I've ever used. -

I have never thought of myself as a role model but thank you. :embarassed: So far I have not had any saggy skin but I feel it will happen. When I went in for my last fill my doc said to start saving my money to have the skin removed. He said more than likely I will have some. My physical therapist told me to drink a lot of water and do toning exercises to help with it and so far it must be working. :biggrin1: I am planning to have whatever surgery needed to make me look fantastic. I am not going through this to not look great! :heh: (Vain, I know.) As you can see from my ticker, I am hoping to be a big loser too! -
M/E is short for meat & egg fast. What it consists of is eating nothing but lean meats and eggs for a period of 3, 5 or 7 days. A fellow bootcamper of mine told us about it. It's how her doctor had told her to eat. People have had some amazing results with it. Check out the Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp thread to learn more.

I have been very blessed with my weight loss. It has been a total shock to me since I have never been able to loss weight in my life! I told my hubby when we decided to do this that if I was going to do something this drastic, I was going to make it work. I have been working really hard and have seen wonderful results! It's not always easy, but always worth it! -
time spent in hospital,on what?
niecyrenee replied to maziemommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I arrived at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. the day of surgery and I went into surgery around 11:00 a.m. Surgery only took 45 mins. and I was in post-op in no time. They released me from the hospital around 5:00 p.m. I really wasn't there long at all, but everyone is different. If I ever had a bladder tube or nose tube, they inserted them after I was out and removed them before I woke up. To my knowledge, I never had either. -
Good luck Keith! What an exciting day for you!! Nerves are normal but I am sure you will do great. I look forward to hearing how you are doing!

Every surgeon's preop diet is different. My doc required two weeks of nothing but protein shakes, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, broth and water. As far as weight loss before surgery, he didn't require that I lose any. The purpose of the preop diet was to shrink the liver size which means the difference between open surgery and laparoscopic. I do feel that the preop diet prepared me well for what to expect. I was getting used to eating basically nothing with my normal sized stomach so when I got my smaller stomach, it didn't seem bad at all. Hope this helps.

I did m/e for 6 days, ending Sunday. I did really well at first but then Sunday when I got on the scale, I was up 2 lbs. (I try not to but I weigh everyday...I'm hopeless.:faint:) Since then it has continued to go up. I am up 5 lbs. now. I just don't get it! The m of m is working now. In fact I was awaken at 3:00 a.m. and have been up ever since. I figured when I got on the scale this morning it would be down. Nope, not budged! I am not going to allow myself to get discouraged though. It's just a bump in the road. I work with the youth at my church and they are doing a 30 hour famine starting at noon today and running through 6:00 p.m. on Friday. I figured I would eat a small breakfast and early lunch. Surely with only water and a protein shake for supper and all day tomorrow, I will see some move in the scale. I hope so anyway. I plan to begin m/e on Saturday. I really think the scale went up because of no bm. I think that if I continue to take my benefiber everyday, I will do much better. Which reminds me, can you drink oj on the m/e? They say benefiber is tasteless but it sure does make water taste yucky. I don't notice it in oj and probably wouldn't other things either. Is oj good or is there something that would be better? Overall, I am down lower than when I started m/e so I am happy. It did work! And I will continue to do it! We are going on vacation the first week of July and I would really love to be able to wear shorts and actually look nice! I guess only time will tell. :nervous

Sorry I haven't been around the last several days. Work has been insane!! Update: I am currently off the m/e for a few days. I did really well at first with it but the last two days weren't so good. I wasn't taking a fiber supplement and learned the hard way what it's like to not have a bm regularly. :cry I have been taking fiber and have taken some milk of magnesia and have had some results (thank goodness!) Over the course of days (since the third to the last day of m/e) I have gained but I do think it's because of no bm. I am eating normal right now and trying to get that under control and I hope to start back on m/e either this weekend or the beginning of next week. I hope to not have this problem and to get going in the right direction soon!

That is hilarious!

Kim, that is beautiful! Your daughter sounds like a very loving and caring individual. You are truly blessed!

We have already decided where we are going on vacation and there are several airlines to choose from. I, not being an experienced flyer, just wanted to hear what everyone had to say and that would help us better choose a flight.

I am doing fantastic! I love it! I am down 7 lbs. since starting it!!! I thought this morning about taking the weekend off from it but after getting on the scale, I changed my mind. The work luncheon went well. There was some pork in the pan that didn't have hardly any bbq sauce on it so I ate that and it was good! There was a yummy looking chocolate dessert and then ice cream cake back at the office but I resisted temptation! It didn't even look as good as I expected it to. Tann, thank you so, so much for telling us about m/e! It is awesome!

I knew that I was going to have to give soda up so I did last summer and have never looked back. I drank way too much soda so once in a while I have a craving but I ignore it and it goes away fast. At this point if I did try it, I'm not certain it would have the same appeal anymore. My advice, stay away from soda. It can cause too many problems.

Welcome to LBT! Good luck with everything and if you have questions, ask away.
