My doctor's office originally gave me instructions to do 1 week clear liquid, 3 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks mushies then to transition to solid food. At my 1 week post op appt. the doctor told me to do 10 days full liquid then 10 days mushies which cut about 2 weeks off the post op diet for me. Since they originally drilled it into me that if I ate before 6 weeks, I may cause damage, I'm somewhat nervous to start solid food now. My question is: When you all went to solids...did you go right into solid food the first day you could or did you slowly introduce different solids each day?

Transitioning to Solid Food

Thanks everyone for the advice! -
Hi everyone! I was banded on 5/21/09 and I'll be starting solid food next week. I've been reading a lot about how many people cannot tolerate bread, chicken, steak, etc. I was wondering if there's any people out there who have had the band for a while and don't have any problems with those foods???

How soon is too soon for real food?
PalmTrees replied to September75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad I found this thread. All the paperwork from my doctor's office stated that I would be on clear liquid for 1 week, full liquids for 3 weeks, mushies/puree for 2 weeks and then start solid food. I was banded on May 21 and at my 1 week post op appt, the doctor who saw me (not who banded me) told me to do full liquids for 10 days then mushies for another 10 days. At first I was happy but now I'm just confused because I feel like why did you write all this stuff about the stomach healing properly and then advance me early. I almost feel like I'm doing something wrong. Not to mention, all the paperwork said I should be evaluated by the dr before I advance to the next stage but she told me to set up my next appt for 5 weeks....I just don't get it... -
Hi all, my surgery is in less than 2 weeks and my doctor gave me the option to decide between the lap band and the realize band. I'm really stuck between the two. Any advice based on experience? Also, I feel like the lap band's port looked like it would stick out more, which I have read on some of the other boards...It seems like the realize band is flatter which does make me lean more towards realize...so for the realize banders- do you feel/see your port right away sticking out? How about after you've lost the majority of your weight? Thanks in advance...

Thanks...have you noticed any differences in your realize band compared with your husband's lap band like the way food goes down, getting stuck, etc? I ask because I'm trying to decide between the two and I wonder if I'm overthinking this because they may just be so similar....

Anyone switch insurance companies after the band???
PalmTrees posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all. I am scheduled for lap band surgery on May 21st. I have Aetna and it is covered by insurance. Apparently fills aren't but the dr's office said they have ways of getting around that. My question is- I'm looking for a new job this summer and I'm concerned about getting new health coverage and not be covered in case of a band slip, revision, complications or future fills. Any advice? Thanks in advance...
