Hi. I'm a concerned son of a band patient. My father had the procedure done about four years ago. He's lost weight, and his health seemed fine (er.. no major issues except for the normal, 'healthy', stresses of life until he began thinking he had the flu. It ended up being a perforated colon which required surgery.
I am not looking for medical advice on what caused it as obviously something that didnt get digested tore a bleeping* hole in his colon.
What should his diet be consisting of-- ie, "lower fiber" then gradually incrementing to "high fiber". Also will this effect his ability to absorb essential nutrients such as omegas, antiox's, and Proteins through his digestive tract? If so, how do we go about getting him eating and drinking the essentials as soon as possible?
