I have always had that problem because all my favorite veggies are the ones that are gassy. When I do kind of walk and toot, I just say "Those damn ducks follow me every where I go!"

Good luck everyone! Going through the month with everyone has been so great, hearing everyone get though this well is making me so much less nervous, scared, and I am excited to go forward with this...

How will I keep my secret in this situation?
diane5467 replied to sweetsue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If the food is homemade, you have control over the portions you put on your plate. Just tell the truth, you are trying to eat smaller portions. -
I have ten days to go, starting preop liquid diet tomorrow. Please tell us how everything went for you! Hopefully you are already banded and resting comfortably. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello, I just bought some Isopure from GNC. There are also several types of Protein drinks or unflavored protein you can add to your food. From this site, you can really learn from everyone. I learned recently about unjury which is a protein product they have unflavored and you can add it to Soups, jellos, puddings, and make different drinks. I posted recipes from their site yesterday. Here are a couple sites I have ordered great bariatric products from: http://www.unjury.com/index.shtml http://dietdirect.com/ They both have very inexpensive shipping and you get your orders in just a couple days. I am 12 days to banding and have go on 10 days liquid Monday. I stocked up on lots of different items so I don't feel deprived and fall off the wagon. Hope this helps!

Unflavored Protein Powder, Do You Or Don't You?
diane5467 replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just on the unjury.com site and they have a bunch of recipes I think would be great for the liquid stage as well as some variety adding the Protein to your diet. Only $5 to ship any size order and pretty reasonable. Sorry for the long post, but here are some recipes they have. Here is our list of recipes. We hope you'll agree they are easy and delicious ways to get your protein - in a variety of ways!! Let us know what you think of the ones you try! 1. Hi-Pro Jell-O Use sugar free Jell-O Follow directions for preparation of a 4 oz/4 servings box of Sugar Free Jell-O, any flavor Follow package directions for dissolving Jell-O in boiling Water. Measure 1/2 cup of cold water. Add two scoops of Unflavored UNJURY to cold water, one scoop at a time, stirring slowing to dissolve. Add ice to water with UNJURY to equal one cup. Stir UNJURY with ice into dissolved Jell-O until ice has melted Place in freezer for at least 30 minutes to chill quickly. Important Comments: -- The protein will settle somewhat toward the bottom, but the taste is unchanged. -- If you like this recipe with UNJURY Unflavored ("UU"), you might also like it substituting the vanilla UNJURY for UU. -- 1 cup Jell-O as prepared has 20 grams of protein 2. Souped-Up Soups Lipton Cup-of-Soup Tomato or Cream of chicken Empty dry soup mix in Bowl/Cup Add 1 scoop UNJURY Unflavored - UU Blend UU into dry soup mix using a fork until thoroughly blended Add hot water as package directs, mixing as you add the water. Protein: 22 grams per 6 ounce Cup-of-Soup Revised Campbell's Condensed Can Soups Empty Soup from can into microwaveable container Measure water as directed on the label (one can of water) Mix one scoop of UNJURY Unflavored - UU Add water to condensed soup Microwave to heat, but do not heat to boiling, just to medium hot Stir and enjoy Protein: 10 grams per half-cup serving 3. Hi-Pro Yogurt For Plain Yogurt use Vanilla UNJURY. For Fruit-Flavored Yogurt you can use Unflavored UNJURY or Vanilla UNJURY. Put about half of a 6 ounce container, or all of a 4 ounce container, in a small bowl. The first time you try this recipe, mix in 1/4 or 1/3 scoop UNJURY. Stir until well blended. If this works well, the second time you might experiment with 1/2 scoop. 4. Diet V-8 Splash Pour 6-8 ounces of Diet V-8 Splash in a large glass Mix one scoop of UU in the Diet V-8 Splash until blended Enjoy Protein: 20 grams 5. I Can't Believe It's Hi-Protein pudding Use Jell-O Sugar Free Instant Pudding (Not Cooked) 1 oz/4 servings Measure 2 cups of cold fat free milk following package directions Add two scoops of Unflavored UNJURY to the two cups of cold milk If this works well and you want more protein per serving try 3-4 scoops Mix thoroughly the dry UNJURY in the milk by shaking or stirring Then follow pudding package directions by putting the Jell-O Sugar Free Instant (Not Cooked) Dry Pudding Mix Into a bowl. Pour in the previously-mixed UNJURY-plus-milk. Mix and Chill and Enjoy! Protein: Each 1/2 cup serving has 14 grams 6. I am having my surgery at the Wish Center here in Illinois two weeks from today. I have 4 days left to get my favorites in (while learning to not drink while eating, push proteins, and get all my water i) and then I have 10 days on a liquid diet. The day prior is clear liquids. His explanation is shrinking the liver, giving more room to move things over. I want to have as few complications as possible, but it is ging to be so hard to go 1 day without solids, much less 10. I have already warned my kids to tell me I am thin and beautiful before they speak to me... -
Maybe flavored Water like Propel? I just bought a whole bunch of stuff from Dietdirect.com, they have Protein enhanced soups, different Protein drinks, Protein Bars and bariatric Vitamins... Good luck! diane5467

Hi Jean, We have both struggled with our weight our whole lives and have been together struggling for the last eight. We are getting older, enjoying life less and less because we are always tired and in some kind of pain. We decided to go to a seminar and took a few months to take yet another shot at dieting before making the decision that it is just so much easier to exercise if we were not carrying another person's weight on our backs everywhere we go. We are both more than 150# overweight. It is great, because we are there to support each other and right now he is out getting me Chinese for one last time. I just hope I can not be a big sissy and scare him out of joining me in bandland. We are self payers, so he is going to do it probably in the Winter when I am all better. I am really more scared of the pre-op diet than the post op one. I don't know how I will last 1 day on liquids much less 10. I am not fat because I have all this will power... Keep us posted on your progress! Diane

Hello, I am having my surgery at Provena Mercy in Aurora (Wish Center), is that the "Mercy" hospital you are asking about?
-
I am with you! I am the 22nd and we have been celebrating the 12 days of Fatness at my house. I am getting in all my "last's" before my liquid diet (which is the part of this I am most afraid of) I didn't get fat because of my determination and will power... So we are all counting the days now....

Just a thought, maybe instead of banning individuals, something could be set up for people to just block individual users? -
I am shocked, just read that and ran to tell my hubby. It said that it is very rare for a stingray to cause a death, but it put a hole in his heart as well as his lung... Wow, such a great loss.

That's too funny- we are all pogo addicts in my family. My screen name is charmed42321, I mostly play canasta or the different card games...

Hello all, My Dr said the problem with soda is that the carbonation expands the pouch, also, caffeine stimulates your appetite.
-
Yep, meant 9-22, and I am supposed to be getting on the program, but with 10 days of eating left I am afraid I have an eating agenda until I go on liquids...

I just got my date and I will be an official September bandster! My preop appt is this Thursday and my surgery date is 9-22-06 Wooooohooooooo! Finally!

I am not yet banded, hopefully in September. On the pre-op diet I am supposed to boost Protein, so we are having a cold shrimp dish tonight. Here goes: (Italians are not real big on recipes, but I will do my best) uncooked shrinp w/tails on (cook them until they are pink) fresh broccoli 2-3 lemons about 1 cup thinly sliced celery small can sliced black olives olive oil salt & pepper, garlic powder to taste (optional) pretty much put all the ingredients in a bowl, dress with lemon, olive oil, & seasonings and chill. Easy to go down, lots of protein and Vitamins. Mmmmmmmmmm :hungry: diane5467

I am in a similar situation. I simply say that I would rather see the clothes go to someone less fortunate. Besides, it is so much fun shopping for NEW clothes in smaller sizes. I have also asked my friend to please stop cleaning her closets into my house. I have my own baggy clothes to pass on...

Hello, I hope you don't get discouraged to share your stories because of one person. The rest of us waiting to get banded really need to hear your success stories to help us realize the possibilities. Sometimes there are down sides to success and we want to hear those as well. Keep us posted! Thanks for showing us the light at the end of the tunnel is not always a train! Diane5467

Hello all, I hope to be in this club soon. All I have left is my psche evaluation on 8-30. I have my pre-op appointment on 8-31. Not too sure what happens at this appointment since I have all my other stuff done. They say I will get my date on this day, but is this also when I start on liquids? That is going to truly be the biggest challenge for me ever. Just a few questions I have from those who might know. How long until you were able to get back to work? How did you get through the liquid diet? Does lettuce and watermelon count, mostly Water, right? Any advice would be appreciated... Thanks! diane5467

Hello, I suffer with herniated disks myself, and with chiropractic help, they do go away naturally. It takes several appointments a week to realign the spine so that the disk is enabled to heal. Lots of ice, and sleeping with a pillow between my legs really helped...they sometimes recur, but my advice is to have her stick with natural healing. I am hoping getting the weight off is going to be the solution. Just my 2 cents, Diane in Chicago

Does Lap-Band help with emotional eating?
diane5467 replied to SarahinTyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello SarahinTyler, My husband and I are still in the preparation stages, but I am hoping that once I lose some of the weight, I will have more energy to get off the couch and do something. For me, I am always tired so I sit around and watch TV, read, surf the web. I am hoping the band makes it so I feel satisfied and think of other things besides what the next thing I am going to eat is gonna be... Good luck! Diane in Chicago
