I married my highschool sweetheart in a size 9/10 wedding dress right after I graduated at 127 pounds, 5' 6" tall.  My weight was not a concern at all. I started struglling with my weight at about age 19 when I started trying to get pregnant.  Found out I had PCOS at that time also. 5 years and many pounds later, thanks to a wonderful infertility specialist and modern miracles, I had a beautiful baby girl!  I continued to gain weight despite my many efforts to loose it for the next 16 years.  I peaked at 297 pounds!  When my mother had a stroke at age 53 from sleep apnea, I went to a pulmonary specialist and was tested with positive results...I too had sleep apnea.  This doctor told me that if I lost weight, I may be able to overcome the sleep apnea and many other health issues that had krept up on me over the last few years. He refered me to a Dr. Michael Snyder.  My husband and I met with Dr Snyder and was incredibly impressed with his program, so much support before and after surgery!  You could tell he genuinely cared about the success of his patients!  I worried about having the surgery for about a year and a half, then decided that it was what I needed to do.  I wish that I would've had this surgery years ago!   I haven't felt this good in so long!  I have been able to stop 7 different medications and have been told I'll probably be off my PCOS meds in the next couple of months!  I've lost 100 pounds in 8 months...in no time, my daughter and I will be sharing clothes!  This surgery has been such a blessing!  My wonderful husband of 23 years and my daughter, now 16, are both very supportive, always telling me how proud of me they are.  I would definately recommend this surgery to anyone that struggles with their weight, it's a life saver for sure!  I look forward to being around to enjoy my grandchildren and watch them grow up and have families of their own!
