  1. wow!!! haha to your cheating ex...YOU look great! Congrats on the success of looking beautiful AND loving yourself during this time  How long did it take you to lose the 131 pounds? How is maintance, do you find it difficult to maintain? I am 9 months today and down 77 pounds....25 to go and hoping it won't take too long. I got "comfortable" but am really working it these days. You have further motivated me, thanks!!

  2. Hi. I am down 61 pounds since June 12th (actually including two week preop). This past month I did not lose an ounce but I did not gain the ten I would have historically  so its a win. I am ready to get busy again being totally serious and getting this icky weight gone for good. It is wonderful to see so much success on this board and very inspiring :( I started at 247 and weighed in today (after grazing :)) at 186.5. Happy New Year everyone and keep up the good work!:)

  3. I was banded June 12th and am down 49 pounds INCLUDING two week preop diet. I have fifty to go. I feel like it is a slow process but looking back now it seems like it went kinda quick! I weighed in this morning at 199.5!! I was very happy (isnt that gross) but I have been working REALLY hard at this. I eat about 1200 calories a day and work out for an hour almost every day. I do have occasional "treats" like a small soft serve vanilla ice cream cone from DQ which is like heaven  I think that the changes are so much more managable then anything I have ever done. This band keeps me from being obsessive about my eating and I rarely feel hungry. I am so much more in control and one the occasion that I am not, the band keeps me from "over doing" it. I tend to lean towards instant gratification but I remind myself slow and steady wins the race. Keep at it everyone, keep up the fight :Banane20::blushing:

  4. I too was banded on June 12th and am down just under thirty pounds since June 1st. I think that most of that came right after my surgery and then this past ten days when I finally had the aha moment...Calories count! The band will keep me satiated but I can NOT eat the foods I did before and expect to lose weight. I also must exercise. I have started a journal and I am taking in about 1100-1300 calories a day and walking 2-3 miles a day for the last ten days and getting excellent results again! I am also not hungry which is an enormous improvement for me! I don't think I am yet at my sweet spot but getting close. And to the gal that started this thread, the results you report are amazing if you haven't beeen "trying really hard or exercising" as your note suggests. Even being one of the slower losers here, I am still about 2.5 pounds a week with the learning curve! I am excited because I feel like I am on to something finally :) Good luck to you all and keep up the good work. It would be super easy to eat the same dinner as everyone else or have just a bite of cake or a half of a muffin etc....BUT....I am choosing to make changes and since I did, its working!! yippppppppppeeeeeeee

  5. I think some of the more casual rude remarks are hard to take as well such as "Have you lost any weight yet"

or "Is that thing even working" after losing 25 pounds and people can't notice , that is discouraging too! I can't imagine asking such a loser question to someone I knew was struggling with their weight and going on this journey...how unsupportive! One of the ladies was even fat herself! ughhhhh...but I think, we are just a nicer, more sensitive group of people and this is clearly not our issue to fix.

  6. Suzette- I am thinking like you but lets hang in there until we get real restriction. I am only down about 20 pounds and at a stand still PLUS....this weekend, I have developed some serious lower bowel gas pain. Yesterday I was convinced I slipped my band....maybe I did is what I am thinking today but I hope not. My stomach doesnt hurt but I was bloated and had so much lower bowel gas that it hurt to touch my abdomen or even drive over bumps :wink2: I broke out a heating pad, took a hot bath and I have been doing mushies today/soup. It is starting to settle down....I kept thinking, what have I done to myself? BUT, in my heart...I just know, when TRUE restriction presents and this cramping subsides....I will be truly happy I did this! I am going for my second fill tomorrow BTW (bearing that my tummy aches subside ).

    Good luck......

    Jill

  7. ok, I am totally depressed! I am going for my first fill Monday and PRAYING it does the trick. I am only down about 16 pounds since two weeks BEFORE surgery! I keep gaining and losing 4 pounds  I am soooooo bummed and feel like I have failed. People at work say things like...wow I can see your losing (just being nice) or "have you lost any weight yet"? Can you imagine saying that to someone...kinda rude right? Anyway....I am finishing band hell and hope and pray that what comes will keep me from eating too much. I can eat anything and in good amounts. Not quite the same as before surgery but pretty darn close  How will I know if this is gonna work? I know I have not been really committed about limiting my calories and such but I have made a lot of changes...I have given up soda (I was the queen!), I am not eating any sweets/desserts, eating protien first and having my shakes/bars but I am just eating too damn much and am sooooooooooooooo mad at myself  Anyone else out there feeling like me?

  8. Bella! That is wonderful! I had Dr. K too. Could you tell me, did you experience band hell? When did you start losing the most? He did my surgery about 3 weeks ago, I am waiting for a fill in 9 days and can NOT wait!!! Could you please tell me what your experience was with regards to this? Also, where does he put our ports, I cant find mine??? Thanks sooooo much and congrats, you look wonderful :tongue2:

  9. Reading this post has given me another question to ponder! Why are us nurses FAT? We should be the thin ones working like we do....well I realize some of you have reached thinness and congrats ! But isnt it amazing that we care for everyone beforee ourselves?? I am so glad we have done this for ourselves!

  10. I am in band hell my friends....

I had my surgery June 12th. Started two week preop diet, lost 7 pounds. Post op, lost ten more....recently gained back four. I feel like I have NO restriction. I get hungry, REALLY hungry and want to eat evberything in site. I feel like I am failing!

I am going to the grocery store tonight and loading up on shakes. I think starting tomorrow I will do two shakes during the day and another after a 1 cup dinner. I havent been measuring but I know I am having way more then that and I honbestly could keep going but I dont! Anyway...I am happy for you that are losing but I am wondering what is wrong with me???? I hope the first fill helps! Oh, and yes I realize I have major head hunger too...I will always think like a fat girl I am sure! I started at 247 and today am 235, I had been 231 and felt more in control! I am five foot six btw. Good luck all.

  11. Hi guys...

I had my surgery with Dr. K (A Gem)....can I ask a question?.... I had it on 6/12. Have not lost much weight at all but am staying focused on "Healing" not losing (although I feel I have NO restriction either....It is hard NOT to eat too much! My fill is not until July 13th and they said no sooner  My question is...does Dr. K fill the band at all when he puts it in? I thought I remembered him saying he does "a little"...what might that "little" be? Thanks and please feel free to tell me that my disgusting appetite will magically disappear once this band is tightened! I feel so weak and lame at present.

    Thanks!

    Jill

  12. You look fabulous!! What a great motivator for me  Thank You! Ok...so since you have success...what is the best advice you can give someone in band hell?? I am post op about 2.5 weeks. I started preop at 247 and am now 235 (ugh)!! I am five foot six and cant wait to be at least 90 pounds lighter! Can you share your wisdom??

    Thanks!!

    Jill

  13. I was banded on June 12th by Dr. K in Aurora Co (He did a great job, all went well). I am about 2.5 weeks post op, can eat anything I want and have no restrction. I am TRYING to be good...eating three times a day and having shakes (protien, not milk :). I have only lost about 15pounds since two weeks before surgery :( I can eat everything the same as before. I am trying to have modest portions but am afraid 1. I am stretching my pouch 2. I am not losing weight 3. I am a failure? My first fill is scheduled for July 13th and they said NO sooner!!!! What can I do? Should I go back to just liquid or mushies? ugh......any input is greatly appreciated! I am so discouraged because I keep reading "I lost thirty pounds since surgery" or "I have no appetite and can only eat 500 cals a day"...I am eating a lot more then that and am no longer losing :(:smile2::sad::mad2::thumbup::lol::frown::smile2::eek::w00t:

  14. Hi There. I had bmi of 40 and also have afib(tendency towards being out of sinus rythem. I am on beta blocker and had put a lot of weight on due to the beta blocker and afib making me tired (PLUS eating too much). I am also a registered :thumbup:nurse. I went with lap band surgery last week. This past week I have not felt one bit of flutter! I am also already down 10 pounds since surgery and 8 before! I cant say that it is right for you because of this, but so far I am feeling statisfactory results  Good luck! Jill

  15. oh what a bummer! I just got banded by Dr. K this past Friday. He did a great job, what a nice man. He found an ungly mole on me and told my husband while I was in recovery to be sure I got it checked. Seriously, a thourough and effecient man. I recommend him :bored: Good luck, better safe then sorry!
