Yes, I am a Hospice RN and was very worried I would die on the table OR they would open me up and say "oh, Cancer everywhere, sorry..." I am laughing while I type this because I know how far out there that worry was but I had it :tongue_smilie: I think worry is natural. I did pray to God to help and he did....I gave up on the worry before the moment of surgery and came through with flying colors....No near death Just a chubby gal who is sore and still hurting on the left with deep breathing...nothing more, nothing less! Glad to know someone else had this! I keep reading, "it didnt hurt at all" or "I wouldnt have believed it was in except I had a scar".....I am also day 3, june 12th. I believe my surgeon did an excellent job but I was really sore! Today I did manage to get out of the bed on my own and actually can tell I am starting to feel better. Holy crap, I thought it hurt and I am not a baby! I have had lots of surgeries over the years and this was on my radar as kinda painful! I also have been getting chilled very easy and I am always the hot girl in the room (fat ones usually are) and I have this weird pain under my left rib cage that goes away when I put my arms over my head! oh well...its here and behind us now so a new tool to help us reach our goals! I got to the surgery center at 11 am, changed into my "fat girl" gown and took a pregnancy test (which made me laugh). I got my heparin, my ekg and my presurgery antinausea meds. Next I recieved an IV and was given the opportunity to visit with my husbnad while waiting for the doctor. I also visited with the surgical nurse and the anasteisiolgist (sp?). As soon as they took me into the OR, I remember nothing else but waking up in post op. I was surprised by the pain and my body temp had dropped to 97 and i was trembling and my teeth were chattering. I had excellent care in post op and I was given pain meds and a heated blanket. They brought me right out to the car and my husband was a dear and was waiting to pick me up. All in al, the surgery went without a hitch, my surgeon was great. I have to say though that it is more uncomfortable then I expected and I am not a wimp. I am a belly sleeper and was miserable last night....gas, swelling and pain kept me from getting comfortable. Today I feel like I did about 600 crunches and I am stiff and the gas is making it hard to take deep breathes without pain. I just broke down and took my liquid hydrocodone and I think it is helping. All for now....going to lay down, or sit on the sofa, whichever is more comfy. I have been walking and taking sips and am surprised I dont feel starved but i dont yipppppppppppeeeee

oh at 3 pm today it will be 24 hours for me. The surgery went well but all I can think today to write is "ouch". I have had many surgeries and I am bummed I am in pain. I hate to take pain meds but just broke down to do it I think it is the gas really and the port site :drool: I am no wimp either but this is uncomfortable. "Ouch" is the word of the day.....any encoraging words, when does this pass???

I am getting banded tomorrow too and am excited but sooooooooooo scared too :thumbdown: I am afraid that my ekg wont pass (I have hx of afib), and they will cancel....afraid that I will pass the ekg and they will do it and ill die on the table and then super excited thinking I am probably being dramatic and will take it all smoothely! I am driving my husband crazy :laugh: But....once its done, I know I will embrace the tool and what I can do with it Let me know how you do and I will do the same. Jill

If you dont hear back from me, then I died on the table and you will know to cancel :smile: just kidding (sort of) but am excited and as the other poster suggested, a bit tense at times as well! What are you doing for preop? Also, have you spoken with their nutritionalist at all? Lastly, are you cool with no pre op tests? I guess I am, it just seems weird to me but it is a rather common surgery for him. I know if I was riddled with comorbidities that he would likely wanmt something else done. What are your thoughts and lets stay in touch! I want to lose 110 pounds :mad2:

Hi. I had abdominal surgery about 14 years ago and they put mesh over my abdominal wall for hernia preventitive. Can the surgeon puncture this to get my band in? It just dawned on me tonight. I have surgery scheduled for June 12th and my consult on Friday. Suddenly I feel terrified!!!! What is the criteria they would use if they had to "open you up", I don't want that!!!! Any advice, where others scared? I am also afraid they will go in and find something else and say they had to close me up...am I turning physco? I would feel reassured to know others felt this way :crying: What were you all afraid of? Thanks! Jill
