    Omega 3 and other EFAs

I have no problem taking these pills, even though I have good restriction...go figure. Anywho if I weren't able to swallow the big ones, I'd also try to see if there were gummies available. I also know a few people who take "shots" of the oil once a day to get it out of the way.
  2. This is definitely a personal decision. Try to find out how big the incision will be. One of the docs I looked into offered SILS, but they said it would be about a 4 inch scar above my bellt button. However, one member of this site showed me their SILS scar and it was a normal laproscopic scar size right at the tip of the belly button and you literally couldn't notice it. I will say though, that the SILS does require more manipulation because they are only working with one incision versus 5.
  3. I would have been alright, but like the other poster mentioned it is all individual. I have had over half dozen other surgeries before this, so it was nothing new. Whereas a friend of mine, this was her first surgery and she thought it was the end of the world. So you need to think about how easily you recover if you've had surgery in the past, or what your general level of pain tolerance is. Another thing to consider is your doctors post-op diet. When I was on liquids only, I had such a low level of energy because I wasn't getting in many calories. My doctor would allow soft foods by the time you'd be going to your wedding, so check with your doctor and see what he thinks about everything. Overall though I think you will be fine. To play it safe you could chose Nov 3 - I know it seems like such a long time out, but really it's not.

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

Amazingly I woke up this morning and the scale said 198.6....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't seen anything under 200 since puberty, this is so ridiculously amazing to me and is just the boost that I needed to step up my exercising. I can't believe I'm in ONEderland!!

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

I was 201 last week and am actually at 200.6 which is amazing considering I was in NYC from Thursday until Monday and ate crappy food pretty much the whole time. But I watched my portions and did lots of walking so I'm happy that I pretty much broke even. Let's see if I can get below 200 already!
  6. I'm not sure what your diet is like at this point, but for a lot of people 4 days out and they are still on liquids. I know for me, I had an overall lack of energy both mentally and physically. As I gradually was able to eat more, my energy level came back up. Just think that you're taking in so few calories at this point probably, your body doesn't really feel like doing too much.

    night coughs

Exactly! It's dangerous for anyone, but especially those of us with the band. Get that checked out! I just can't imagine having symptoms like this consistently, even if it wasn't dangerous, and being okay with that! Especially when symptoms like this, or other things I've seen on the board such as only able to eat 2-3 bites at a time, etc, are often caused by the band being too tight or our eating behaviors. I want to lose weight like the rest of us, but I will NOT sacrifice my quality of life! I want a normal life, and being uncomfortable especially when I'm trying to sleep just isn't up to my standards.

    concerned about all my pills

The only thing with this is that there are pills that can't be rushed because they are extended release, and also some pills can't be mixed together like that. It's important to check with your doctor and/or a pharmacist to see if it's okay.

    Plateau all ready?

If you're throwing up a lot and aren't able to get all your liquids in, you may be too tight. If you aren't getting enough calories in that you need, your body may be in starvation mode and is holding onto every last calorie there is.
  10. I've read that a lot of people have the same issues with inconsistency when it comes to restriction. I agree that conservative is the way to go, too, even though we get impatient. And I'm like you - I can't get on the scale everyday or else I obsess over it. I try to weigh only once a week. No, I haven't vomited. But I've also had no problems changing over to the smaller bites, and chewing really well. I thought I'd have a problem chewing well, but it came pretty natural and I think this is why nothing has got stuck. I can eat anything - bread, rice, dry meat - without problems.

  11. Oops I forgot to mention that they only filled me with 0.5cc - we went really conservative because I go to NYC on Thursday and I didn't want to be too tight.

  12. Hey lady!! Yea I had my second fill on Thursday. Since then close to 3 pounds have come off, so it's nice to see a sgnificant amount of weight come off the scale again. I'm ONE pound away from ONEderland, and it can't come fast enough! As far as restriction...I haven't noticed too much of a difference. I've had great restriction since day 1 and still have pretty decent restriction. Today is my first day of "real" eating since the fill since we have to follow that post-fill diet stages. I had my first meal but it was a lot of carbs, so it only kept me full for like 3 hours. I'll have to pay attention when I eat dinner tonight (I work night shift) to figure out how long my turkey tenderloin will keep me full for.

    How have you been doing?

7/10 - 230 last week - 203.8 9/14 - 201 Finally seeing some progress again! Had a second fill on Thursday and have had the few pounds come off since them. This journey to ONEderland has been way too slow for me lol But I still have been bad when it has come to exercising

    Cheating on Mushies?

Every doc has their own protocol, and their own reasoning for it. Basically the more "regular" food you eat, the more you stomach has to work to digest the food. It has to work and turn and churn to digest more solid foods, which could mess with your stitches. Even if it doesn't do anything immediately, it could have a lasting effect down the road. That is why the docs slowly advance your diet, so that your stomach has enough time to heal. You should definitely mention it to your nutritionist.

    First Fill Experiences

Hey everyone! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I had my first fill Monday and wondered how everyone else's went, and have you noticed a difference? Mine wasn't bad at all. This morning I ate 1/2 cup of greek yogurt mixed with 1 tbsp PB and was full for 5 hours!

    Surgery Prep

I believe I read one post on here where somebody had to do that. I didn't have to do anything like that, just NPO after midnight.

    Keeping tabs on amounts?

I did in the beginning as it was recommended by my doctor and they say people who journal are more likely to keep weight off. However, it doesn't fit with my day to day life so I had since stopped journaling. If I notice a slowly of weightloss, I will journal for a few days to see if there are any patterns.

    What weight loss??

I just try to pick food high in Protein, that's my main focus. Every doc/nutritionist has their own recommendations. Mine has me focusing on high protein (60-80gm/day) and low carbs (60gm or less a day). I also am told that my meal should be around 1cup to 1 1/4 cup in size. For Breakfast I usually always have the same thing. I eat about 1/2 cup of nonfat greek yogurt with 2tbsp Peanut Butter mixed in - you can do regular peanut butter, reduced fat, or that PB2 stuff. If I don't have that for breakfast, I'll eat a scrambled egg with cheese mixed in it . If you like turkey or something in an omelet, mix that in it too. For lunch I usually have a boca burger, which is a soy-based meatless burger but it is reaaaally good. I grew up eating these and still love them, and one burger has 17gm protein. The flame griller is my fav, as well as the chicken. I may have 1/4cup of veggies along with it. For dinner I usually have chicken or turkey tenderloin. Sometimes I use the spicy shake n'bake mix (i'm not much of a cook) to add something extra to it. I usually have some raw veggies that I dip into my ranch dip....except that it is the ranch dip poweder packet mixed into my nonfat greek yogurt instead of sour cream, so it's no fat and lots of protein. I try not to snack, but if I need to I either take some bites of my peanut butter yogurt, or do like a string cheese with turkey deli meat rolled around it so that it's a good protein source. The key is having good restriction. I've been fortunate enough to have decent restriction since day one. I can go 4 hours easily between meals. If I'm busy at work sometimes I go too long with 5-6 hours in between.

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

7/10 - 230 last week - 204.4 9/7 - 203.8 Another rough week for me. This time I was teetering between 204 and 203 so at least it was all loss. That's good considering my exercise was pretty much nonexistant - shame on me. I get a fill on Thursday which will hopefully help, but I know I really need to increase my exercise to see it melting off.
  22. When you are at the right fill, eating should never be an uncomfortable experience. You probably need a tiny unfill.

    Concerns about exercise

I agree...check with your doctor to find out what if any restrictions you have. I wasn't allowed to do any heavy weight lifting until about 6 weeks, and no ab work until 8 weeks.

Obama's trip to Montana a big stage!

I also agree with BJean here as well. I also could care less if that belief is wrong, too. Even if you really did talk and see God, it doesn't change my own personal beliefs. And I still think it's ignorant to think that there is only one right way, and anyone who doesn't believe is wrong.
