Christy, your surgery is not that far behind you. I still had pain on and off, I can't really remember what kind, but I took a little pain meds and it went away. I think as long as you are going every couple of days (if not every day) you will be fine. My friend (who was my operating nurse) told me "we screwed around with your insides and they don't like it". So I just chalked it up to that. Maybe I was wimpy, but the pain meds really did the trick. I figured no one was offerring any medals to those who don't use it. Trust me, I tried to earn one with natural childbirth! Ann & John~ How are you guys? I ate a little salad today but was nervous the whole time! I chewed like a champ!

John~ You have to give your body a break... it's trying to survive! I am sure you have hit a plateu and once it adjusts a bit you will lose again quickly. I was just starting to think something was wrong with me too. I eat less than 1000 calories per day and NOTHING... finally dropped another two pounds a couple of days ago. I guess if it were easy, we would have been skinny a long time ago. Hang in there, you're an inspiration! Ann~ I did the same thing with some shorts. I decided to take a trip to Tahoe and by the time I got there I had then completly unbuttoned! I don't suppose that was much of an option for you while you are at work though! I think I am down 20 pounds. I have my post-op appointment tomorrow. I guess the Doc will just make sure I am healing right... right? It's at 4:30 pm, I HATE weighing in the afternoon. At least it will be better than before.

I guess basically I should suck it up and stop whinning! Thanks for the tip. I did your Protein thing/water trick and it worked. I realize I need to do that everytime I start thinking about food. Bottom line is I am hungry, which means eat... which means protein and H2O! How is it going for you now?
-
Or is it just me? I am supposed to eat like 2 TBS of soft/pureed food at a time. It's not doing it! I am H-U-N-G-R-Y! WHat are you guys doing and is it working for you? BTW, I have not lost any weight in like a week, in spite of not eating much. What's going on?

Thanks, I will have to try it this weekend. I was just looking at your numbers and we are almost twins. I will be 38 in August, I started at 287 lbs, am now probably 268 and am hoping for 150. How cool is that?

Chili sounds SO yummy! Does that count as pureed, or soft food? I am ready to start grabbing food off of people's plates. I am going to have to start eating more... I feel social unacceptability coming on...

Cyndi, well you better get used to those kinds of compliments! Things are changing by the day for you. You must feel so proud! Ann~ I wouldn't mind coming over for dinner... those are some good ideas! I don't go in until next week, so it will be 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. I will be eatinf mushies. What is the difference between mushy stuff and pureed? I steam up carrots and then mush them up and eat them. Is this mushy or pureed? They are the consitency of baby food (That's how I made our baby food). -
I will have to get some, Ann. I am thinking about food ALL THE TIME. Maybe if I make what I can eat taste better it will be easier.

I slept with three pillows behind me, one flat one slanted on the flat one and one under my head. One pillow under my hips to make my legs in kind of a sitting position and one pillow under my left arm. A little codiene and I slept all night. I started sleeping on my side with pillows on day 5 or 6. Hope this helps! Congrats on being banded!

Glad all is going well! Mac~ I guess you will have to suffer through with the underwire. That port spot sure can get sore. My friend was my operating nurse and she told me that they use muscle retractors and they pull really hard there to get the port in place. Two thumbs up on the busty part though! I will be complaining that I am loosing weight in all the wrong places and you will be looking glamorous! Cyndi~ You sound like a trooper, when do you go back to work? I am a stay at home Mom, with three boys. My youngest is 2 and although he knows Mommy has "big owies" he wants me to hold him. :smile2: We cuddle on the couch, but it's not the same. I do have to pick him up to get him in his carseat from time to time. He isn't always cooperative. I took a dose of codiene this evening, I must have overdone today. Ann~ Do spanx come in all sizes? I heard about them on Oprah, but I never even looked to see if they would fit me. I guess it will be time to do so soon. I am so excited about the day I stop thinking things won't fit! That day is coming for us all!

Hey Rosie... that sounds miserable... I sure hope the benedryl kicks in soon. Hives aren't any fun, and it is not as if you are having fun getting them! I would suggest you knock out everything new from your diet. Go back to the basics and add new stuff in one at a time. You may never know what is causing your hives but it would be nice for them to be a thing of the past!

John~ you are doing so wonderfully! I am jealous of you getting to eat though. It is amazing that doctors are so different. I will be on pureed foods for 10 days, then graduate to "mushies". What the heck is "mushies"? Everything is mushy when I chew it! I am totally on the look out for food, I have been doing the liquid Protein thing since May 1st and I'm going to cave! Grilled veggies are my FAVORITE. I think I am almost down 20 pounds although I do not go see the doctor until next week. Xavier~ Benefiber... I will be giving that a go. Perhaps it would be a good stock choice! Tinman~ So glad that you are doing so well! Keep us updated! Ann~ You made it through the work week... how did it go? I am feeling good, but I sure wouldn't mind a meal soon. I won't eat until I am given the "all clear" though. Did any of you have to go in for a follow-up upper GI? I had to do that Monday. I guess all looked good because I haven't gotten a call. No news is good news!

Oh man, John. I am sorry and I can relate. I should have taken my own advice, by the time I was done today, I swear I am swollen shut. It hurts to pass gass. Sorry if this is too much info... but where else can you share this? (Although I considered sending out birth announcements for the rock of Gilbraltar today). I just looked at your ticker and you are already half way to your weight loss goal! That is amazing! I need to update mine, but I will have to do it after I get the boys to bed. Kids are calling...
