Thanks, John, for your sacrifice - you are greatly appreciated LOL. Are you close to sacramento at all - you should come to the meeting on the 26th. Can't sit around with too much time on your hands - my father in law was a baptist minister and he'd tell you that an idle mind is the devils playground. I don't know about your world but in my world the "devil" is short for "devils food cake"! -
I just came across this thread and was wondering how your mother is doing? I lost both my parents from cancer quite a few years ago so i whole heartedly agree with you - CANCER SUCKS! My aunt just finished her treatments for lung & throat cancer and she is free & clear for now. She and I will keep you and yours in our thoughts!

Oh, Pammie, that makes sense. So if you lose more weight then there will be room for more saline, right? I don't ever want to be too tight either but maybe I do if it means I can't eat anything and lose alot of weight. And, girl, this is Vallejo - All the "thugs" are forward. Come out here and you will meet lotsa guys - not quality, but quantity LOL. You will get picked up on all the time - they just don't usually say "I like you cuz your fat" so to speak... Hey Candi - why don't we try to organize our own support group on a friday evening. We can see if Angel or Donna can send out a listing - Donna can lead it :blushing: or something like that. Anyway, I'll come to a friday evening event if you find one or start one. -

Ok, so, today I was at safeway, looking for clear vanilla extract when all of a sudden a man - I say man loosely - he was probably about 23 or 24 - anyway, he taps me and says "I just had to come find you, from the moment you walked thru that door you took my breath away" I know - it's corny but listen, it gets better.... He introduces himself is name is...??? can't remember/not important - no, i'm not a complete BE-OTCH but listen to this... He said "I love a woman with some substance to her" DID HE ACUTALLY THINK THAT TELLING ME HE LIKES FAT GIRLS IS A COMPLIMENT?? WTF! Hi all - just finished catching up - Sorry, Donna - can't talk on the cell phone when I'm here (office). Good news about the weight loss Jane~ Nicole - doesn't it suck that you finally pulled it down and it's all too big LOL - hope you don't get too sick Hi Candi - good to have you back Tina - my figners are crossed! John & Jes - here's what Doc Fisher said: Yes, I can write for this medication since you were not given it. It is not vital, but might help with some people with nausea associated with anesthesia. This is not proven. Which pharmacy works best for you? Dr. Fisher Gonna pick up the pills anyway - proven or not - if there is any chance that it helps LOL. Feeling bad about Bridezilla - don't want to back down after 70 invitations were sent out... Got to think of a back up plan LOL -

Good question, Monique - I don't know for sure but I do know they test you for cigarettes so I don't see why they wouldnt test you for drugs too. -

Before I forget... My stepdaughter had a little falling out with my bridezilla - she made a marble cake in the shape of a 16 for bridezilla's daughter - anyway, bridezilla told her the cake was too dry.. So, I have surgery on Monday, the 14th and now have to make 2 cheesecakes, a red velvet cake, a carrot cake and a champagne cake with champagne custard for the engagement party on the 19th because my step-daughter refuses to do anything else for bridezilla - think I can pull it off? Will I be ok by thursday to get started on all this? BTW, it's not that Jessica can't handle constructive criticisim but bridezilla didn't do it that way, she walked around with a fork with cake on it to people in the middle of the party and said taste this - isnt it too dry? Isn't the frosting too sweet? She just called her out, so to speak, in front of everybody. it was very rude. -

hey reggie - good to see you! How are you? Thanks, John! I emailed Doc Fisher so now I just wait & see - Jes, I'll let you know what he says. If I were you, Id call kaiser and tell them you need to have your PCP paged & call you right away - tell them you are scheduled for surgery and the surgeon said there are "complications" and you need to speak to your dr. ASAP. Be vague LOL. If you need to go up there, Im free on Friday and will go with you to Kaiser and we will sit there ALL DAMN DAY till it's resolved! -

Jes - mine was just like yours - Doc fisher didn't give a crap about what meds i was taking - said the sustained release pills were fine because they go thru the pouch to the stomech where they go before surgery LOL. There was no talk of any anti nausia meds. Hmmm...? dont wanna be nautious! they probably give them to us at the hospital. I will remember to ask when I get there next week LOL. Oh, boy - 7 days is coming up quickly! -

John, I know the sleeve has been around for many years. From what I know, it was used as the first step to RNY for people who were way too big to handle the full procedure all at once. I just don't know how long they've been using it all by itself as a WLS and what the long term stats are. There's a girl on this website who calls herself "wasabubblebutt" she converted from the band to the sleeve and another guy called "headhunter" (I think) who did the same thing. If you haven't run into them yet you could try looking them up and they may be able to answer any questions you may have. Just a warning, though, I don't find them to be as pleasant as we are LOL. -
sooo nervous-surgery is on Wednesday
Desperate1 replied to dawnp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DawnP - don't tripp! My surgery is next Monday and yeah, I've had a moment or two of pause but you made the decision to have this procedure done for a reason - just stick to that reason and know that you are doing the right thing. I've met a ton of people - in person - from this website that are banded - most are over 5 months out and some are years out - NOT ONE OF THEM REGRETS THEIR DECISIONS! You will do fine - Just get up and walk ASAP and the "gas" pain will be nonexistant! Your mind will catch up with the band - the band won't let it fail LOL -

Hi Willowtree - I didn't have ANY difficulties. It all depends on your PCP - Once your PCP refers you, your in. the only requirement they have, i belive, is a BMI of 40 or above. OR, a lower BMI with co-morbidities. Just ask for the referral and see what they say.
