Sept 16th- Lap Band Removal today!

Glad to hear you are doing well!
  2. I want to see your face and quote on the next product run they do for this where you're showing two thumbs up and saying, I didn't slime or PB which is definitely an accomplishment! LOL!

    first upper gi and un-fill

    I have a paddle.
  4. I think there's a fine line between being disillusioned with the band and downright bashing it. There are definitely people that come in here and are like, dammit, my band slipped. Now I have to do something else! And they're looking for support. Then there are people that are downright bashing the band and act all superior. In my opinion, and I know it's MY opinion, the band is a valuable tool against obesity. Is it the perfect tool? No. In fact there is no perfect tool. I admit that I'm not as pleased with my band as others are and neither am I as dissatisfied as some either. I hope people do not take my posts that discuss issues with the band as bashing because that's not my intent. I enjoy helping people in here that genuinely need and want help and are seeking support. People that just come in here to bash the band, or people in this forum, can go suck a big one. Coming in here to thumb their nose and saying that they are going somewhere is really just childishness and is probably best ignored. Frankly when they do that I think to myself, Good riddance!

    Feed a cold....

PS - If you are nauseous I would get some fluid out and maybe request anti-nausea meds.

    Feed a cold....

I take zyrtec daily to help anything like that from turning into an infection. Also, when I'm draining a ton I take a decongestant to help dry it up. Good luck!

    Left shoulder pain when running

When I run my band tightens up a lot. It could be you getting tighter when you exercise.
  8. I understand that you're hurting but your post is neither constructive nor does it appear you are looking for support. I hear your opinion that, "You should only do it if you have chronic illnesses that you know will kill you" and reject it. It sounds like you need serious therapy and I sincerely hope you get it.
  9. I've been learning a lot lately and one thing I learned is that scar tissue can definitely play a factor in your revision. While someone might say their surgery is the best in the world they may be coming from a place where they had a 'virgin' stomach so to speak. Remember, the band is removable, NOT REVERSIBLE, like some people say it is. There will be scar tissue so whatever you decide to do that may complicate things. I just want to point that out so that when you're doing your research you're not comparing yourself to someone that is starting this journey from scratch. That being said, it sucks your band slipped. I do hope the best for you. Good luck!

    Soda dreams?

It's more than an impression. The maker of the lap band actually forbids it. However, many still drink it and some docs allow it. It's like voiding the warranty of your band though. Lol.

    Eating slow is hard

Put your utensil down right after you put the bite in your mouth. Don't start getting your next bite ready. Sit and concentrate on chewing.

    For you AJ

Nobody sends me pretty clothes. I could totally rock that flower print!

    Cheese

Just an FYI, I just had all my bloodwork done and it's good. My cholesterol is good and my mom, who's a nurse, said, I'm a little surprised with all of the cheese you eat! Lol.

    Do you miss favorite foods

I'm not saying you SHOULD drink beer over fruits and veggies but if you sat a beer in front of me and an apple I could drink the beer way faster than I could eat the apple. There's something about the juiciness of fruit that makes it go WAY slow in my pouch. For me eating fruit is almost like eating and drinking at the same time because of all of the Water in it. Veggies are easier than fruit but salad goes down slow a lot of times and don't even get me started on eggplant.

? about getting the stomach flu

I've known several people who have slipped their band from throwing up and I too am a little wary of having any ailments that cause me to throw up excessively. I think having fluid removed and getting some anti-nausea meds would be great precautions if you start getting sick.
  16. sleep on some pillow or in a recliner. Sounds like classic symptoms of a dilated pouch. Since you're already going to your doc there's not a lot you can do right now. You might consider going on liquids until you see your doc. PS - Night coughs and acid reflux is not normal for some people. If anyone as that they need to take it seriously.

    Fiber?

Water intake can also help a lot. Staying hydrated seems to help me more than taking fiber does.

    Pancakes

I can BARELY eat a pancake on a 'loose' day but normally I avoid them.

    Breakfast

Not to me it doesn't. Personally, I skip breakfast because I'm tight in the morning and just drink hot liquids until lunch. As you get more restriction you may find that you can't eat the cottage cheese in the morning. Then again, you may be just fine.
  20. Fruit is the hardest thing for me to eat. I can do veggies although eggplant can cause me problems.

    Feeling fed up!

The most important thing I do is put my utensil down between each bite. I also do NOT prepare my next bite while I'm chewing. As soon as the bite goes in my mouth my utensil goes down.

    Cheese

    Hello. I'm Guy. I'm a cheesaholic.
  23. GuyMontag

Wth did i do this for?

I'd like to say it gets easier, but it's surgery and the band is a pain in the ass. You may get used to it and you may not. If you want it out then get it out. I'm not going to sugar coat it for you. You gotta do what's right for you.

    Need some encouragment...

Lots of support. Friends, family, support groups, doc's office. Whatever it takes to help support you.
  25. I was very excited when I was newly banded. I've learned a lot and come a long way in the nearly five years I've had my band. After seeing what I've seen and going through what I have I'm a lot more open to other surgeries and I realize that you can't take a case here or there to justify a position you already hold. Sure, this is a lap band forum so we're mostly pro lap band. However, if I ever lost my band, which happens to the best of us, I'd choose the sleeve in a heartbeat. Plus, if you read some of the stories from bandsters who's bands have gone bad I think you'd find that they'd rather have 'being too skinny' as a problem over the myriad problems they've had to face. It would just be interesting to see the difference in opinions on this thread five years from now.
