Question About Sandwiches And Wraps
GuyMontag replied to wildrose1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I generally can't eat sandwiches unless I toast the bread and flatten it to get air pockets out. -
In was curious why some people are listed as Lap Band Guru, Member, Advanced Member, etc. I know that it normally is based on number of posts but I have more than many of the people that have Advanced Member and I'm just listed as a Registered User. Thanks. Okay...now I appear as an LBT Addict. Strange that it switched from Registered User.

I have a 14cc band. For about 2 years I had over 14.5cc of fluid in it but now I'm around 14.25cc.
-
You might really want to take a look at your liquid intake overall. Bandsters typically live their lives in a constant state of slight dehydration. It's really important to make sure you are getting enough liquids. Most people I know are tight in the morning and loosen up as the day goes by.
-
Some people add milk or water to 'fluff' up their scrambled eggs. I think that causes problems for bandsters. If you have eggs I'd recommend NOT adding any kind of liquid to them when you scramble them or eat them over easy or fried. However, it's always a learning experience with the band. You could just be tight one day...or that time of day...or dehydrated. I try not to cross any food completely off my list. I just try to learn when it's okay and when it's not okay to eat it or how I have to eat it whether that be really slow or lots of chewing or BOTH! Good luck.

Excellent! I figured it was something like that. It's cool to have them all laid out. Thanks so much!

Please Help!!!!! I Need A Protein Drink Asap
GuyMontag replied to allik07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank a ton of Boost with Protein and it was my favorite. Of course, I only used it for the healing stages and moved on to solid foods as soon as I could. -
So How Honest Were You....

I told everyone. It's better than them thinking that you're bulimic later on -
Pre-Op Diet Leaving Me Skeptical About Success W/band
GuyMontag replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bypass takes a lot less work though. I still think the band or sleeve is a better option overall but for people that aren't going to put much work into weight loss bypass is a better option IMO. Bypass is a set it and forget it surgery. Hopefully they set it right the first time. The band takes more work. You have to constantly get fills, there are constant hurdles such as heartburn, being too tight, being too loose, etc., along with adjusting diet to lose weight. The band is a good tool. However, if you give me the raw material to build a deck I'll do it. Some people are never going to build a deck no matter how many tools and materials you put in front of them. Some people are just better off buying something premade from the internet and hoping it ends up working for them. I talk to people all day in chat that honestly should not have gotten the band. The pre-op diet is tough...but if you're questioning the band before you even get it and think it's going to be too hard then it probably is. -
Chat is supposed to be back up by 6/15/12.

Pre-Op Diet Leaving Me Skeptical About Success W/band
GuyMontag replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band isn't a magic cure. It does take work. It's a tool but you have to be willing to do some work yourself. If it's this bad for you and you don't even have the band you may want to opt for the bypass instead. -
It's just bandster hell. You need more restriction then you'll start losing more.

Fill At 3 Weeks???
GuyMontag replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill at 3 1/2 weeks. If you've healed up well then it's probably not a big deal. -
Is This Normal Or Am I Too Tight?
GuyMontag replied to nancyginnm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fills can take at least a week to really kick in. Also, you can get tighter from stress, exercise, too much salt in your diet, etc. Try going on liquids for a few days and reintroducing mushy foods into your diet again. If you are still too tight you may want to consider getting some fluid out. -
I'm three years out and I drink soda over ice just fine.

Just want to let everyone know that if you are looking for a cheap and easy alternative to the gym resistance bands are great! I just picked some up off of Amazon for $30 and boy am I sore. So far they are just as good as freeweights for me and much more convenient than driving to a gym. Here are the ones that I bought and thoroughly enjoy: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Mountain-Products-Resistance-Exercise/dp/7245456313/ref=sr_1_3?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1312767004&sr=1-3 Just thought I'd pass along the tip! I'm learning the joys of resistance bands. Also, make sure to keep measurements and you may want to track you body fat percentage instead of your weight and BMI to gauge how well your workout routine is benefiting your body. Gaither
