    pain

The 'can't burp' feeling is very common...and annoying. It goes away.

    Changing habits

Eating like you have the band before you have the band is freaking hard as heck. However, you may be learning a valuable lesson early on. Once you get banded you have an awesome tool to help you and there is a natural high from the weight loss initially. Eventually though you're going to have to start addressing many of the food issues that you are having now. You'll still be able to eat crap, just less of it. Realizing that you have a problem with food now may help teach you that while the band can address the physical aspects of hunger, it cannot address the mental aspects of it. After I hit goal I really began to realize how much I used food as a coping mechanism and it took therapy to really help me come to terms with that problem. You may also benefit from some form of therapy as you continue on your journey down the road. Good luck!

    yuck

If you're throwing up that much you need Fluid out ASAP. Excessive vomiting can slip your band. You swell your stomach when you throw up and the more you throw up the more you swell into you are in deep do-do. Warm liquids can help with swelling as well as liquid motrin/ibuprofen. However, once you're as tight as you sound the only option is some fluid out. I can see holding off on getting a fill but you should never hold off on getting an unfill. One is about convenience, the other can ruin your band.

    how long did you wait

I called on a Thursday, started the pre-op diet the next day and was banded two weeks later.

I went back to silk boxers.

    Vomiting after surgery?

They should have given you anti-nausea meds. Vomiting is the worst thing you can do right after lap band surgery.
  7. I might consider it one but to be on the safe side I'd have to say no.

    Ugh post-op emotions!

After I got to goal I was depressed and sought therapy. He basically said, I eat to cope and now I can't do that anymore. So I had a choice, I could either find a new way to cope or I could cut the stress in my life. It seemed pretty simple when he put it that way. I don't think many of us realize how much we eat to feel better.

Appetizers like dips are good. Soups. Mashed potatoes.

Is It True What They Say???

2 millionth post? Just think how awkward support group meeting will be on the 14th. I can see it now. I walk up to Steph and jokingly say, "So you want to see my junk, huh?" Meanwhile, ALL 50 other people at support group get real quiet and stare at me like a creeper. Of course, THEN I'd follow up with, My van is just out back! Walk out hand in hand with Steph LIKE A BOSS!

    I aim to please.
  13. I'm used to it and it's a small thing for piece of mind. Like I've said, I've seen it burn too many people. No thanks. I've had my band for almost 5 years and I plan on keeping it for a lot longer.
  14. There's one. Any more?
  15. Unless someone else can chime in with why coffee would be a health risk? I've never heard of any.

That's ridiculous and a failure on your provider's part. Aftercare is 90% of the band's success. I'd call right away and find out about support groups in your area or call some other offices to find one. You'll benefit greatly from a local support group.

    leaving

People crack me up that post 'leaving' messages. If you want to leave without the drama then just go. The fact that you're trying to stir **** up before you go just goes to show you that it's YOU that likes the drama. Sad. I bet this person is the same kind of person that constantly 'deletes' their facebook only to come running back every week. Good riddance.
  18. That's one of the rules that is not universal. Some say that coffee hinders weight loss...others disagree. Is your nutritionist banded? I drank coffee like crazy and lost 127lbs doing so. Some say not to drink coffee because it's a diaretic...so what? If you pee more then drink more! Ironically, I did have to give up coffee because the caffeine was giving me headaches so I now drink decaf exclusively. Have you talked to your doc about it? I'd go with his advice over the nutrtionist personally.

Where is the 'waving bye bye' emoticon?
  20. I will say that I've personally known MANY friends with the lap band that have dilated their pouches by drinking while eating. Just keep that in mind. I've never heard of a single doctor saying that it's okay. Some rules docs differ on such as allowing carbonation. The drinking while eating isn't one of them.

Being down is better than being up! Maybe you need more restriction or some good support?

    Would you have WLS again?

I would definitely have WLS again but I would look into the sleeve more closely this time.

Is that this coming Monday? Are you going?
  24. I drink right up until time to eat. I do not drink while I eat or 30 minutes after. After almost 5 years I honestly don't even notice anymore. I got pretty used to it after the first few months. The funny thing now is that when I cook for people I always forget to offer them drinks.
