Hello everyone! I am new and nervous. I will be band by Dr. Bonnor on May 5th. Has anyone been band by him or know anyone who was band by him? If so, please tell me about your experience.

defending my band to someone who doesn't get it- what are good things to say?
raelita replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just Banded, I am sorry you had to go thru that with your mother in law. That is why I am SO glad ONLY my husband knows I was banded. I would love to tell everyone, but I can't handle having to defend my choice right now. I have to focus on changing how I think, feel, and react to food. I have to work on fixing my obession with food and not others ignorance toward the band and people that are banded. I was having problems with my stomache and people at work knew I was having surgery, because of those issue. I did not and would never tell them about the band. I don't need to watched or lectured. So at this point think the most important person that needed to know knows. As well as my BANDSTER BUDDIES. Oh, BTW did I say I LOVE THIS SITE!! -
This is an awesome idea! My DH came up with a similar system. For every 25lbs I lose I will be rewarded with a gold charm for my charm braclet.:scared2:

I don't know, because I haven't tried yet. I am only two weeks post op.

only 6 days with a band, should I do VSG
raelita replied to brileysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! I am newly banded also. I am so sorry about your band slippage. I didn't know the band could slip the first day. If you researched your options and discussed things with your husband and you are ok with the VSG I think you should go for it. I have read a lot of good stuff about the VSG. There is a blogger, Wasabubblebutt, who knows ALOT about this stuff. She is always posting. Maybe you could look her up and talk to her. Once again, I am sorry about your slippage. -
Thank you soo much for the suggestions. I talked with him today and I can only have protein shakes, water, and decaf tea. I just started my second week and tonight I broke the rules and had some tomato soup. I just could not handle only drinking protein shakes. I hate being a cheater. How did you customize your blog?

Confessions of diet infractions here...
raelita replied to shellynnrn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, I broke! I went on a rampage and I am so ashamed. Today I licked a pork chop, sucked on a peppermint, and sucked the salt off of two pretzels. I know I am a bad, bad girl and I should be punished. You gotta understand I am on liquids and I can only have water and protein drinks. NOTHING ELSE! I have a doctor's visit tomorrow and I will confess to him as well. -
I know I am newly banded, but I think this could be dangerous. You may accidentally hurt yourself. Just my opinion. You keep saline lying at your home?

I was just banded yesterday, 05-05-09. I am STARVING and full of gas. How can I get rid of the gas and what can I do to make the hunger pains go away. I am on a protein shake diet until 05-26. I want to be successful, but I AM SO HUNGRY. PLEASE HELP, I don't know how to make my new tummy stop hurting or growling. I can't have broth and I don't know why.

Thetig, Paulawally, and babertm: Thank you so much for posting. Yes my Dr. is VERY STRICT! I would love a SF popsicle, but he said it is NOT on the list and I can't have it. I have not been getting all of my protein and water in. I am trying really hard, but it is VERY hard to stomache the shake after so many days. My body has adjusted I think. I am not as hungry. I get a hunger pain at around 6:30ish. I make sure to drink some protein. I mixed carnation with my protein shake to try to get more bang for my buck. The walking, rocking, and rolling did help with the gas! Thank you for sharing your ideas.

I am new to all of this, but my personal mantra is Slow and Steady wins the race. Remember the Tortise and the Hare. I was banded so I could lose weight in a healthy manner. I know this is going to be a long process, but I got stick wth it and stay the course. It's HELL now, but a year from now you are going to have Rocking Body! Hang in there you can do it!

Hopefully tomorrow will be better. My cycles are totally out of wack. I haven't had since December (5 months) and no I am not preggers. I can just go long periods of time without one. -

Can't take deep breaths...
raelita replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was band on 5-5-09. I experience the same thing from time to time, but I use the aspirator that they gave me. If I am at the store then I stop and take deep breathe. Hold it a and then release it. It is painful sometime an I hope it goes away soon. -
What to look for in a Protein Powder/Drink?
raelita replied to WDW Luver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Isopure! I am not a protein shake drinker, so I am truly going through bandsters hell. It is really hard for me to get the 60 grams of protein. I am also drinking the special K water, because that has 5 additional grams of protein. Every little bit helps right. I just started my second week of protein drink and water. Pray for me that I make it through. -
moonbeam: I am a new bandster. I have a lot of weight to lose. I know this is not going to be an easy journey, but I have to believe I can do it or I will fail myself before I even give myself a chance. This is going to be the hardest thing I have ever had to do, because I must have willpower and self control to make this work. The band is a tool just like an oxygen tank. If you have emphysema you would not continue to smoke and then declare the oxygen tank doesn't work. Same with the band. We can not eat whatever we want and then expect to drop weight and keep it off. We have to work hard and want it more than any other dieter. We are not perfect, so we will mess up, but we have to be able to move on and make better choices our next go around. YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT! I set mini goals for myself. Each time a lose 20 lbs. I am going to reward myself with a charm. This will serve as a remainder of my journey. If you want we could help each by checking in once a week and discussing our SUCCESSES as well as slip ups.
