If Your New and You Know It Clap Your Hands
raelita replied to Makulafamy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Amy for banding! I have had my band for four days. I am definately in Bandster HELL! I am not only hungry, but I am having hunger pangs today. I can only have protein drinks and water, vitamin water or decaf tea for three weeks. I have so much gas I feel like I am going to explode. Sometimes the gas will come out and other times it will just stay there. It really hurts when it is stuck. I notice when I sleep on my side even though it may hurt a bit the gas comes out. Please tell me how you made it through Bandster HELL? What did you do when you really got hungry? I've nursed my hunger pangs with protein drinks, but that is not hitting the spot. Please advise! Thanks! :glare: -
I am new to this. From what I understand clear liquid consist of items you can see through (chicken, beef broth, etc.) Full liquids include your dark murky stuff like protein drinks ugh Day 3 for me post-op on the protein drinks. I have 12 days left. I hope I make it! I think mushies are things that can go thru a strainer like watery cream of wheat, grits, etc.

Yes I did have my surgery on the 5th. I am happy about that part. I am not as sore as 2 days ago. The port is starting to hurt a little more. I think it is because I am moving around alot. I can only drink protein shakes, water, and/or vitamin water. I AM STARVING. I will not be able to move on to the mushy stage until May 26th. What did you do to help you get past this stage.

I was just banded yesterday, 05-05-09. I am STARVING and full of gas. How can I get rid of the gas and what can I do to make the hunger pains go away. I am on a protein shake diet until 05-26. I want to be successful, but I AM SO HUNGRY. PLEASE HELP, I don't know how to make my new tummy stop hurting or growling. I can't have broth and I don't know why.

DaChanginQueen, Congrats on your 5-06 band date! My doctor told me I will be on clear liquids the first 24 hours only. After that I will be on full liquids. I can have Juice Plus Shakes, Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast, Boost High Protein, Ensure High Protein, Whey or Soy Protein, Glucerna or Choice DM, or Isopure 60 cc every hour. Along with Water, Crystal Light, Unsweetened decaffeinated tea, Fruit20, and/or Propel Fitness Water. I was also told absolutely NO Carbonated drinks, caffeinated drinks, gum, or straws. If it is not on the list I can't have it. I have to find out about the vitamins, because he did say I would need some gummies. But I was in WalMart yesterday picking up things I would need and I came across a One A Day Women Mix In. I compared it to the One A Day Vitamin bottle and they were the same, so I am going to ask if I could try that in lieu of the Gummies. -

Sherri, Congrats! I am also being band on 5/5/09. I am so nervous. Let me know how you surgery turns out! -
Congrats! I will get my band on Tuesday so I understand how you feel. I am so nervous, yet so excited. I really hope my journey is as successful as the journeys I've been reading about. I really HATE protein shakes, bars, etc. So, I know this will be a hard 3 weeks for me. I want to do everything right, so I don't mess up my tummy. I am on a low carb diet in preparation for the surgery, but I don't really know whats off limits and how many carbs I am suppose to have a day. I have read labels and I try not to eat anything with more than 4 or 5 carbs. I had 10 pretzels today with cheese cubes and Genoa Salomi, because the cheese had less than 1 carb and the Salomi had 0. I really want some melon, but I don't know how many carbs so I try to stay away. I really miss salsa, bread, soda, margaritas, and chips, but I think the end results are worth giving those things up. Add me to your friends list and try to keep me updated on your progress and I will do the same. Once again congrats on your band!

ANYONE Being Band By Dr. Bonnor in Katy, Texas?
raelita commented on raelita's blog entry in Blog 64837
Thank you for your well wishes. I am SO nervous! When were you banded and how are you progressing? -
Howdy! I am new to the sight and blogging. I am suppose to be band next week, but there seems to be a few kinks to work out with my ins. co. BCBS. My predetermination of benefits came through with minimal issues and now we're waiting for pre-authorization. I know this is a bit late, but I would love to hear from others who have been banded by Dr. Bonnor.

Questions for bcbs patients...and other questions
raelita replied to sheshegirl72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I am new to this site and to blogging. I have BCBS of TX. I went through the six months structured diet. I had to meet with a nutritionist and a baratrician <-- which is basically an internal medicine dr. that specializes in treating lapbanders. I also had to join a gym and participate in two support group sessions. My procedure was approved, but it took BCBS 3 months to approve it. Once it was approved they did not notify me or my dr. office. My dr. office call for 3 months (from Dec. to March) and they were given the run around. I called in March and was told immediately that the procedure was approved. Now we're having issues with the pre-auth, and I am scheduled to have surgery in 3 days. I can go on and on with my issues, but I will not bore you. In a nut shell the 6 mos. structured diet was way easier than my current waiting game. This is seriously taking a mental and physical told on me. I really hope your process will be much easier than mine. -
