    POST OP Diet

i started scrammbled eggsW/ cheese after 1 week. Just do one at first and see how that works. Also when i do have 2 I take 1 yolk out and toss it out. The protein is in the white. I mix in a small amount of skim milk. This makes it very moist. If you use cheese go no-fat
  3. Also protein shakes, I have actually really started to enjoy having these. I mix mine with skim milk
  4. mashed potatoes, unsweetened applesauce, scrambled eggs w/ no fat cheese, canned french style string beans(theses mush up well but sometimes have peices of stems so be careful), pudding, stewed tomatoes, vegtable soup, when your ready for chicken I love to cook boneless, skinless chicken breast in the crock-pot all day with a can of diced tomatoes.
  5. I like to call us the "Bandhood". Instead of saying willpower I say I have "Bandpower". Although we all know we use plenty of willpower! Any other favorite names or sayings out there??:frown: PS I love these smiley guys.
  6. Maybe her Dr. gave her a fill when the band was installed. She should ask. Also if she does not feel that schedule is right for her maybe she can look into a new Dr. I did not get my first fill untill 2 months.
  7. Go Elfiipoo! Sounds like your doing great. What size band and how many, what quanity fills have you had? I have only had 1 fill, 4.6 in a 10. band. I eat less then I use to but feel I'm going more on willpower then bandpower. I'm calling my Dr. today to get another fill scheduled.

    Ideas? Advice?

This is where the protein shakes come in handy. Use the type with 20 grms protein per serving (at GNC). I mix mine with skim milk and have for breakfast. Thats about 29 grms protein for about 250 cal. At first I wasen't real crazy about them but I actually get my "chocolate fix" by using the choc. flavored one. Also extremly important, Take your vitamin. It is impossible to get all the nutrition you need from the little we eat. Good Luck, Leslie
  9. Sounds like you are just a fast healer. I am the same way. Within 2 weeks post-op I was able to eat some normal, although healthier foods. I had my first fill last Wed (4.6 in a 10. band) and by yesterday again I was able to eat "normal" food. I have not had any sliming, PB's, getting stuck, or throwing up. I do not have restriction yet although I certainly can't eat as much as I use to. I feel I'm going on willpower and am going to schedule my next fill today. Good luck, Leslie
  10. I was banded on Dec. 21, 2009 in NJ. Anyone else done on or near that date?? Would like to chat with you and see how your doing and maybe help support each other. Thanks, Leslie:smile2:
  11. I originally started this thread. I was banded on Dec. 21, 2009 at Atlant Care in Atlantic City NJ. I live in Salem County, How about you?
  12. I had my gall bladder out after almost dieing of pancreatitis due to gall stones going into my pancreas. The scars for my gall bladder surgery were nothing compared to the lap band scars. 3 little scars about 1/4-1/2" in length. Try not to let this get you down. Good Luck

    late fill?

looking around this site I thought I was behind also. There are people who are on there 2 & 3rd fill who were banded after me. In a year from now we will all be healthier and the fill thing will not matter as much.

    late fill?

My banding was on Dec. 21, 2009 and I just had my first fill today. It was a good size fill(4.6 in a 10 band). I lost 28 lbs the first 5 weeks and stayed the same for the last 3. Good luck

I to had my first fill today. My band is at 4.6 now. Seems like alot for a first fill, but I'll take it. Lost 28 lbs since my banding on Dec.21, 2009.

    I took my dressings off

I was also shocked at the size of the scar where they inserted my port. But in the long run the scar is nothing compared to the extra weight I've been carrying.

    When will I learn?!?

I think we are all going to have "bad" days. But we need to keep things in perspective. How does a "bad" day pre-op compare to a "bad" day post op. If we were perfect we would not have needed the surgery to begin with. We are all "losers" and proud of it.

    Food Tips

I should have clarified that, sorry. Yes I use the pre-made cups and I meant that I eat it frozen with a spoon. That way it takes longer to eat. You can let it sit out to thaw some, but I like it frozen.
  19. Just 2 tips for others to try. 1; I love to cook chicken breast(boneless, skinless) in the crock pot for at least 8 hours with a lrg can of diced tomatos. The chicken comes out soooo tender and with the juice from the tomatos it is very moist, also get my veggies from the tomatos. I add alittle salt & pepper before I eat it. 2: I have pudding for a snack but I keep it in the freezer. It last alot longer this way. Any other food tips out there??
  20. I go in tomorrow for my first fill also. This information was nice to read. My doctor does the fills with the flouroscopy.
  21. I was curious because I'm in NJ not to far from OC NJ
  22. It's very hard to get the amount of protein you need from real food with out overeating. That is the advantage of a protein shake. I do mine in the morning, 29 grms protein and only about 275 caleries. I mix mine with skim milk and use alittle more milk then the 8 ounces, usually about 10 12 ounces of milk. Works for me!!
  23. Dec 21 I was banded. Lost 28 lbs the first 5 weeks, nothing since. I go for my first fill in 2 Days. Seeing your user name, is it OC NJ or MD?
  24. The diet you did pre-op should be fine if you take a vitamin. My doctor said I should do at least 1 protein shake everyday, possible for life. This is what he tells everyone. I think this diet would be plenty suffient untill you are comfortable going back to "real" food.
  25. Yesterday all I could think about was food. I joined facebook and started hunting up old friends from high school. Next thing I knew it 6 hours had passed(I did not even think of food, was having to much fun), I found people I have not talked with for 25 years, and some of us are going to get together soon(more incentive to do good eating and exercising) Leslie
