Bandster with Celiac Disease
neenagh replied to Micia il MINIac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my little grandson almost died before they figured out what it was. he was diagnosed at 18 months with a biopsy, and they blood tested his little sister (5 mo) and she had anti bodies too. they say northern europeans have the highest incidence and within that group the irish are even higher. and guess what? we're irish! -
Bandster with Celiac Disease

Hi Kristin, I dont have Celiac, but two of my grandkids do. It's quite a challenge at the best of times! I really have to give you a big pat on the back for taking on the band as well as Celiac disease! I wish you all the success in the world. -
Good Luck! I know everything will go smoothly.

Wow Samee, I went to your before and afters! you go girl! your beautiful. -
Wow they looked that good at three weeks!? I hope mine are that great! hey argon seriously tho, if you cant show off your boobs here, where can you? heehee
-
Okay, here's my plan. I have to go on optifast for two weeks before my banding. I'm gonna do the soup diet a week before that, so that i have a really good jump start on my weightloss before i get banded.
-
Yoda, Thanks, i was worried cuz there's no way in hell i can go without a bra!!! Argon, boy those incisions are really looking good (so's the boob!hehe). And from what i've gleaned here, i really thought my port would be around there too. thanks ladies

How did you find out about the Band?
neenagh replied to lisah25's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I read about Sharon Osbourne having it done a few years ago. It really appealled to me as far less dangerous than rny. Then I searched and searched until I finally found out about doctors in Canada doing it. -
hi sherryjo, thats where i have seen most of them in the scar stages thread, so i was kinda suprised when he told me where he did it.

Hello everyone! Can I join? Puleeze?heehee Seriously, I'm getting banded August 31st! by Dr. Mumford in Mississauga Canada. soooo exited!!!!
-
Hi Gang! Well, I did it! I went for my consult on Thursday to see Dr. Mumford. I booked surgery for August 31st. He was one of the nicest, empathetic people I have ever met! His nurse Marie was so lady like and friendly too. They let my Sister, Husband and Niece all pile into the room with me, bless them. My husband, who had reservations, was really impressed and is convinced now that I'm doing the right thing. I paid the $200 consult, $500 deposit, and I bought the Optifast. Stressing about the money now, but will tweak the budget as much as I can! I told him about my work problem and doctor's notes, and he said that he would write a letter on his general surgery practice letter head, and would say that i needed the day off. period. ( I have vacation booked after that) I have to buy a blender, too, as I havent had one since about 10 years ago when one of my teenagers (they're grown and gone now) tried to make a milkshake out of just ice cream, nothing else! and burnt out the motor. Little bugger. I don't have a family doctor, so now I have to find walkin clinic that will do the physical. Sorry for rambling, but I'm stoked!:biggrin1: Oh btw, I have to change my weight ticker, I weight 230, not 225:tired Oh well.

Thanks for the encouragment Lana!

Hey cloe, Irish or not, your doing great!

When I was dieting thru Dr. Bernstein, they were trying to tell my that my goal should be 135. I said "ok, but i'll be dead", the skinniest i'v ever been is 160, so i was quite happy that the doc upped my goal weight!
-
Thanks Argon! Hey Yoda, I'm a freckly redhead too! except I hate it so much i dye it blonde. cant control those freckles tho, heehee My original goal weight was 140, and he thought that 150 was more realistic. yay!

Hi Everyone, I am still trying to figure out what erosion is exactly. Does a hole erode in your stomach?!? Does the band erode? Is it the end of having a lap band? Probably dumb questions, but I just don't get it.:cry Thanks!
-
Penni60 God bless, and thanks for answering my irritating questions, when you have so much on your mind.
-
Hi Cloe, I sure did, Aug 31st! I just posted a new thread if you want to read my semi hysterical ramblings on my consult, heehee
-
Thanks TexasTerry! Hey IrishMist, thanks, and aren't we lucky to have supportive husbands? p.s. I'm Irish too!
-
oh me again, forgot to mention that he thought my weight goal was unrealistic, and I should aim for 150! I realllllly looovvvve this doctor!
