all the boys are blonde and fair, and she's the only dark one, eyes, hair, skin. So my husband (he's italian) walks around holding her like a trophy, insisting to everyone "doesn't she look just like me?" he never mentions that our daughter in law is half spanish!

As i told yoda, living the clean life really pays off! seriously, botox is a wonderful product. no really seriously, it's one of my grandbabies, the only little girl.
-
btw Yoda, went last night and got some orange extract, some almond extract and some lemon. Tried the orange this a.m., and it did make a difference. Marie at dr. c's told me to blend it more also. it expanded and expanded, until it was kind of fluffy, and that made it a novel experience if nothing else. Also going to try it with decaf coffee ice cubes. just finished story time. I have decided that i can no longer do any food related story times! too dangerous...for the kiddies. heehee

Hi tay! I went to miss. for the consult. I thought that it was too important not to go and meet the doc, see whether I got good vibes or not, etc. Also meeting and talking to the doc convinced dh that this was a good idea, too. The consult was about an hour long! really! Everyone at the clinic is super friendly and knowledgable and KIND. Dr. M. took great pains to explain everything to me, and explained to my husband why obese people are the way they are. Not because we are lazy gluttons, but a host of factors including genetics, brain chemistry, social issues, our upbringing, culture, stress, hormones, etc... HE WAS FANTASTIC. no question was too dumb. They do weigh you and measure your height. as long as your bmi is over 35 i think your ok, but you do have to go for a preop physical (with your own doc) two weeks before. they also have you do blood work and if your over 45 an ecg. You don't have to get undressed. (I posted here asking if I needed new panties for the consult, much to everyone's hilarity) You have to buy the Optifast from them. It was about $165? i think. He wants your liver to shrink before the surgery, as he has to move it over to get to you stomach. The consult is $200 which gets applied to your surg, also you have to pay $500 to book the surg, which also gets applied to the surg. two weeks before your surgery you pay the balance, which is $15,300. I looked into detroit too, and was shocked at the price! btw as far as the optifast goes, i whine, but its just moderately awful, and I keep reminding myself its for a good cause! Best of luck on your journey ((hugs))

btw i'm in optifast hell!:0

Hi Swanny and taymac Welcome guys! I am going with dr. mumford aug 31! He works with dr. cobourn and he's fabulous. I didn't tell anyone except my dh, my sister and my best friend. I'm in south western on too, it is a 3 1/2 hour drive to mississauga, but i think it's worth it, bec. i want the best for myself. Hey if we're gonna do this, we may as well do it right, right? for fill, i think i want the one who put the darn thing in to fill it

Hi Tired old man, i got 16 right, but as my hubby says, i'm a veritable font of useless information! i got #6, 12, 15, and 18 wrong.

You have a great attitude, and I think youre doing this for all the right reasons. I can feel it rubbing off onto me. I'm glad i have met someone here getting surg on the same day as i am, and i would love to share notes with you after the deed is done! It must feel great to be able to get a decent amount of sleep. Is the machine noisy? The con for me of course is that OHIP doesn't pay for it...idiots. They will pay to have my insides rearranged (gastric bypass), but not lap band. As far as Pros go, I like the idea that they wont cut my stomach in intestines up, i won't have dumping syndrome, I will lose weight at a slow and safe pace, and if necessary i can have all my fill removed if i need extra calories for some reason (e.g. illness, since there's no way in he** i'm going to start having more babies at my age!:biggrin1: ) I want to be a fun grandma, and I want to dance with my dh at all thier weddings. Fears, i have plenty, not about the surgery or the recovery, but that I won't lose weight, or that i will be one of those people who consistently eat "around the band" bec. they are hopelessly addicted to food, or that i will have to have it taken out for some reason. I'm really looking forward to buying nice clothes, walking without pain (maybe even wearing heels again), having energy, sleeping well, have my dh leer at me the way he did when we were young *blushing*, going swimming when we go to the cottage (which of course involves the use of that terrifying garment, the bathing suit) and playing with the grandkids, without playing dead so i can catch my breath! Well, I think I have rambled long enough, hope this isn't a thread killer!!!!:nervous

Josette, Thanks so much for the encouragement. The baby is my 2nd youngest grandbaby, she's the only girl out of 4. I think if i were single, or independant financially, i wouldn't care so much, but i feel like i'm spending his hard earned money on myself. Sorry about going on and on, feel better now! honest. Thanks again for your kind support!!! Congrats on the the weightloss already!

:omg: Omg! I feel exactly the same way! I am using a home equity line of credit to pay for the surg too. My dh is saying that this is something we really need to do for my health, but i feel scared and guilty because i know our finances are going to be VERY tight over the next 4 years paying this off. My husband works construction, so paychecks can sometimes get a lot smaller over the winter, etc, etc. I'm being banded aug 31st. I hope i'm doing the right thing.:omg:

2nd Day pre -surgery diet
neenagh replied to Jettjaxx's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Jettjaxx I'm in Ontario Canada, pre surg ( I/m going on aug 31/06). How bout you? If you want to put a ticker in your sig. go to tickerfactory.com, follow the directions, copy the url and paste it into your sig. Hi Surby, Lots of docs don't require a pre surg diet. Don't know why some do and some don't. -
Wow, I'd be really interested in finding out about this too!!!
-
Foodstampchamp, I do exactly the same thing. no one knows. I pray that when I get the band the desire to do this will be managable. I'm doing the preop liquid fast right now, and boy is it a struggle.
