Thanks for starting this thread. I too am a slow loser. I find myself comparing my weight loss to all the others who were banded in Sept, 2009 or after me. They all have huge numbers. I did not have a pre op diet, and have not drank any protien shakes. My dr. was real slow increasing my fills. I have a 14cc band and have 7.1 ccs in it now. I am finally feeling some restriction which has helped alot. But I have days where the stress and constant feeling of failure gets to me and I will graze. Also 2 ladies I work with have had wls. One the LAP-BAND® a year out and has lost 60 pounds (you can really tell.) The other gastric by pass and has lost over 100. People who know I had surgery - tell me I look like I have lost more weight. People who don't know I had surgery - have not made any comments at all. I want to see results! Sorry to ramble on, but I feel better just talking about this. Thanks for listening, Jamie

I get the hiccups. I think I get them when I eat too fast or I am full. They can be loud and annoying and even hurt at times. It reminds me I need to slow down and take smaller bites.

Ok, I know this is a gross subject, but I haven't seen it in this thread. I have been having problems with constipation. I talked to my surgeon about it and he said it is not caused from surgery. ( I never had a problem before) I don't want to become dependent on laxatives. I have tried stool softners, fiber pills, senokot with no success. I break down and take ex lax and that seems to work after 24 hrs. Then the next day I go back to the same problem a few marbles. Anyone have any good suggestions? I am going to see my family Dr. next week. -
how many cc's for restriction 14cc
jldchester replied to Alfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just wanted to give a little update. Since my last fill in mid January I have lost 5 lbs. The Dr. did not want to give me a fill on Feb. 18th. The office is 2 hours from my house so I talked him into a little one. .1cc I now have a total of 7.1 cc in my 14cc band. I dont feel any different. I am so thankful the scale finally moved. -
Can you tell me the Dr.'s name. I am from Iowa and currently see another Dr. in Sioux Falls. My fills are covered by insurance so all I pay is a co pay. I feel the dr. is going about my fills very slow. I have a 14 cc band and am currently filled with 7cc's. I don't have much restriction. I have not lost any weight for over 2 months. Any advice?
-
Hang in there I also have the 14 cc band. I have had 4 fills (7cc total) and still do not have much restriction. I hope my next fill will be my sweet spot. I am a month behind you (Sept. 4) and 2 pounds behind you. It seems I have not lost any weight for the last 2 1/2 months. Good Luck:thumbup:

I was banded in Sept. I have had 4 fills and currently have 7cc's in a 14 cc band. I do not have good restriction yet. My last fill was a week ago. I go back in a month. I am begining to worry. I have only lost 23 pounds since surgery. Any suggestions? I feel I am failing. I have been maintaining my weight for the last 2 months. -
8 months banded and I'm still learning

Thanks for the great info. I was banded in Sept. I can eat chips, crackers, etc. no problem. At times I feel like I have restriction (maybe I'm feeling stuck) Tonight I was able to eat 2 pieces of pizza and other times I can only eat an egg and a 2 bites of hashbrowns. I have no problem drinking water. I have a 14 cc band with 6.5 cc's in it. I have not lost any weight since Nov. I go for a fill next week. Your description of small bites will help me alot. I am going to watch that very carefully. I have gotten the hiccups - I thought I ate too fast. -
Wow what a great way to put it. I wish I would of found this thread before I had my surgery. I am a grazer and snacker. Being snowed in for the last week and all the Christmas goodies I have failed big time. I am so depressed - which makes me want to snack more. I do get restriction when I sit down to eat a meal, but you are sooo right the snacks go right on through. I am hoping when I get back to work (been off for 2 weeks) I will get back on track. I have done so well there not snacking. Home is where I have the hardest time. I just ordered wii fit plus and ea sports so I need to get my butt in gear and lose some weight. I have not lost for 2 months.

Happy New Year! Sounds like everyone is doing great. Reading all your posts gives me hope. I'm having problems with self control lately. I have been off work for 2 weeks and snowed in. We got over 22 inches of snow. With 3 kids and a lot of Christmas goodies around I haven't been able to stop snacking. I feel so guilty and depressed right now. Hopefully I can get back on track in 2010. I have not lost any weight in over a month. My next fill is Jan. 12th. -
Sounds like I just made a great purchase. I ordered wii fit plus and ea active, I should get it next week. I can't wait to try it out. I've been at a stand still and haven't lost in over a month. Been trapped inside with the snow storm over Christmas. Happy New Year!

Hi Bostonlady, I am in the same boat as you. Not much restriction at all. I have a 14cc band with 6.5 ccs in it. I have asked the dr. to be more aggressive but he will only give me 1 to 1.5 ccs at a time. My next fill is Jan. 12th. I have not lost any weight for over a month, but have been able to maintain. I hope my next fill will do the trick. -
4 months no weight loss! Please help?
jldchester replied to trishtlc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dont feel bad. I was banded sept. 4 have had 2 fills and do not have any restriction. I have managed not to gain but have not went down either. It is a tool, but it hasn't worked as far as telling me I am full. (Maybe right after surgery it did) -

Hi I got a second fill on Tuesday for a total to 4.5 cc. I do not feel any restriction at all. I am very frustrated. I got this done as a tool to help tell me when I am full. My dr. said my band is a size large and holds 14 cc. I asked for more and they said no don't want to be to aggressive and make you vomit. Also do your dr's take the old fill out and then add new? Mine just added. I'm a little concerned. Also I don't have to do liquids after. -
I stopped taking Nexium the day after my surgery. (Sept. 4) I just started having heart burn this last week so I got it refilled. I'm able to take it in pill form no problems. I might call my Dr. to see if this is normal. I also have had a slight stomach ache all week. Hope nothing is wrong.

I am in the same spot as you. I have lost a total of 21 pounds and that was 3 weeks after surgery (sept 4) I got a fill on Oct. 15 and have no restriction. My dr. would not let me come back in. Said I had to wait 4 weeks. Now I will go on Nov. 19, I am very frustrated. I can eat and eat. I have been stopping myself, but it is very hard. -
Hello all, I got my first fill on thursday the 15th. They put in 4cc and had me drink water. I could feel water in the back of my throat so they took 1cc out. Had me drink water again and it felt the same. (I think I drank too fast) I told them I was fine. I did not have to do liquids and was told to eat like I have been. I do not feel any restriction at all. I have not felt restriction yet. I am worried that something is wrong. I have felt bread(toast) get stuck. Any suggestions?

Abercchic, The more you move the easier it will be to get the gas out. Trying walking and make yourself burp and burp and burp. (Or Belch) It does take the sharp pain away. Sounds gross but it helps. Good Luck! You will feel much better in 2 days. Take Care Jamie -

I haven't had any shakes. With pudding and cream of wheat I have been running to the bathroom. I didn't get much from the dietician I saw. I feel like I'm on my own.
