We love Cracker Barrel too! Nearest one is 2.5 hours away so whenever we travel, we make sure to go there. I was looking at their menu and it looks like they have some good choices for a bandster. I also remember reading somewhere that any age person can order from the kids menu for a smaller portion. Here is a link to their menu chicken Dinners - Roast Beef Dinners - Chicken n Dumplins from Cracker Barrel

I lost 22lbs from the start of 2 week pre-op diet, then was banded on 6/2/09 and have lost an add'l 26lbs post op through 6/27/09. Based on the diet prescribed by my Dr. its not too hard to lose quickly. Lots of liquids from day 1 through 3 weeks post op. Best of luck to you.

I asked this exact question and was told DO NOT shave anything the night before. If you happen to cut yourself, even slightly, they will cancel the surgery. They shaved me after I went under anasthesia.

spongealan replied to katie35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 14 lbs on the pre-op diet. I have also lost 15 lbs since surgery on 6/2. The week of Clear liquids post-op was a killer:thumbdown:, but the number really dropped quick.:bored: -

Sunnyrachel, Thank you for lifting me out of my current negative spell! I am 5 days pre surgery and I am starting to let some of the not so happy stories get to me. That post should be required reading for all who embark on this journey. One word: "THANKS" Alan -

Its great to hear about significant losses such as yours. Its inspiring. I am having surgery on 6/2 and love to hear positive results. I am starting to get a little nervous reading some of the negativity. Can you give us some insight into what you think has helped you in acheiving such great results? -
Help-surgery close & eating more than ever
spongealan replied to Froggie D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way as most. I knew that I would be starting pre-op diet on Monday so I went to town over the weekend and went out and drank and ate like it was my last meal. I thought how the hell am I going to do this? It seemed so stupid that I was trying to get in everything I could. I was satisfied Sunday night. I woke up Monday and started the shakes and I am doing really well. -
Mike, I saw your measurements and thought they sounded familiar. I am 322 and started the pre-op diet yesterday for my 6/2 surgery. My goal is 190 as well. I am however 6' 2....oh well. Were you real solid on the pre-op diet? It would be nice to drop 10+ before surgery. I have been a bit hungry, but I am dealing with it. I figure I have been full for the last 30 years, so this is a walk in the park. Lets keep in touch. Good luck to you! Alan

I am being banded on 6/2/09 and I have not yet discussed the surgery with my daughters (12 & 10). I always preach honesty with my girls and I want to let them know as much as I can about what is about to happen to Daddy. My wife and I want to know the best way of telling them about the surgery, why I need the surgery and any other important issues surrounding it. As I am new here, I had no luck with the search function. If anyone has a link to any prior threads that I can look at, or any advice, I would so appreciate it. Alan

Restless, That statement is really helpful to me. I think I do feal guilty about it, but I need to try not to let them know I feel that way. I know I need to get past this feeling, and I think I will once I have an epiphany such that you had. I know this is a stong word, but I feel like a "failure". I keep thinking that all that I am going through, all of the $$ that the Insurance company is paying on my behalf I wonder why I just can't stick to a normal diet, not have surgery and be a normal weight person. I need to get my head on straight. I am getting some great information from all who post here and I thank everyone for that. Alan

What do I say if they ask why did I let myself get so unhealthy? What do I say if they ask why I can't just go on a diet and lose weight? These are questions that I don't even know the answers to. Thanks for the help! Alan
