  1. I am trying to find the funds to go and get my hair done before I start to lose it! LOL I do have REALLY THICK hair so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't come too noticealbe if/when it happens! I shed A LOT of hair on a daily basis the way it is! LOL
  2. I was sleeved on Nov. 15th and the first week I lost 15 lbs, second week I lost 1lb and 3 week I lost none! As I'm into my 4th week I have now started to see a change on the scale (can't be for sure how much until my official weigh in tomorrow) and what has changed the most for me is eating "real" foods and getting my protein in! I have finally got 60+ grams of protein in over the last 6 days and at min 40oz of water (still working on making that more) and I've started to eat more soft veggies and soft meats and soft cheeses!! I have been averaging about 600-700 calories a day where as before it was like 300-400! Just give it time, it will come off!! I know it's frustrating, I've had A LOT of negative thoughts over the past two weeks! LOL
  3. I guess I was a lucky one because I had no pain from surgery just gas pains and pain meds won't help those!! I would make sure you talk to your doctor again though and get something different to help with the pain!!
  4. My NUT says no soda for at least 1 year and steak at 4-6 weeks!
  5. WOOHOO!!!! Those are both AWESOME!!! Congrats!

    Left shoulder pain

I had it really bad until about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks out! Walking they say helps, for me it didn't make it any better but I kept on walking walking walking!!! I used a heating pad on my shoulder when I was laying in the chair and that would ease the pain some!

    Shots

I had them in the hospital and OMG you can too feel it! It's a nasty little pinch and then a small burn! You forget about it quickly afterwards though! I had cluster of tiny bruises on either side of my stomach when I left the hosptial!!

    Introducing myself

Welcome to the board and Congrats on quitting!! I've been smoke free for 1 year and 8 months! I too gained a weight with it but now I am sleeved (3 1/2 weeks post-op) and I couldn't be happier!! Good Luck!

    Serious Contemplation

My DH was set to be sleeved on the 29th of Nov. and while sitting in pre-op he decided not to do it. He really just felt something come over him and knew he wasn't supposed to go through with it, now or for a long time. He had been losing weight on his own with the pre-op diet and such so he wanted to give himself more time to see if he could lose it! So now he is counting calories and working out and sees the portions I can eat and it helps him keep his portions down! It's a HARD decision to make and I wish there was a magic wand to just tell you yes or no but I am a big believer that you must go with your "gut" feeling! Good Luck!!

    Energy

How many calories are you intaking each day? My surgery was on the 15th and I have TONS of energy! I'm taking in between 500-700 calories a day! I am trying to get more in but I'm finding it hard to balance it with my water intake also! Are you taking a vitamin?
  11. Today was an ERROR! LOL I am really trying to get my Protein in so I said I was going to make sure to do a shake each morning! So this morning I make my chocolate Peanut Butter shake at about 0715 and we left for the gym at about 0830 and I finshed it up on the way. Get on the treadmill and my poor tummy was "sloushy like" and just didn't feel good! I couldn't even make it 30 mins, after 15 I had to stop! Went to the restroom thinking I might be sick and wasn't thankgoodness but UGH I felt icky! Sat in the locker room burping! LOL So, I have now learned to not do this again! LOL I think I'll make my shake and drink half in the morning and then half after the workout and see if that works!

    GNC

We use the AMP Amplified Wheybolic in the black and red tubes from GNC! We have had chocolate, vanilla, banana Cream and Cookies and Cream and we like them all! As for "mixing it" there is a list in the recipes section that is a HUGE list of different ways and there are some SUPER yummy ones in there!! My fav. right now is Chocolate Peanut Butter! I use two scoops of Chocolate powder, 1 C Milk, 2T PB and about 6 ice cubes and mix it in the blender!!
  13. OMG That is crazy amount!!! I will say that being on Tricare as a retiree I was charged an Admin fee that I didn't know I would be. It was only $50 for my whole hospital day (3 nights)! We are Tricare Prime so I didn't think I would be charged anything as I thought it was going to be the exact same as when we were AD but oh well, I'll take $50 over anything else anyday!!
  14. Have you checked into other branches MTFs? I know Kessler is in MI, don't know if they have an MTF or not but thought I would throw it out! Have you talked to Tricare about if you can get it done at an MTF close by?
  15. I had mine done at the MTF here at West Point. My DH is reitred Army and we live about 14 miles outside West Point and I've had everything done there! I don't know about going out of state thing as usually you are "tied" to a certain MTF and you would have to transfer everything over to a new MTF in order to then use it unless in case of an emergency. Where are you at? Good Luck!
  16. I know that I should be patient but it's hard to think that I went through all of this and I'm not losing weight! I know my body needs time to heal but I really wonder if I'm doing something wrong?? FYI I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op! I noticed just last night how many carbs milk has! I didn't know that and maybe that is my problem? I've just been CRAVING MILK SO BAD!! Which is crazy because I'm not usually a real big milk person! Most days I am also getting 40oz of Water in! This has been my week of food thus far Sunday - Low Sugar oatmeal 1/2 Package - 60 cal 12g Carb 2 Prot 1 Cup Milk 1% - 110 Cal 13Carb 9 Prot Chili - 69 Cal 4.4 Carb 6.5 Prot Egg Whites - 17 Cal .3 Carb 3.5 Pro cheese - 57 Cal .2 Carb 3.5 prot No sugar added Instant Breakfast - 60cal 12 carb 5 prot 1 1/2 C Milk - 165 cal 19.5 Carb 13.5 prot Monday No sugar added Instant Breakfast 1/2 - 60 cal 6 carb 2.5 prot 1 1/2 C Milk - 165 cal 19.5 Carb 13.5 prot Egg whites - 17 cal .3 carb 3.5 prot cheese - 57 cal .2 carb 3.5 prot Beef (cooked in slow cooker all day until it fell apart!) .5 oz - 36 cal 0 carb 3.8 prot peas and carrots 2 T - 15 cal 2.8 carb .5 prot Tuesday 1 C Milk - 110 Cal 13 Carb 9 prot Egg whites - 17 cal .3 carb 3.5 prot cheese - 57 cal .2 carb 3.5 prot Beef 1oz - 73 Cal 0 Carb 7.6 prot Peas and Carrots 4T - 30 cal 5.5 carb 1 prot Milk 1 C - 110 Cal 13 carb 9 prot Milk 1/2 C - 165 cal 19.5 carb 13.5 prot Instant Breakfast - 60 Cal 12 carb 5 prot
  17. I was hoping my taste would change more but still a BIG NO to yogurt!! Only time I actually felt like throwing up since surgery was when I tried it again! LOL I have always hated it though! LOL I haven't tried tuna yet, but I do have some in the house so maybe I'll try that for lunch today! The carb count on the Protein drinks is I believe 7g while the protein is 60g but I have only been using 1/3 when I have been making them because I was doing different recipes for the list on here! I have thought that maybe I might be able to up my Water now, it seems I can take bigger drinks then the tiny sips I've been taking! I haven't really lost any weight since the first few days out of the hosptial! BUT even more then that, I want to make sure that I am eating the right things! I can say I crave meat and veggies which is so crazy!! I see chocolate and think ick! LOL
  18. Most my carbs are from milk and that is what my protein drink are made with so how do I cut that? Or what else is really good to up my protein with? I am on Soft/Mushy foods for the most part! I am pretty sure next week when I meet with the doctor/ NUT I will be moved onto solids.
  19. Sending thoughts and prayers your way for a good quick recovery!!!!!!

    Stomach polyps

I had an EDG done before surgery and my doctor found some "large" polyps but said that everything was fine and that they are common! It's crazy to think that if I wouldn't have been sleeved then I wouldn't have ever known that I had them!

    Hospital Stay

My doc said 3-4 days and I was in for 4 because I was SO Swollen and couldn't get my fluid in on day two so I had to stay all through day three and was relased on day 4! Monday for surgery, home on Thursday morning!

    Calories???

Cindy maybe you should change up the protein you are using? Are you eating eggs yet? The AMP Wheybolic protein powders from GNC have 60g of protein in three scoops with 8-12oz of milk! I've been working on making different shakes from the HUGE list in the recipe section so that I can get my protein in!! I have been staying below 700 calories (not totally by choice, that all I can eat right now) each day with still getting in average of 50g of protein!

    Sleeping Patterns Post-Op

OMG Thats crazy and scary!!! I took the Cherry/Mint flavored one and of course at first it was hard to get a full 2 Tbls down but I started to cut it in half and I was fine!! I hope you find something that you can take to help your cold!!
  24. So today is 3 weeks post-op and I really hope my body catchs up pretty soon! LOL I lost .4 of a lb this week I keep telling myself that I know it might take a little time and that I didn't gain the weight over night I'm not going to lose it overnight either! I have started to be very good about tracking my food and I am getting in about 600 calories a day which of course my goal is 700-800 and I've been getting in 50g of protein (which I know needs to be bumped up to 60g)! My plan is to start to incorporate more "meats" into my diet this week to try and get that protein up!
  25. My doc and NUT said I could start soft meats! Shoot, my NUT actually said I could go to full solids if I wanted to just as long as I chew chew chew until it's mush!
