WOW, that is one heck of a journey you have been through to just get to this point!!! Glad you were able to make it through and get your sleeve! Welcome to the board and Good Luck!

I weighed in Officially on Monday and was at 200 but over the course of the week I have watched my weight go up 2lbs This morning it was back down 1 of those 2 so I am hoping it continues to go down until I officially weigh in again on Monday (8 weeks!!) Over the past couple of days I have really been watching my food and making sure I am at least 60g of protein!! I really do think with me that is the trick! I can totally relate about putting "bad" choices in my mouth just because my body can handle it now
-
Now that I am on regular foods the choices aren't as bad but still bad enough that it makes me not what to eat out! We traveled 2800 miles over Christmas so we had to eat out some! I learned that McDonald's grilled chicken (just the meat) is a good meal with Protein. One time when we stopped at a gas station I grabbed beef Jerky and a tea and that was great! Before I was on solids I didn't go out at all. If my family wanted to that was fine they could but I would make myself something at home!

Did you have your surgery On post or off post by a civilian? If you had it on post then yes, some MTFs do it (mine did) but if you had it off post I'm really curious as to what all you did to get it approved because you would have been the first person we have met?

For those of you who have small-ish children...do you ever worry?
Dawn replied to chilo1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a 6 year old girl and she is also starting to be very aware of her body. She isn't fat at all, she is a perfect weight for her height but since DH and I are both over weight and I had surgery and DH is counting calories and such she is asks a lot of questions about how many calories she is eating and such! It bothers me because I know she doesn't need to worry about any of it but at the same time I do want her to be aware of what is health foods and what isn't and what a portion size is! I control two of her meals a day (breakfast and dinner) so I know she is eating health foods and in school they do an okay job with lunch! -
I am excited for when I can finally do this! I bought it over a year ago and haven't been able to even try it! LOL
-
My prayers were with them all yesterday and I will continue into today. I have a dear friend who's child attends that high school and it was very scary yesterday! That is also my home state (from Lincoln)!

About how much should I eat at one time?
Dawn replied to IB150's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 1/2 weeks post-op and I can eat about 2 oz of meat with about 2 oz of veggies at meal! Fluids go through a lot fast and I can have more at each time! -
Kassie - I know there are a few MTFs in the DC area that do the sleeve but I'm not sure exactly which ones! We have Prime (but are retired) and my surgery was at the MTF here at West Point. It was SUPER easy for me as well, Doctor recommended me, I met with the surgeon and went through all the other appointments and had surgery, easy as pie!! LOL Make an appt. with your PCM and see if they will recommend you and go from there! I am betting that since ya'll don't have an actual hosptial (just a clinic) that they may not do the surgery there but you should be able to go to an MTF in the area (but I have heard there is a wait list for the area!)

What is the approx. amount Curves charges a month?

I use Lose It on my Ipod!

I am 7 1/2 weeks out and I ate raw califlower and carrots with no problem and of course steamed veggies of all sorts! I haven't tried salad and don't really want to yet since I still have to really chew everything up good and I don't want mushy salad in my mouth! LOL
-
If you are the type of person who recovers easy and WANTS to run then I say it's totally doable!! I am 7 1/2 weeks out right now and I have been joggin on the treadmill and I HATE to run! LOL

NO SLEEVE FOR ME!!!! : (
Dawn replied to Crabadams72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here for me! I haven't felt heartburn once since surgery but I do get a "sour" stomach when I wake up if I don't take my PPI at night! -
something major weird and scary happened last night...
Dawn replied to fullhandsfullheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW scary! I hope you are alright!! -
How do you get your Protein in for Breakfast? I'm having a really hard time finding things to eat for breakfast that contain a lot of protein. I don't eat yogurt and it seems that almost everything else is full of carbs Also what about lunch? What are you eating to get protein at lunch? dinner I got covered! LOL I'm just "sick" of the Protein drinks already

I'm on the Road to Onederland!! Who's with me?
Dawn replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am SO CLOSE! Weighed in this morning at 200.8 so hopefully by next week!!! -
Hey Kassie!!! Welcome to VSG! I have found SO MUCH wonderful information here before and since my surgery and like I said on FB you are more then welcome to ask me any questions, I'm totally open and honest about my whole experience! I have seen many posts on here about people who choose to not tell anyone and some who do tell! I personally told before surgery and continue to tell people but everyone has to do what is right by them and their lives! While I was still thinking of which surgery I wanted to do I read The REAL Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery and it was a good book!!

I am curious if anyony cheated on their pre-op diets? My diet is a shake for breakfast, low fat lunch (turkey sandwich) and a shake for dinner! I am supposed to not go over 1200 calories a day and not a single day thus far (today is day 5) have I even come close to that many calories. I am HUNGRY today and I am really craving some pasta but I don't know if I should go for it or not. I'm not talking about to excess but a serving! I still have 10 days before surgery! I know people who didn't even have to do a special diet just did 24 hours of liquids before!
-
I feel ya! I was hoping I might be in Onederland by the new year but alas, just THIS close! LOL I was 200.8 this morning but I am happy with that because I know I am still so early out (7 weeks) that I will continue to lose a lot more!! Congrats on your loss!!!

iphone apps for sleeve patients...
Dawn replied to meltingaway's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Lose It on the Ipod to track my food and exercise! I don't track my water but I know how much I get in each day! I LOVE this app because you can look up SO MANY different foods or just add your own! -
How many calories are you eating?
Dawn replied to lisabug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at the end of my 7th week post-op and I am usually getting in around 800 calories a day with 60+ grams of Protein and about 40oz of Water. These past two weeks have been "bad" though since we've been traveling and I haven't got in as much protein each day! LOL Since 1 Nov (surgery was on the 15th) I have lost at least 45lbs but haven't tracked my weight officially since I've been on leave. When I get back home on Monday I'll do an official weigh in at my 8 weeks. I've been losing about 1/2 - 1 lb per day! -
Liquid diet need advice
Dawn replied to hopeandfaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes if I drink too fast the protein drinks will upset my stomach! Make sure you are drinking slow and also try many different types of supplements!! -
Well I have official had my first fast food since having surgery and well, it wasn't what I remembered it to be! LOL We are visiting family for Christmas and here in NE there is a place called Amigos (fast food tacos) and it was always my favorite place to eat (esp. after being out drinking all night!! LOL) So I said I was going to try it! We ordered 1 soft taco, a crisp meat burrito (fried meat/cheese burrito) and chips and cheese (also has enchladal sause) for the three of us!! (before I could eat all of this MYSELF) So I had a bite of the taco (small bite) and two chips and 3 decent bites of the burrito and UGH FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was good but it really wasn't what I remembered it to be and I do LOVE that because now I know I won't be craving it again!!! YAY!!!!

I totally just noticed this today myself!!!! I am down 30lbs and have a lot more to go so I'm scared what is going to happen then!! LOL Annoys me because in 2005/2006 I lost 50lbs so that I could get a breast reduction (they were a 42F) and even loosing that weight my breasts didn't move but now that I am losing this weight they are moving and they are already small enough!! LOL
