  1. You are loosing and that is what matters! Some people do just loose slower then others, nothing wrong with that! Have you met with a NUT to see if they have any ideas? How much Protein are you getting in? I have personally found that my protein intake seems to affect the number on the scale! Have you been taking measurements? Many times you will see it in inchs more then on the scale! Good Luck!!!

    6 weeks I need more protein

    I am 9 1/2 week post-op and there are days where I just don't want to supplement so I try to eat enough foods but I have yet to make it work I HAVE to supplement with Protein powders either mixed in with foods or an actual drink otherwise I can't get in enough protein. I just can't eat enough solid foods! I usually make a Protein Drink in the morning that will equal 40-50+ grams and then I know I'm good to go and everything else just helps me out! I eat A LOT of egg whites and cheese though! I love Sargento Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese Sticks and they have 5g of protein per stick! Those parm cheese "chips" sounds AWESOME and I will be making them tomorrow! LOL
  3. I know what works for me. I am 9 week post-op (surgery was 15th of Nov) and I HAVE to get at least 65grams of protein in a day! I am still supplementing with protein shakes because I can't eat enough "real" protein in a day! I am also getting in between 600-900 calories a day! Good Luck!
  4. I was on liquids only the day before surgery which was a Sunday so I went up and was blessed by the priest but did not take The Body. Again, the following Sunday after surgery I did that was well and by the next Sunday I went ahead and just like the ladies said I made sure it all all melted in my mouth.

    Feeling Guilty :(

    I totally feel guilty about the food I ate for dinner I hate feeling guilty about anything so this just sucks! LOL I know that today is almost over and tomorrow will be a new day and I will do better! I know that I have to work at this each and everyday but right now I do feel guilty! I had every intention of making a roasted chicken for dinner from a recipe from a WLS cookbook I bought but that didn't pan out and I let DH convince me to order pizza I ordered a thin and crispy pepperoni and black olive and I ate a whole slice! UGH! I am STUFFED to the gills and I HATE this feeling! I have been doing so good on my food eating good Protein and veggies for dinner and now this

    Straws

    So my NUT says not to drink through a straw because you intake too much air and that will "stretch your stomach". Has anyone else heard this? Now I don't really believe in the whole streching of my stomach because of the research I have read that says you basically can't really stretch it out that much because that part of your stomach has been removed. But I am curious if drinking through a straw can "damage" it some how? I didn't touch a straw until we went out to dinner over the holidays and then it hit me like HOURS later that I had been using a straw! I haven't experienced anything bad from drinking through the straw (have done it a few more times) but if it really is going to "hurt" me then I won't do it anymore!

  8. I too would ask if they can give you antibotics right away knowing that you get an UTI each time you have a cath! I had one, they put it in after I was asleep and I had keep it in until after I passed the leak test the next morning! Good Luck!

    Straws

    I really try to "follow" what my NUT says but I'm here first sleeve patient! My doc told me not to use one in the begining and I'm now over 8 weeks out so I think I'll be fine. I don't use one everyday but if I grab a tea or something while out then I'll use it!!

    Feeling Guilty :(

    Not harsh at all!! I know it's just part of the adjustment to my new lifestyle! So much of this journey is mental and that is the hardest part! Shoot, thinking about it I could have put away an entire Med. thin crust pizza by myself before surgery!!! LOL I have my Ipod Lose It set to like 900 calories a day which I NEVER reach and today I did for the first time but like I said, I'm FULL (still!)! Also, I have to ask if ya'll come back and check this, what exactly is sliming? I don't believe I do this, I just know my belly is full and can't fit anything else in it!

  12. I use the liquid egg whites and just make an omlete or scrambled eggs with low fat cheese!! I also use regular egg whites and it tastes the same to me!

    What to eat before early morning workout???

    When I used to have to work out that early I couldn't eat before hand! I would drink a glass of 8oz of water but thats it and then eat after the workout! Now that I don't work out until 830ish I drink 1/2 of my protein drink and 1/2 after my workout!
  14. My BMI was 38.4 the day of surgery I hit 8 weeks tomorrow and it seems like I have stalled a little and will most likely weigh the same as last week at 200lbs which is a 38 lose!!!! (total of 45lbs counting the pre-op diet) Current BMI is 32.4
  15. I know many of you have been through many stalls and some never having any! For those who have had stalls is there a "typical" time line to them? Like at 2 weeks, 8 weeks, 16 weeks etc? I had my first stall at 2-3 weeks and now I feel as if I might be in another one at 7-8 weeks! I know it's all normal and I should just really watch my Protein and Water but it's always a bummer when you don't see the scale moving! LOL

    Stalls

    Well after my offiical weigh in on Monday I gained 2 lbs but now those 2 lbs are back off and I'm back to where I was last Monday! I officially weigh in again tomorrow morning so we'll see! I Know mine is the protein! As soon as I am getting 60+g I'm losing again!!! Good job on getting through the stall!!

    Telling Co-Workers

    I told everyone in my office before I had the surgery done and they were all very supportive!! I will be starting a new job soon (in a new state!) and I'm sure that if it ever comes up I'll talk about it but it won't be something I'll just announce! LOL

    So What's the Deal with Milk?

    I totally get the Don't Drink your Calories as it's been told to us over and over again throughout all the different "diets" but now that my stomach can only hold a TINY amount of food, I HAVE to drink a lot of my calories in order to get my Protein in each day! I (and my Doc and NUT) are more concerned with my protein intake in with the amount of calories I intake. Granted, I haven't gone over 900 calories yet even with drinking a lot of my calories!!

    Zumba anyone?

    I have the whole DVD set and it's good if you have the room and "time" to do it at home! My DH is home all day and I'm not all about doing that in the living room while he laughs! LOL I LOVED going to the actual zumba classes though, esp. when you go with a friend!!
  20. Okay so I'm experimenting on protien because honestly I'm sick of Protein powders! LOL I bought this New whey liquid Protein from GNC and it has 42g of protein in each drink. It's only 3.4 oz and I got the Fruit Punch one! WOW, it's STRONG! LOL It tastes like if you made Jello and just drank it before it set up! LOL I put it in with a glass of Water to see if that would help but it's still strong but not gross so I'll make do! I think I'll switch it up each day from this or a Protein Drink (made from powder and milk)! I also bought at Target the Archer Farms ceral with protein and I didn't like it It was an OVER POWERING Cinnamon taste!

    So What's the Deal with Milk?

    I started on milk on week two and I LOVE it! My NUT was surprised that I could handle it so well because I guess others can't sometimes with the sleeve! I drink EVERYDAY, either in my protein drinks or by itself, sometimes both! That is where I am getting pretty much all my crab intake because I'm not eating any breads or pastas and not a lot of veggies! I drink 1% milk!
