WOW! I'll be 3 months post-op tomorrow and I still have restriction with fluids! I can drink more now then when I first got it but I still can't drink a lot! I LOVE my restriction but sometimes I do wish I could drink more!!!
-
I have heard many people say that they have to have some sort of sauce with it! I personally have no issues with chicken at all! It's the easiest for me to eat and I just usually have it grilled! I don't like sauces so mine is just chicken and I chew chew chew!!!

I am curious as to who has "outlawed" you from eating cake? Is that your choice? I will be 3 months post-op in 2 days and I have had cake (a couple of times) but it's a bite here and there (I'm still losing weight just great too)!! I am with all the others, you really should experience this with your daughter! You don't have to take a "FULL" bite of each, but a small tasting and I'm sure you will be full after just a couple!!! Have fun and ENJOY!!

I would really take a look at what solids you are eating and maybe back up a bit to softer foods. Also make sure you aren't eating too much to fast because I have heard from many that will make you vomit. Good Luck!!

getting protein in without protein shakes
Dawn replied to hope@50plus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I still have not mastered this yet and I'm almost 3 months post-op I can get in my protein without the shake if I eat a protein bar but it has to be one or the other! Today I had a protein bar, beef jerky, tuna and brisket were my main sources of protein and I have a total of 78g for the day but 30 of that was the protein bar. -
Since we are ICED in today I'm trying another day with no Protein drink! I just get sick of them sometimes and want to see if I can eat enough! B - 1 Mini chocolate Chip Muffin (made them for my daughter since she's off school again today!) Pure Protein Bar L - Tuna and Crackers D - Beef Brisket S - Beef Jerky
-
B - Protein Drink L - Had my Snack earlier and now I'm not wanting to eat lunch but I need to force myself to eat something soon I'm sure! D - Beef Stew S - Beef Jerky

To Pre-op Diet .. or Not to Pre-Op Diet
Dawn replied to brazcan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a good friend who didn't have to do a pre-op either just 24 hours of liquid the day before! IMHO I think you should go ahead and do a low-fat pre-op diet. Go ahead and try some protein drinks, but remember your tastes might change after surgery. One big thing to remember is that you will not be having your last meal!! You will be able to eat almost anything again after you are healed but it will be about portion control now! Plus, once you start losing and want to keep going you most likely want to eat all that "junk" because you feel good from eating good!! As for the gas I don't know what that would be all about, I have never experienced that from CIB (which I really like!) I also think that a pre-op diet is a good idea because it can start to wrap your mind around the smaller amount of food that you'll be able to eat! It's only a week, you can do it!! -
I too have bread but only toasted! I have tried bread itself and it just felt so heavy and I didn't like that feeling! When I toast a piece of bread and put an egg on it it's great!

What did you do to break your stall?
Dawn replied to Dawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone!! I am VERY happy with my weight loss thus far but I just want to keep going!! hehe Protein I'm good to go, my average is 80g a day! This week I am going to work on my water intake because I know I'm no where near 64oz a day! I also plan to start mixing up my workouts to doing a 5K MWF and something else on TTH! I just hope I can work out the rest of this week as we are supposed to have another winter storm BOO! LOL -
Just curious what others have done/changed in their routine/diet that broke their stall? This was the first week (11 weeks post-op) that I have lost NOTHING!! LOL There were a couple of weeks here and there that was very small numbers (.4 of a lb) but never a 0! I'm not upset about it though because at least I didn't gain! YAY! LOL But as stated, I am wondering what others have done to get through their stalls and get the numbers moving again?

When can I start going to the gym?
Dawn replied to jbcone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was back in the gym after 1 week! My doc said it was okay and to just not push myself too hard! I walked for the first couple of weeks and then started to jog/walk by about 4 weeks and by 6 weeks I started abs/weights! -
How Many Incisions and IV's Did You Have?
Dawn replied to KabinKitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 5 incisions and 2 different IVs but thats because one was taken out after my leak test but had to be put back in the other arm that evening when I wasn't feeling well. -
By a civilan doctor in a civilan hosptial? If it's an MTF yeah then it's covered but like Tiffykins just posted she even just called Tricare and it's not a covered procedure! They do cover Bypass and Band though!
-
I am 2 1/2 months post-op and I walk/run 2-3 miles a day and do an ab routine. I am going to start lifting weights next week as well!

Not too Happy with my Weight Loss
Dawn replied to karrieremmer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is normal and it has happend to many of us!! I was a little freaked out when I hit my first stall and my second too! LOL I have since learned to just keep with my plan, get my protein in each day and make sure I'm working out and the weight will come off! At first I really thought I would lose really fast since I couldn't eat so much but that just isn't the case. Your body goes into starvation mode for a bit until it all adjusts and it will adjust!! I am now down 49lbs in three months and even though somedays I feel that I should lose a little quicker I remind myself that I have NEVER lost this much weight in this short amount of time before!!! -
Anyone ran a 5K post surgery? I have always wanted to do a 5K even though I don't like to run! LOL I just signed up for my first 5K! I'll do it on the 30th of April so I have plenty of time to train right! I have always been walking/jogging at the gym and I have been averaging 2 miles in 30 mins which I think is pretty good considering! LOL Any advise for from anyone who has done it for a first timer?
-
I think I will try the C25K again. I've tried before but make it to week three and it gets to hard and I've given up! LOL I can't run anything straight right now but we'll see if that changes! Right now I've been doing 5 min walk, 2 min run for 30 mins! I'm going to see if I can bump that up though!! I'm really excited and am going to get fitted for running shoes and evently get new clothes for the race but I'll wait until closer to time on that since I'm still loosing the weight!!

pro's / con's to being honest about having surgery
Dawn replied to newmefeb8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally will tell anyone and everyone what I have done. I am not ashamed of my decision nor that fact that I was fat and needed it! I have always been a VERY open and Blunt person about Everything though! Thus far I haven't recieved any negative comments and if/when I do, I'll tell the person to shove it! LOL -
WOOHOO!!!! I'm not far into it but I am there!!!!!!!! 199.8 this morning at my 8 week weigh in!!! I am here and I am NEVER going back again!! I lost 1lb this week which is still a lose and I am happy! I know I can do better though and as time goes on I'm sure I will! I have learned so much in the 8 weeks of having my sleeve. I have learned that Protein is BIG KEY in my loss. When I eat at least 60g a day, I lose weight at a good speed, when I don't get it I stop losing or even gain! I am going back to my jog/walk at the gym this week and I am also going to start an ab workout and weights! I am on my way and it feels GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
