Getting banded tomorrow!!!
jlray replied to micheleangelina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll do great!! I agree with the above post that says don't baby yourself. Try to get up and walk around as much as you can after surgery (as soon as they say it's ok). And... post-surgery... right when you're about to contract your muscles to sit/stand up, that's when it feels like you're abs will explode if you move. It's ok, they won't!! Once you DO stand/sit up, you'll think "oh - that wasn't so bad!" That's the most memorable part of my surgery. Of course - everyone's different. Your experience may be nothing like mine. Good luck!! -
Well... in a week and three days. lol. Thanks! But you know what I realized today?! When I was at my high weight, one of the things that made me snap that I had gotten too big was that I had "juicy hands" for the first time in my life. You know, to where the knuckles really dimple in?? Well, no offense to anyone whose hands are like that, it's just that mine never had been, so it really woke me up. Welll.... today..... I realized.... I don't have them anymore!!!! Wooohoooo.... Being this size,32 pounds doesn't make that much visible, remarkable change in my body overall, so I have to count every victory!!

anyone have a feeling of dizziness
jlray replied to sandi1011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you checked your blood sugar? If it's low, that can happen. I'm not diabetic, but this happened to me once in Wal-Mart and I got very scared. When I went to my mom's, she checked me with her glucometer and that's what the problem was. If you know anyone who's diabetic, I'm sure they'll have no problem checking it for ya! I agree, though... going to the doc is the safest way to go. -
I think you've got plenty of time!! You can do it!!! Good luck!

I weighed in today at 239.6. I gained back some weight in April, but have now lost 11 pounds since my first fill last Tuesday! Yay. Total weight lost 32.7 pounds.

What is the longest you have kept your band?
jlray replied to karibensea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc joked that he wouldn't need to replace my band for 99 years. But if at that point it needed replacing, I'd have to ask another doc. -
4 hours for adjustments, too. I like going back to the same facility-it feels cozy. I got banded March 6. I'm losing a little slow because - I'm hard headed I guess. :grouphug: I've lost 29 pounds. (need to update my signature). I've lost 9 since the fill eight days ago.
-
I'll check in every Friday!! But I must admit I'll probably weigh every day anyway.
-
Yay!! March 6 here too!! I'll never forget the date... ahhh. I've only lost 16 lbs since surgery, but 8 since my first fill last Tuesday!! Way to go **fill**!!

I can say that tonight I ate two slices of pizza and a small scoop of ice cream and I only stopped because I knew I should, not because I was full. But last week, I couldn't even hold more than two bites of scrambled eggs down. I'm confused too - wish I had a good answer!!

Getting the band May 5th in Mexico...swine concern?
jlray replied to Timah85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in Juarez, and people were urging me not to go because of all the drug violence. Well, I went and didn't get shot, and I'm banded! I went for a fill on Tuesday, and people urged me not to go because of swine flu. Well, I went and didn't get the swine flu, and got an excellent fluoro fill. My shuttle bus driver also told me there was little cause for concern in Juarez, as they had no cases of the virus. However, they did take the threat seriously and closed down schools - just to be safe. I say go have your surgery - don't worry about the swine flu, because fact of the matter is - you can get it in the US too! Just stay clean-handed and you'll be fine. -
March 2009 - Lucky Losers! 1st Fill Ck-in
jlray replied to malissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you should have only had a half cc removed. 1 cc is a big big difference. You should be able to keep down water, so if you couldn't then you were definitely overfilled. So, I would say have a little put back in... maybe .5 cc? JMHO. -
March 2009 - Lucky Losers! 1st Fill Ck-in
jlray replied to malissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded March 09!! Can I be a Lucky Loser?! I had my first fill on Tuesday, April 28 under fluoro. 3.25 cc's in a 10cc band. I have really good restriction and have already lost 4 pounds since the fill. -
Favorite protein powder and recipe
jlray replied to june09bandit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best tasting protein powder I've found is from Unjury - Strawberry Sorbet flavor, but you can only get it online. I ran out, so I went to GNC to get more. I got a big barrel (exaggerating) of strawberry powder in a black container with red letters. Sorry - that's all I know. It's ok stuff, but not near as good as the Unjury. Unjury also makes a chicken soup flavored powder. Excellent for clear liquids stage. -
Has anyone been put on phentermine after being banded?
jlray replied to married's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Phentermine is an appetite suppressant, is that correct? What else does it do? You shouldn't need it if you're at a good fill, I would say. That's JMO, and I'm still new at this and not a doctor, so not sure it's worth much. Have you had a fill done under fluoro? -
Gaining weight since my surgery
jlray replied to ladyjp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was worried, too. I lost some weight on liquids, but then I stopped losing, and even gained four pounds on soft and regular food. I just got my first fill on Tuesday, and trust me - it makes a huge difference. Especially if you're getting it under fluoro. Way to target the salt intake! That should make a difference in the swelling. Let us know how it goes. Hang in there!!! We're all in this 2gether! -
ONEderland close, plateau's and YEE HAA!
jlray replied to poodles.me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
272 is my starting weight too!!! I had my surgery in March, and now that I have a good fill, hopefully I'm on my way to awesome results too... Congrats!!! -
Yes, God is good!! I prayed for the same thing - for weeks before and the whole four-hour drive to the hospital. And not only did my surgery go smoothly, but I was not at all nervous. I felt complete peace about it. My pain after surgery was minimal. I didn't have much gas pains, but I did feel discomfort when changing positions (from sitting to standing, and vice versa). But I was up walking way before the other two patients who had their surgery a couple of hours before me. He hears us and best of all - He answers!!

I'm from West Texas - little town called Monahans. I was banded March 6 in Juarez, Mexico, and I just got my first fill today!! I've lost a total of 21 pounds, but hopefully the weightloss will speed up now that I have restriction. Jessica 272/251/130ish
