  1. Is there any one out there that has the lapband for 4-5 years? I have some questions about how long the band can stay in you, does it ever need to be removed? How often are you going in for check ups if you don't need anymore fills. Please help, its been a few years since I had the lapband surgery and I'm starting to get a little afraid of the port and how often I should be checking up on it?
  2. I was wondering if anyone out there has had their lapband for more then three years?

  3. Ok, I have been doing way too much research about the Lap Band on the net. I keep reading all these horror stories about not being able to swallow, vomiting, complications!.... Is there anyone out there who has had none of these problems??? I was all ready to do the procedure before I started reading all of the problems people are having. I feel like I just need to talk to someone who has actully had the surgery and is totally happy with it. Please help, I have tried so may diets and the weight just never stays off for very long, I really wanted to try the procedure, but now I'm kinda freaked out! Any encouraging words would trully be appriciated!

    Please help!

Thanks everyone... I do feel a lot better now! I have read a lot about the surgery and of the commitment you have to make with both diet and exercising after the surgery in order to stay healthy. I am so ready to do this! I guess I just needed to know I was not alone, lucky for my friends, they are all in gret shape, but when I told them I was thinking about the surgery, they all thought I was crazy! I think a lot of people right away just think "why can't she just exercise and diet ?'" They have no idea how many diets I have tried and lost some weight only to have the weight come right back and even more! Now it's not just an issue of looking in the mirror and thinking "God, I look terrible, how did I get this big!" Now it's a health issue, with having to take pills for high blood pressure, having sore knees and ankles, and feeling depressed. My poor boyfriend always wants to try and stay active, and here I am telling him "I can't walk that far" -"my feet hurt to much" I can barley walk up our starcase with out being so out of breath! Well anyway, I just wanted to thank all of you for your positive replys. Hopefully my friends will be supportive after the surgery, but it's nice to know there are people here who know just what I'm going through! THANKS!!!!!!
