After surgery.. how long are you down?
laprelief replied to Arkgl01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I must say from experience that it was at least a two week recovery and I still have soreness almost 4 weeks later. I feel that it is so important to be realistic and take into consideration that everyone has a different healing rate. After reading about everyone's fast recovery, I literally sat and cried everday thinking that something was terribly wrong with me. I could walk around the next day, but once I arrived home it was impossible to hardly stand up or lie down...pain pain pain! It's getting better, but don't expect to be superman just in case! -
I know exactly what you mean. It has been 3 and half weeks and I can eat just as much of whatever before as before the band. What's up with that??????? I'm so discouraged and hungry for goodness sakes.

Today is Monday and I'm scheduled to have the lap band on Thurs. June 29 in Tijuana Mexico. I'm am literally sick to my stomach. My family is unaware of my itentions for that day, because of the lack of support. I am currently at a bmi of 41 and I'm only 32 years old. The sad thing is that I have been this size for about six years now. I like to consider myself to be pretty active. Most people say I'm very energetic and seem quite confident. However, the reality is ........ I have horrible blood pressure problems and am no longer the confident fun outgoing person that I used to be. I hope that once I have this lap band I will once again have the enthusiasm for life that I once had. My two fears.....dying and the band not working correctly. Any words of advice?

How exciting to find two people with my same interest. I will be banded next week in Tijuana, Mexico. I, too, Have been on cool running and as a matter of fact entered a half marathon two months ago. It was exciting, however, my weight prevents me from excelling. I am about 80 pounds over weight and still completed the half marathon under the allotted time frame. How exciting. Anyway, after the band, I hope to excell and run the distance instead of walking.

How long have you had the lap band? How much have you lost per month? -
