  1. Cool. I had mine at St. Lukes too but the expenses are really high but vis-a-vis with the patient care that they give, I really felt comfortable in St. Lukes.

Haha, I don't know if I should even give this advice but well... for the first year and a half, I was really busy in college so I wasn't able to give much attention to exercise. I had different kinds of diets though to try out which ones would be best in losing weight.

I lost about 80lbs in a year, and the remaining 110lbs in the second year post-op. I just started gym after losing about 130lbs. but I had difficulties with the look of my skin, well aesthetically since they obviously sagged from the non-exercise.

I'm not sure if you can really restore your skin to its natural look, but try it out with exercise. :sifone: I'm currently doing gym routines and focusing on my post-obesity issues. So far, so good. :)

    Hello dustinb!

Just a question, how's the condition of your skin now? Does the elasticity go back years after the surgery?

  2. Hi all!

Im wondering why there are lots of people who view this thread but don't actually post messages. I hope we can help each other more by answering the questions of our kabayan! Tulong tulong na, and dont hesitate to post your questions here.

I think most of us want to know how much it really costs (as detailed as possible so we wont have to ask and ask... and ask some more). How much is the operation, the professional fees, post operation stuff? (To be honest, I'd appreciate if anyone can type his or her receipt. LOL.) Do you know of any insurance companies who offer refund for the cost of surgery apart from PhilHealth?

Also, I would want to solicit your recommendation for good surgeons (or hospitals) around.

What other pertinent information can you share with everyone regarding your experience?

I hope those who know the answers to the questions can post. This will help us a lot.

  3. hi there im black and filipino and I haven't had the surgery yet but I will be submitting for insurance approval in about less than a week.... everyone here on this site is pretty helpful...any particular reason why u jus want filipinos to reply???? to be honest there isn't many on her....iso I would definitely get all the advice from ANYONE who is willing to give it to ya... good luck

Actually, I find this forum very helpful in looking for answers to my lap band questions. I just wanted Filipinos who have undergone surgery to reply to my post so that I could ask them about costs (in Philippine currency) and for doctor referrals as well...

Please don't get me wrong.. I really appreciate any form of advice from anyone and I am very thankful that people like you spare time to type a reply to my post.

  4. Hey guys!

I chanced upon this website in my desperate attempt to look for a solution to my long standing problem of obesity. I am 22 years old, standing 5'4", and my weight is 265 lbs. BMI, 45.5.

I have tried a lot of medications and diets suggested to me by different dieticians, and I have also been enrolled to numerous fitness gyms since my high school years but these failed to help me in my battle against the bulge.

I also got into a weight management program in a premier hospital in the country wherein I was monitored by a group of health professionals. While I lost more than 80 lbs with their help, I wasn't able to keep the weight off for a long time. A few years after graduating from their program, my weight almost doubled.

I have a family history of various diseases to include diabetes (my dad and his mother have diabetes) and heart complications (my grand father and uncle died of heart attack, and my grand mother was also hospitalized for heart problems). Just recently, my mom passed away because of cancer - the reason why I am seriously considering lap band surgery now.

I have actually consulted with a lap band surgeon two years ago. Then, I weighed 210 lbs, and he suggested that I try different alternatives first. Two years and here I am typing this entry. I would really appreciate it if Filipinos who have tried lap band surgery could send me a message to discuss about costs and doctor referrals.

Please, please, please reply to this message or email me at mzvillalobos@gmail.com . Thank you!
